Good food, great experience. This was our "splurge" outing. They had a "music and dinner" night with a classical music quartet and a prix fixe menu. The food was good enough, though rather more limited (my wife, who can't have cow milk dairy, couldn't eat the only option they had for the soup). Highlights: beet carpaccio with goat milk cheese. (We tried to find a similar dish elsewhere and were disappointed). Duck liver pate was good, as was the soup. I had the fish, which was...fish. Dessert was good if unspectacular. Terrible experience. I don't not recommend here. We did not go to cafe located on the 1st floor (the actual cafe located in the lower level), we sat in the cafe bistro (overlooking the astronomical clock) Bottom line up front: the older lady working here was rude and did not give me the correct change. We used euros with no issues in Prague and received the proper change. However at this cafe, she was raising her voice, tossing change across the cashier counter, and short changed my by 2,50 euros (approximately 51.08 koruna). beautifully decorated inside, on the second floor overlooking the square and the astronomical clock. there is a show at 11am (I think, it was under construction when we were there April 2018) and if you get there early you can grab a window table and watch from the cafe. they serve all the traditional espresso drinks, but my favorite was a Viennese Coffee which seemed like a combination of latte and cappuccino. really good and all the espresso drinks are served with a small sweet. there are also pastries and cakes for sale. Cafe Mozart stands in the place where cafe Milena, opened in honour of Kafka's friend and translator, used to be. While the recent renovation has changed the look of it, it still maintains the air of a beautiful old cafe where writers would congregate. Perfect for a visit with the girls or your boyfriend, it has a variety of delicious desserts on offer and nice coffee. When we visited it was fairly quiet, making it the perfect place to sit by the window and watch as the Astronomical Clock strikes the hour and avoid the crowds gathering in the street for it. The staff is also quite friendly, but they were a little bit taken aback by how many photos we took and my friend's excitement over the history of the cafe, which they were not aware of. It is in a convenient location and has great views of the Astronomical Cock and Old Town Square. Make sure you sit upstairs to enjoy the views and get away from the crowds outside and downstairs. The upstairs area is very spacious and has some old world charm. I went in late November and it was not crowded at all upstairs, but packed outside with tourists in the square. We set up our reservations before we got to Prague. The location is fantastic. We had a special dinner and were located right next to the nights entertainment. While the ambience, service and entertainment were fantastic, the food, while abundant with several courses, was merely adequate and unexceptional which was quite disappointing. Stopped in the ice cream/desert shop for something sweet after dinner. I had a chocolate milk shake that really was just chocolate milk in a fancy glass. My wife had three scoops of ice cream/ gelato. It was good. No matter how good anything could be here, the two snarly, impolite girls behind the counter ruined the time we spent here. No one was forcing them to be here, so quit. You obviously didn't want to be here and your attitude made me not want to be here either. A friend and I were vacationing in Prague and saw an advertisement outside this restaurant for 'dinner and jazz.' Curious o check out the jazz scene in Prague, we paid 1100 Czech crowns each (approx 60 US dollars) for this dinner/jazz combo. Not only were the only non-couple attendees, there were only 6 other people in attendance. The musicians were one vocalist and one saxophonist who were both mediocre at best, and the music could be described better as easy listening/lounge music than jazz. Think 'My Way'/'Moon River'/'Fields of Gold.' The food was just ok. My dessert (the sachertorte cake) was pretty dry. My biggest complaint with this place, however, was the service. I asked for tap water at the outset of ordering, which our water refused to serve us. So I said no worries and proceeded to pour the bottled water I had with me into one of the glasses which he seemed to have no qualms about. A while later, I was refilling my glass with more bottled water when a different waiter came out of nowhere and starting yelling at me loudly and started making accusations like - 'what, you can't afford 60 korunas?' It was seriously out of line, especially when I had asked for tap water which they refused to serve me. I was embarrassed for the guy. He made a scene in front of all the other patrons. Not only should they warn people that their version of 'jazz' is not really jazz & is best suited to an over 50 crowd, they should try not to scare off their customers by jumping down their throats for asking for tap water. We had desert in the out side shop connected to the cafe Mozart. The desert were ok. Some where good. The service was horrible. We walked in at 10 pm. The door was open and case was full. We looked for a minute and were never spoken to. Then the clerk said your are taking too long and had to leave. We were so confused. He did let us order but acted very rude.
