This coffee shop is pretty small, but if you're lucky enough to snag a seat it's such a pleasant place to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I got an oat cappuccino and my boyfriend got a regular late. We both enjoyed our drinks. I walked around the corner to get a muffin since it didn't look like this cafe had many pastries left. Granted it is a very cramped space (at most can only fit 6 groups), even the tables of twos. For the coffee, they put a personal spin on your drinks which I loved. When I lived in this part of town, Café Regular du Nord was one of my regular coffee spots (especially if I was in the mood for a croissant). I usually kept it pretty simple in terms of my coffee order (either a drip coffee or an espresso-based drink like an Americano), and I found the service to be efficient and friendly. During the last time I was there, they offered sidewalk seating and had a charming interior that gave a rustic and inviting ambience. They are only allowing 2 customers inside at the moment but the line wasn't long on Sunday morning and there were a couple of tables available on the sidewalk outside. You do this all the time!" by a skinny barista with tattoos on his arms. Came here in the morning for a latte and a cappuccino the other day.The barista working that day was super lazy and decided to steam the milk for the latte and cappuccino in 1 milk pitcher. Four stars not five because, while the coffee is very good, and the prices are reasonable (considering coffee is park slope is stupidly expensive), every time I go here in the morning I argue with the barista about giving me a bit more coffee to bring it to the too. You see, I bring a cup (saving them a cup) and they say "this is 20 ounces and we can't give you that much." Really? $4.25 for flavored water and you can't fill my cup to the top? I admit I was spoiled in Seattle and I am not referring to Starbucks but Vivace and Caffe Vita. It was wonderful bumping into this delightful coffee shop. It maybe be small but it's cozy and reminded me of Europe. And when my latte came up to the counter I was in caffeine heaven! That first sip made my day! Thank you!! Absolutely delicious! It's a cute little spot for sitting, not so much for working in a laptop. I don't know how it's still there, with it's tiled floor and general old school air. They have a full coffee drink menu and make a proper flat white and macchiato. The prices are average to reasonable. You'll almost miss it if you just look down Berkeley from 7th. Hey don't skimp on the coffee. The staff are friendly but not overly so, not trying too hard but they know their coffee. They serve la Colombe coffee. Overall a good yelp find and I'd certainly recommend it. I didn't notice food so I'd probably hit cousin john's for that. There's also not a ton of seating so you'd need to luck out. read more

Went here on a Saturday for a change of pace. We visit Brooklyn often and tend to go to Gorilla or Clever. We should've stuck with what we know. The cashier couldn't be bothered to pay attention to our order. Despite ordering oat milk in our drinks THREE times, he still didn't convey to the barista. When the drinks were made with regular milk, not only did we have to wait again, the cashier asked for an extra $3.50 for the up charge of the oat milk. We should've left then, but forked over the $ and waited for the correct order. So, for poor customer service, might have thought they were having a bad day and docked them, but to add insult the end result was undrinkable. The mocha was a powder that resulted in chunks...ick!! We ended up throwing them in the trash, learning our lesson and heading back to Gorilla. read more

Don't go here. We live in the neighborhood and have been going there every Morning for coffee fix. They never smile, no small talk, and today they still confuse the order and gave me cappuccino without oat milk that I ordered with my free coupon after ten coffee visit. I have been waiting 20 mins for a single coffee and a guy who ordered after me pick his coffee. I asked them and they gave me a regular cappuccino. The coffee maker girl said in attitude "Did you order with Oatmilk? then You didn't pay for oat milk" Seriously? I told them I used my coupon and clearly double checked OAT cappuccino and cashier understood. The cashier who got my order didn't apologize neither. Other girl said " ok it is our mistake" but STILL the girl, who was rude didn't say sorry. And this is our SECOND TIME they messed up the order and accuse us (to Customer). Go there if you want to screw up your Morning mood. In the end, the coffee is also regular. I hope they read the review and fix the attitude toward customers and learn how to apologize. read more

Been an occasional patron here over the years, here's my take: While this cafe is truly a beautiful establishment that has been around for years, I have always wondered why they weren't busier. My observations has been consistently similar throughout the years when it comes to the service here: the baristas are not friendly and all look like they dread working here. I order a latte here recently and they gave me a torn 10 dollar bill as change, which I was reluctant to accept. Instead of graciously offering to give me another bill, the barista went back and forth with me on how " this is New York City" ( what people say when there's no argument) and " the bill is still perfectly fine to use " making me out to be the difficult customer in this situation, when all i did was politely ask if I could have another bill that was not ripped. its one thing to be unfriendly ( which I've come to terms with this place) but its another thing to get into a petty argument with your customer about something so small and easily resolvable. After some back and forth, I got my way in the end after stating the logic that the subway machines won't accept ripped bills. He reluctantly gave me two 5's but still went on with his ranting. I stopped by on a Sunday, after seeing this place on Yelp. I ordered an Iced Latte with Oat Milk which came out to ~$7 and sat down to sip my coffee. The barista the behind the counter was incredibly rude. He was yelling at the other customers and just felt like a very hostile environment. It felt like he kept bullying me for no reason and ultimately, I ended up leaving the coffee shop crying. The latte itself was ok! This place is pretty fantastic We chose this spot as a meetup for a future dog sitter (we travel a lot, and moved recently-ish). While we were waiting for Latey McLateface to show (she was like 30 min late on a negative 15-degree day, but I digress), I ran in to grab 2 large americanos. The staff was super chill, and they were playing Vampire weekends self-titled album straight through. I made a faux pas, however, and tried to order from the barista (there is a pretty clear sign saying order at the register). They were super cool about it though, and we laughed it off. Another win for me was that a pretentious guy didn't want the latte they made for him (apparently he asked for something super close to a latte, how dare they fail to follow every whim of his), and they let me have it* on the house. Atmosphere: Beautiful, cute. Think vintage thrift store in Brooklyn, now multiply that by 10. It's small and busy. The line of standing people by the counter usually takes up a lot of space. Not a lot of indoor seating, but it's cozy. There is an outdoor seating area, too. Coffee: A-ok, nothing special, but not bad either. Good sizeable cup for a latte and a cappuchino for their price of $4-5. You can tell the coffee is fresh, but the roast is nothing special. The aroma smells really nice, but it's nothing like you haven't smelled before. I may try their baked goods next time, but for now the coffee is not bad. read more

I have never had a to-go cup from here not drip from the sides where the lid meets the cup. This is not user error. I drink coffee every day. Even when empty, it takes forever to get your drink. Compare this to any other place and you'll agree. The layout is a mess and it's impossible to stand on line, grab a lid, etc, etc.... I'm so lucky to live so close to this cute and quaint cafe. It reminds me of a Parisian cafe with its decor, ambience and architecture. The cappuccino is pretty good, nice and foamy. I haven't tried the rest yet. I do wish there were more seats, but there are outdoor seats/tables available when it's warm out. Cozy spot, great location. My iced chai latte was a bit on the weak side, but it was really refreshing after a 90 degree day in Prospect Park. The barista was very nice and I absolutely love the decor. I'll need to go back to try their espresso and cortado - that's the gauge for me. They have limited but comfortable seating (especially the awning "booths") and the mural inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's "L'enfer c'est les autres / Hell is other people" is gorgeous. read more

So I stopped at this coffee joint yesterday, lovely place. The decor is so nice, looks like an old fashioned coffee joint spot , with the chairs, seating, the whole design is exquisite. It is a very small spot, but popular as there was a steady flow of people on line . There is a small seating area outside for warmer weather. The coffee tasted fresh and delicious, and they sell pastries, but didn't try any this time! Will definitely return, kudos to another great coffee spot in Park Slope. Cafe Regular is a cozy spot to take a break for the 3 R's - rest, read, rehydrate - in a nice neighborhood. I'm guessing the majority of their business is take-out coffee drinks because (a) there's not a huge amount of indoor seating and only a few seats outside, and (b) there's a nice variety of coffee beverages available and a much smaller - but acceptable - variety of teas. A lot of the indoor seating is stool-type, with only a small number of padded bench-type seats and tables. Great if you can get them. One gem was today's background music - Billie Holiday. One of the women working there today is an avid fan. The music was a nice touch. My tea, a mint tea, was an unusually large tea bag in a larger than average mug. They don't have the types of tea on the board, so ask the server what is available. Quite frankly, the only reason Yelp led me here was because several other cafes Yelp identified on 7th Avenue had closed. So I'm glad this one is succeeding. read more

We live nearby and over the years have come to buy coffee from this spot only when desperate. I'm not a coffee snob by any means, my orders couldn't be simpler, but it's really hit or miss. I can live with that, but what gets me is the service, or lack thereof. There used to be one scowly barista who I've seen talk down to other customers, who seems to be replaced by another scowly fella. I don't need a barista to be my best friend, or even make small talk with me. I don't think it unreasonable to ask that I just not be given eye daggers for even walking in the door. This place is super cute and their coffee is really good. We found it whilst staying in Brooklyn at an Airbnb for my best friends wedding. I've been to many coffee places in the city and this was a good find as the atmosphere and the quality were really excellent. It's not going to be my favorite coffee place in the city, but it's definitely one I would stop at again. I ordered a regular coffee and a chocolate croissant.
