Unfortunately, my usual place was closed, and I needed a haircut for a funeral I was attending. That's when I found this small, unassuming shop across the street from the Methodist church. The barber, Amy, was incredibly friendly. We chatted about how I liked my haircut, and she went above and beyond to give me an excellent one. She even trimmed my eyebrows with an electric trimmer and gave me a razor trim on my neck and temple area. I must admit, I left very satisfied with my haircut and my appearance! (Yes, I moved here from LALA Land and know whereof I speak) I honestly don't know why these barbers haven't been "discovered". Maybe the simple and plain appearance of their shop is off-putting, but I'm happy I didn't let that stop me. Sadly, the construction on the I-45 through Huntsville has seriously impeded access to the shop, and business has fallen off. But the shop is still accessible from the I-45 north bound frontage road. I don't suppose this impediment will let up any time soon inasmuch as the Smither Drive to S Street bridge must be replaced. So, let's all pitch in, spread the word, and make the effort to patronize this gem of a very small business until the roadwork is completed.

I called the manager right at 9 AM to ask if someone could fix it before the big day. The stylist had promised a dark color, but it came out completely wrong. I wasn't able to get in until the following Monday, after my wedding. The manager did a much better job, but it still wasn't what I originally asked for. I then spoke with the owner, and that's when things truly went downhill. She was incredibly rude and dismissive, telling me I was just "an unhappy customer who can never be satisfied." I had visible dye stains on my forehead and cheek, and my hair looked nothing like the photo I provided. I even had a bald spot, which I documented in photos. After seeing the pictures, the owner agreed to issue a refund. But when I asked when I could come in to receive it, she said she'd "make an appointment." I followed up for two days asking what time worked for her, and she replied that she's only in the salon one day a month and I needed to be patient. Her tone in the messages was just as rude as she was on the phone. Bottom line: the owner is the rudest I've ever dealt with, and the stylists need serious improvement. Emma was so warm and friendly, she took great care of the girls. Emma made sure the girls were comfortable with different kids of booster seats at the washing station and her cutting station. My appointment was with Corrina and she was awesome! She is the first hair stylist I have been to in a LONG time that was willing to help with deciding what to do with your hair. I have actually been to other salons where I have gone in and told the hair dresser I did not know exactly what I wanted to do and she said "Well your going to have to tell me something." So it was so refreshing to have someone willing to take the time to help plan your hair cut. She also took the time to explain to me what difference between a dry cut and and shampoo and cut would make for the style. I went with a dry cut and she actually got my bangs right! I usually give tons of grace with negative experiences at businesses because customer service is a hard industry but a text or email if not a call would have been appreciated.

The cut and style is bundled together with the price for highlights which is really nice because way too many times I have gone in a salon and left with only part of what I really wanted, but they bundle everything together so you can actually leave getting everything you want, and You save a little money on the haircut by bundling it with the highlights.
