I really enjoyed my meal here. I had just arrived in Montreal QC on a long haul flight, and…read morecouldn't check into my hotel yet and found this gem just around the corner. The matcha latte with almond milk really woke me up. And i was hungry and needing some vegan protein, since the airline food I got was mostly salad. Their braised tofu with a lovely optional creamy coriander sauce, and cooked with mixed vegetables absolutely hit the spot. It was served with warm fluffy basmati rice. The tofu serving was substantial, the braising sauce was very tasty, and the tofu was firm and chewy and filled with saucey flavor. The optional coriander creme sauce and fresh limes were a great complement to the braising sauce. Around me i could see servings of chili, their vegan poutine fries, and the chesesteak come out of the kitchen, and noticed other tables were also complementing their food. I finished with a tangy lemon tart slice and vegan whipped cream - very nice. The tables are fairly close together as it's in town center. They've got several two top tables. This was great for me as a lone traveler, as I easily struck up a conversation with the couple sat on the table next to me, and we had a great chat about how good the restaurant was and then everything under the sun. They were there to celebrate a birthday and the friendly owner who'd come over to talk to them a few times, sent them home with an extra dessert. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I plan to go back during my week here and try some other dishes.

Big downside is that the bathrooms are not handicap accessible and you have to climb a flight of stairs to get up there. Another BYOB Indian restaurant but this time in a more " elegant " dining setting. More expensive…read morethen all the other Indian restaurants that I go to (perhaps rent is ridiculously expensive in St Lambert) I personally don't know if I like it or not. We chose vegetarian table d'hôte for two and to be honest it was bad. It was just not that good either. Ok. Ok. This is just MY opinion (I grew up and work in the restaurant business). So here's my problem. All three main dishes seems to have the same base sauce that has been tweaked with by the addition of different spices for each of them. The texture of the sauce (that's what gave it up) is exactly the same as those bottles Indian sauces that you buy at the grocery store. Like it has been thicken with some sort of commercial emulsifier. It felt like they had tubs of it in the back. Something wasn't right. Another thing is that it wasn't spicy at all! We had to ask for hot sauce. Probable because the place is in St Lambert and they try to cater to the clients taste buds. Americanized menu?? I think so. Another thing is that I could taste the fake powdered chicken bouillon in the food. Everything seemed to be on the sweet side as well. Like I said, not bad but not good at all. Not worth the price. I guess it's like the Chez Lien but Indian version. The service was shall I say...weird!?! They were polite but I felt like I was being served by robots. One of our waiter, because we had the whole wait staff (5) waiting on our table, only pointed things. No one word came out of his mouth. One last thing. WHERE IS THE STAINLESS PEOPLE!!!

All and all I enjoyed this restaurant- the portions were reasonable and the food was tasty. Staff were bilingual which was great. When we were done, and had to use the restrooms, I was surprised/ disappointed with my selection of restrooms. They had three bathroom doors: one labelled for men, and two labeled for both men and women. Question... where's the female's only bathroom? Why are there two gender neutral and one man and ZERO women? Make this make sense. Why wouldn't you just have one for each? Make everyone happy. It's a shame, the ambiance was beautiful the place was clean, the service was good and the food was good, but I can't say I'd go back knowing as a biological female I'm not worthy of restroom for people like me.

My friends and I went for the buffet after practice and it was perfect. The food was warm and we ate enough for the price. My plate was around $17 and I was very full by the end of it. The food is warm and delicious. Some stuff was missing since it was very close to closing but that's ok. I do wish the dessert was included in the price (it's a separate weight fee). The restaurant is big (the buffet is upstairs) so there's enough seating if you go with a group. It's always nice to add another vegetarian/vegan restaurant to my list of recommendations!

It reminded me of cities in Europe where this is very common (think Scandinavia or Switzerland.) It wasn't fully vegan but there were plenty of vegan options and they were all well-labeled. As is usual for a buffet, it's hard to not go too 'all-in' when you first start loading up your plate. Everything will look good and you want to try it all. The staff was really helpful when we arrived, explaining any of the little details about how their particular service works. And there was A LOT of seating, so this is a good option if you have a somewhat larger group. My partner and I got a view overlooking the bottom floor and outside and it was perfect.

Prices vary between $8 - $12. I can't believe I'm saying this...but I will definitely be back even though I would normally grab a burger from a fast food joint!
