It never feels good to complain about a small family business, especially one with nice people. Cahaba Tire checks those boxes of kindness and being a local business. While Cahaba tire may be a great spot for tires (cannot comment on that), it struggles for more complicated diagnostics. In this case, brought in the car with a set of lights blinking on the dashboard and reduced braking capacity. A simple google search or a question to AI would have immediately pinpointed even a novice to the fact that this was an issue with the brake booster, simply based on the codes. Yet, the crew here immediately jumped to diagnosis of a faulty battery with great confidence. After inquiring if it could be the brake booster (as I already searched the codes myself), they assured that it's not. Well, "mechanics know best", so I thought. Who am I to argue with them. Thus, paid for the battery, got it replaced and sure enough, all the lights came back on after half an hour of driving. Bringing the car back to them, they acknowledged the misdiagnosis, yet said they cannot fix the issue with the brake booster and it needs to be taken to a specialized shop. However, they did not offer to comp any part of the initial repair cost to replace a battery that wasn't the problem at hand, which would have been a reasonable thing to do from a customer service standpoint. In other words, owning up to their own mistakes and that they wasted a whole day for the customer. Sadly, that did not happen. While everyone was very kind and appeared genuine, the result as a customer is a wasted day without result at a mechanic shop due to overconfidence of the team here and a cost of a battery that potentially did not need to be incurred that day (which there is no way to know for certain now). read more

I went to have the tires I purchased earlier in the year rotated and get an oil change. Being there already, I asked if they could replace the O2 sensor under the car that I had previously purchased. I was charged $145.00 to unscrew and replace a simple part. It is a basic task requiring no longer than five minutes. I paid the extreme amount anyway and left. A mile from the shop, the hubcap flew off and passed the car. After retrieving it from the ditch, it was plain to see that someone had busted it. Additionally, the rear hubcap is also broken. After being sufficiently fleeced by the labor cost, an additional cost of thirty-five dollars was necessary to replace the hubcaps they destroyed. You lost a $1316 sale will buy tires and service elsewhere. Was recommended by local shop garage because they don't sell tires what a mistake. Would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I was referred to Jim Collins by Kelly at Technique. They open at 7:30 Monday - Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday. Jim greeted me promptly, took my info and asked for my keys. An hour later I checked out, paid $27.50 for my tire repair/ patch and was on my way. So happy I stopped in here to visit this reputable shop with fair pricing. Buyer Beware....they may not honor the road hazard warranty you buy from them. I bought tires with road hazard warranty, after 12k miles, 1 tire was bad. I replaced the tire and was expecting to see a prorated amount (credit) for it. The owner/manager stated they would not be honoring the road hazard warranty thus no credit. When I questioned the reasoning of why there is no credit, the owner/manager stated he is not losing any more money and told me to leave and never come back. read more

So I have a 2:00 pm appointment for oil change and I arrive at 1:50 and park right in front of the garage doors expecting to someone come and get me the same way they do on the regular oil change places but no, nobody's come to me so I decide to get off the vehicle and go to the front office to let them know I was on time for my appointment and a soon as I step out this guy come to me and told me to move my truck to a parking spot And I told him that I was there for my 2:00 appointment and he said I don't care you still need to move the vehicle And I said "what's the point to move the vehicle if you going to bring him back in 2 minutes? And he just said "move the vehicle" I told him "what if I take my business somewhere else?" And he said "i don't know" I'm was probably doing the wrong thing parking right in front of the building but the employee attitude is the one making me doing this review I'm a regular customer here and this is the first time something like this happened to me usually they are pretty nice The service is great by the way read more

We have used this business for a few years. The last couple of times we went there, they could not do the work. The last attempt was at 12:30 PM for them to see about a possible alignment issue. The other time was with getting an oil change two hours before closing. There were not many cars in the parking lot either time. The guys are nice and the price seems fair. Unless I drop the car off, I have not had luck getting service done the last two attempts. read more

If they can't fix your issue they can always refer you to someone local that will do a good job for a good price. I have always heard really good things about this place. That's why my experience there was very disappointing. I expected honesty and got the opposite. I brought my car in and they were very nice (had me fooled!) They said that a part was bent all the way back, it looked like it was wrecked by the previous owner and needed to be replaced ASAP. They quoted me almost $500! I went to the guy I bought my car from for a second opinion. He lifted my car and showed me the part that was supposedly bent and it was completely fine. It was so disappointing to know that these guys at Cahaba Tires tried to play me and get my money. Beware- especially if you are a young woman that doesn't know much about cars. We were in our way to the shore for snapper season. The tire on our boat trailer needed to be replaced and we were already on our way. We didn't know we had this issue until we got on the highway. With all the "tire pros and places on 31", Cahaba Tire Pros is the only place that stood up to their name. All the Firestones, Garages, and other tire locations couldn't replace the tire without taking it off the trailer first, they didn't have the tire, they didn't have time blah, blah, blah. The guys at Cahaba Tire were responsive, professional, had what we needed in stock, could change the tires without our having to take the tires off the trailer first, and got us back on the road in under an hour. These guys were awesome if you want the run around go to one of the others losers around them on 31.
