Great dessert. We ate dinner here last night and on the way out we saw the dessert case and knew we'd want to come back for dessert one night. Tonight, we ate nearby, then walked over to Café Schwartzenberg for dessert. The two of us had coffees and shared an Apple Strudel with a Custard base and some Cranberry sauce. Dessert was very good.
Food is out of this world for light and quick lunch or dinner or pleasant long dine in. Service is outstanding. As far as dishes it's self will recommend for soup - liver dumpling soup with beef broth, schwarzenberg sausages with horseradish, mustard and roll. Desert is separate story, after trying many different types of apple strudel - Wien /Vienna strudel (warm /hot) is far the best - moisture, juice, thin. Definitely will come here again
Perfect little cozy cafe for a coffee. Our first time in Vienna and we wanted to find a cafe away from all the busy tourist spots. I am so happy we stumbled in Cafe Schwarzenberg. We ordered coffee's and pastries. All the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Our server explained the menu and gave us recommendations. Didn't feel rushed or like we weren't welcomed there for being tourists, which was nice because we had that treatment in a couple other places. The bathrooms were *chefs kiss* clean. We stopped by Café Schwarzenberg during our visit to Vienna and had a lovely experience. It's one of the city's oldest coffeehouses, dating back to the 19th century, and you can feel that rich history the moment you walk in--classic interiors, elegant chandeliers, and a calm, refined atmosphere that invites you to slow down. We ordered the Kaiserschmarrn and tea, and both were excellent! The Kaiserschmarrn--a traditional shredded pancake dessert named after Emperor Franz Joseph--was fluffy, caramelized at the edges, and served with a warm fruit compote that balanced the sweetness beautifully. It's a must-try if you want to experience authentic Austrian flavors. The tea was perfectly brewed and made for a cozy pairing with the dessert. Vienna's coffeehouse culture is deeply rooted in history, once serving as a hub for artists, writers, and thinkers--and Café Schwarzenberg is a wonderful place to step into that tradition. Highly recommend stopping by for a quiet, delicious break.
We really loved this place. The ambiance is kinda throw back style where you feel like you're in a period piece. Staff was friendly and the schnitzel was one of the best we had in Vienna. The goulash and sausages here were both excellent and be sure to order the fresh horseradish. It's not at all like the nasal passage clearing stuff we get back in the U.S. The ground veal dish was the easy winner of the meal though. Tender and flavorful. The desserts were very typically Viennese in that they were delicate and not too sweet.
I tried Café Schwarzenberg upon Yelp friend, Celeste's recommendation. I really liked the old-school atmosphere and service. The service was very good as well. There are so many café to choose from in Vienna, but Café Schwarzenberg does not disappoint!
Welcome to classic Viena. Servicing since 1861... you can easily tell by the old-school atmosphere. We were referred by the hotel's concierge. They catered to our request for decaf and low-fat milk in our latte. They brought a delicious burger that was visually exciting as well as very tasty. We stumbled upon this beautiful old cafe while trying to get conformable with the city. We were met by a tuxedo'd server, who brought us coffee, and offered some pastries. The prices are reasonable. Great for lunch but better for breakfast.
Looking for a breakfast spot after our early tour of the Opera House, this spot came up and it did the job. Nothing too spectacular, but we could walk in and order right away which was a plus, when trying to grab a bite between sight seeing. Scrambled Eggs with Sacher Sausage - 4 stars. Hot dogs mixed in scrambled eggs? Why not. This would be laughed at in the southern USA as something a poor college student might eat on a Sunday morning with a hangover, but throw around some chives and serve it in a nice looking Viennese cafe, and nobody can judge. Eggs needed a bit of salt, and like European scrambled eggs were on the loose side, compared to the US. Eggs Benedict - 4 stars. Nice sliced ham off the bone with a poached egg. Looked a little prettier than it actually tasted...that was kind of true about most of the food here. Eggs and crisp bacon - 3 stars. Nothing special. Bacon was sliced very thin and was more chewy than crisp. Apple Strudel - 3.5 stars. Not very sweet. Served warm with custard, cranberry, and non sweetened (or very lightly) fresh whip creme. Kaiserschmarrn - 3.5 stars. Seeing this photo is what brought me here...in the US that looks like a breakfast dish, but it's a dessert in Vienna. Like a chopped up French toast pancake with powdered sugar and berry compote. Again not very sweet. Perhaps my American sweet tooth palate isn't the same as Vienna, so I was a little disappointed. So in closing the photos look a bit better than the food actually was. But it was a nice cafe, and I see they sometimes have live jazz, so that's always a good thing.

High points include a beef goulash whose swarthy richness could rightfully be described as nearly erotic in its intensity., a very serviceable Wiener schnitzel, cakes (of course) and some very nice fancy coffees. I recommend the Espresso Correcto ( essentially strong black coffee with a hefty slug of grappa).
A good place to go to for breakfast in Vienna. The cafe itself is very beautiful. The food and coffee was very good as well.

The Apfelstrudel was delicious, and the latte was great. The service was quick and friendly. The café had an antiquated charm, creating a unique atmosphere. read more
Across the street from our hotel the Imperial. A perfect spot for an afternoon espresso and snack after our visit to the Belvedere Museum. Service was friendly and efficient. We grabbed a table by the street outside. It is 65 degrees F and sunny. A very nice cafe. Mark & Nancy. read more
Excellent. We recently visited here on a rainy afternoon. It was the ideal cozy, Old fashioned environment that we wanted. Tip: Consider making a reservation. We had attentive, friendly service and enjoyed Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesoße Sachertorte mit schlagobers Café Melange. (Milk foam on top.) It was a lovely experience and we would definitely recommend this cafe. read more

Great service, and nice people, great food, light and healthy options, good coffee, clean restaurant, comfortable booth seating also, staff speak English to help tourists...and good foot traffic with locals and tourists. And great delicate and tasty desserts. Loved the food and bathrooms are very clean and beautiful. read more

We are visiting from Atlanta and have had the pleasure of being served by Adam Sandler (look alike). The Apple strudel is wonderfully prepared and the service very professional and helpful. We had a great time. An iconic Cafe!! read more

Good food with reasonable prices. I'd you want a good seat then it's best to make a reservation. The portions are very small so keep that in mind. The Apple strudel was amazing and highly recommend. Service was good as well. read more

The Konzert Cafe Schwarzenberg was our first introduction to the Vienna coffee house scene. Gayle and I had just arrived in Vienna, and after checking into our Hotel walked the few blocks over. We enjoyed the elegance of the place, especially the architecture and the formally dressed waiters. There's also some interesting history to this place including a post-WWII interlude where occupying Soviet solders pretty much trashed the place. Our coffee was strong and our tortes were tasty. It was also a great opportunity to hang out and relax after a long day's travel. read more

My observations from visiting this morning... - The bread was fresh and nice. Like. - The coffee was slightly burnt and had a few grounds in it. No thanks. - The ambiance was straight-on, and the waiter was attentive while also maintaining some of that famous Schwarzenberg snobbery. I'll probably go back-- once I saw all the different breakfasts other people ordered (there wasn't a breakfast menu at my table), it made me want to try all of them! They also have fresh orange and carrot juices, plus a Vital breakfast with müsli, yogurt, fruit, and whole grain toast. Yum! read more

This place's take on local food just hits the spot. We came late at after a concert, waiters are open arms welcoming us in to eat. Really good food and service, I didn't understand the lack of stars... feels like really petty revenge reviews and has nothing to do with essence of this place - homestyle local flavors. Give it a try, won't regret it! read more

Cafe Schwarzenberg was recommended as a perfect example of old world style in Vienna. The recommendation could not have been more correct. From the moment we entered the cafe, it felt as if we had stepped back to the early 1900's. The timeless elegance of the interior included lots of wood, brass and leather appointments. The staff was all well-dressed and extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and more. For breakfast we both ordered Knusprig gebratener Speck mit Eierspeis oder Spiegelei (crispy bacon with scrambled eggs), Wiener Frühstückskipferl (Viennese breakfast croissant) and coffee. The service was flawless and the food was a delight. Our waiter fussed over every detail and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a wonderful meal and a great way to experience a little old world elegance. read more

Hubs and I had a lite breakfast here on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel, as we had some time to kill before our room would be ready for check in. We were told it was one of those traditional Austrian coffee houses that embraced the country's coffee culture. It didn't disappoint. Have to admit being pretty tired and jet lagged when we stumbled into this place. We quickly both honed in on the salmon plate, with a side of toast, and we both also ordered our own teapots of black tea (yeah, I know, not coffee...). The portions were generous and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Cafe was in a decent location with ample seating and with its copious dark wood, had a very old world charm to it. read more
I will never forget Café Schwarzenberg, since this is where i learned what a "soft boiled egg" was. As it happens, it is not wise to jam a fork into the side of one of these guys as it is perched on its candlestick thing in the middle of the your plate, especially if you have a limited amount of shirts to change into, and you are trying hard not to fall into the "idiot american" sterotype on your first day in Vienna. Spoiler alert: the runnyness is still very much in there, and the runnyness will project outward following the direction in which you have inserted your fork. I would like to chalk this off to not being able to read the menu properly in german, or just my general excitement and aloofness as a result of being in Vienna for the first time, but the truth is, i just didnt give much thought that there was probably a reason why "soft" has a different name than "hard" boiled, and i did not think too much of what this implied. Regardless, this was a really amazing place to sit down and have a coffee and a pastry. Take your favorite coffeehouse in America, and this blows in out of the water easily. Granted, it's not the same feel as your wifi enabled, school books all over the table american coffee house... but as Vienna is the birthplace of the coffee house, ill give them some credit as to their setup. The service is very European (ie dont plan on getting the bill until youve clearly asked), but in Europe, you may want to come to expect this I've learned. A coffeehouse is a must do in Vienna, and this Schwarzenberg is certainly a good bet. read more
All the class of old world Venice with 60% less tourists than the Sacher Café. Although we only stopped here for coffee and cake, I was very impressed. From the hammered brass topped tables to the tiled arched ceilings, I couldn't stop staring. Service was impeccable. I appreciate that the very professional waiter kept it all in German. That show either that he was saving me the embarrassment or my restaurant German is sufficient. Everything from the sweets case looked delicatable. I had a lovely piece of Apfelkuchen along with a fine Franziskanner. I learned a valuable lesson during my trip to Vienna; The world would be a better place if everything came with a large dollop of Schlagobers. Do yourself a favor while in Vienna, skip the more touristy spots and be sure to swing in here. The full menu looked great. Just leave your NASCAR jacket at home and wear something nice. read more
