I've ordered from here twice for carryout, and it was an ok experience. The first time I visited, I ordered the Catfish basket, which was a good amount of fish for the price. When I took it home, it seemed a bit overcooked and dried out on the outside; however, the inside was as expected. I gave them a second chance and ordered the same thing again, noting the state of the chicken. The server told me that's how it was prepared. I wasn't upset about the first time, but I was looking for it to be a little lighter and softer. Still, I ordered it again, and it came the same way. The watermelon mule I ordered wasn't really for me, but I took a chance even though I saw it was made with New Amsterdam. I ordered the super hot house special boil. It was good and honestly a great price for how much food you get. The super hot had me sniffling here and there, but it wasn't that hot level in used to. They provide everything you need-gloves, napkins, bib, bucket, etc. Only things that threw me off were the postings throughout the restaurant listing their restaurant rules like they don't take parties of 12+ and asking customers not to steal flatware. My grandmother and I ordered the family boil, which was honestly enough to feed approx 4 ppl (especially if you get an appetizer). And it's a very good deal if you compare it to the cost of creating your own boil (especially if you want a variety of protein options and sides). It came with crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, boiled eggs, potatoes, corn, and sausage. Everything tasted amazing and fresh, we kept it simple for the sauce and just did the garlic butter mild. And that ended up being a wonderful reminder that sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to go. The restaurant itself is deceptively big, from the outside it's very hard to tell that there is so much room inside. The restaurant is big enough to host 2-3 large/semi private groups and have them all in separate areas. They also have drink specials for the different days of the week if you find yourself needing to quench your thirst. In the 15 minute drive to where we were staying the food did not lose its freshness. We ordered all of the wing flavors, fries, and some beignets. I was not expecting so much flavor in the wings. They are fried and maintain a perfect crispiness even with the added flavors. I believe lemon pepper was my favorite. The beignets were very tasty as well and the perfect compliment to the meal. We were not able to split the check more than two ways and the signs on the wall included petty theft laws. I've been here several times and have highly recommended not only this location but their location on 161. Tonight I drove 20 minutes to eat here and upon walking in was greeted with this sign. The mandates were lifted weeks ago and even when they were active these signs weren't up. Not only will I not promote or support a restaurant that forcing masks, but charging people for rules you want to enforce for a mask that can be taken off when I sit down is ridiculous. I'll just head up the Tussing to one of the other boils and won't be back. Very poor management decision that will hurt your business! A good seafood boil is one of my favorite meals. Spending years living in Louisiana a crawfish boil is a social event. Living in Ohio now I do a seafood boil a couple times a year. I was out and about on the east side and saw this place. I've got some time to kill and the parking lot is empty. I walk inside and the bartender asks if I want to sit at the bar. I assume because it's dead she knew this might be her only chance to make a tip. I got a shock top. It was in a clean glass but it wasn't very cold. Ordered my food. About 5 minutes later it was delivered. That was my first clue that dinner was going to suck. It takes 30 minutes to cook a boil. 1st the potatoes onions and sausage. After 20 minutes you throw in the corn and crab. 5 minutes later the shrimp and mussels and turn the heat off. Throw it in a large roasting pan and dig in. My food was delivered in a plastic see through bag. The only thing I can figure is the food was pre bagged and just waiting on the customer to pick the type of butter sauce. Everything was over cooked. The seafood was rubber. The corn was obviously frozen and gritty. Almost like field corn not sweet corn. The potatoes literally crumbled when I picked them up. I don't know what artificial chemical was used for the butter sauce it reminded me of a dyed warm mayonnaise. Not "I can't believe it's not butter" but closer to babyshit mustard. The flavor was supposed to be garlic but it reminded me of movie theater butter as it was heavy on the salt. I ate it as I was hungry. I think it was supposed to be a total of 3lbs of seafood. The shrimp were big but I had to devein and peel them myself. I thought that was kinda tacky as the restaurant prices themself as an upscale place. As if they had been over cooked or cooked in old grease. Told the waitress and she said she would tell the manager. She said they were making me new ones but just warmed the same ones up and topped them off with more powered sugar and she said "they're all put in the same amount of time". I reminded her I've had them a few times and they were never this dark/overcooked/burnt. I know they were the same ones because we flipped each of them over because we were really debating about eating them at first. Therefore we saw their shapes. These were the exact same ones. The manager never came around to us to speak or hear my concern/request. I did not feel heard. In fact, I feel played for a fool. Mediocre food mediocre service. I was not taken care of. I won't be back. The booths move. You can feel every movement the person makes behind you. The table wasn't centered for both parties. My friend had to sit on the edge of her seat to reach the table comfortably. The floors need pressure washed with scolding hot water and bleach, it feels like there's a layer of slippery grease when you walk. For a very long time I've been procrastinating from eating at this restaurant. May I say that I was very much surprised and will definitely come back. I started with the Mango Mule, calamari for appetizer and for the main course I ate the shrimp Alfredo. By the way don't forget to order their garlic bread as it's yummy. Next time I'll be sure to have more eggs added to my order. The service was horrible. We counted at least 10 servers working on a Saturday night but service was VERY SLOW! It seem like it was every other person birthday. The birthday song and clapping was really loud!
