Absolutely horrible! Website says order by noon for next day shipping. Ordered at 7am on Monday, heard nothing until 5pm via an email that said sorry we can't ship live until Wednesday. Call Cajun grocer and explain that we have a dinner planned for Tuesday night based around crawfish so Wednesday is not ok, they don't care at all, nothing they can do. Would've been nice if someone contacted us a little earlier in the day so we could've made other arrangements. Also a sorry would've been appreciated too. Here's hoping we get our refund! read more

Becareful of ordering from these guys - I ordered (5) Turduckens Monday - I was told they would arrive Friday. I got an email confirmation Monday that they were shipped. When I went to check the tracking # - nothing came up. I e-mailed them back @ order@cajungrocer.com - no response! Friday comes around and I call. Ordered Boudain sausage for the grill for Memorial Day. I have a large family who will eat practically ANYTHING, so I decided to order a different taste for them this year. My order for 5 packages of the Boudain sausages came to $58.00 ($29.00 for shipping), and by the time they arrived, they were about halfway thawed out. We decided to grill them anyway. Thank God no stomach upsets, but there were very few takers for the sausages. The taste was bland and uninteresting. This was the pork and rice flavored sausages. I ordered 100 lbs of live crawfish and had them shipped to Chattanooga, TN. The price per pound was a little over $5 per pound once shipping charges were factored in. Crawfish were "selects" so they all were of a bigger size and arrived purged, clean, and I'd say 99.9% alive! The price per pound seems high for April crawfish, but my local fresh seafood market offered a higher price per pound for crawfish that would not be clean, purged, selected for size, or delivered to my door. When I ordered a little over $400 worth of stuff for my party that cost well over $2k I communicated with them through the whole process to guarantee it would be here in time...being if it wasnt 2k went down the drain....well they didnt care about that in the end, weather set in and a ton of orders didnt go out in time, did they stay at work til regular business hours to ensure the customers they cared?? After having some bad crawfish recently here in Albuquerque, we HAD to have our own boil. Since we used CajunGrocer before they were the natural choice and DID NOT disappoint. I wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered. I would have most definitely gone through someone else to ship 220 lbs of live crawfish to Alaska. I placed my order about three weeks ago over the phone, received an email confirmation pretty quickly and thought I was set. I received the following email today for my order that was supposed to ship out tomorrow. "Unfortunately our live crawfish season seems to be coming to an end early this year. We will not have any available to ship this week. We can possibly ship you shrimp instead or we can hold the order and possibly ship later. We may have some in a couple weeks that come from a natural water way instead of ponds. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know" I've never felt the need to write a bad review for a company but when you have that much crawfish being ordered, letting the customer know the day before that they were unable to ship due to "live crawfish season coming to an end" is the most bs excuse. I called Tony's Seafood right away, talked to the funniest and most helpful lady named Beth and she laughed when I told her their excuse. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing to say the least. Very disappointed about the craw fish size!! I have ordered 15 lbs "Quality" live crawfish in June 2015, and it said "no field run". What I have received is the smallest crawfish I have ever saw and ate. Please see pictures. I'm from southern louisiana and stationed in Norfolk VA. At first I was a little reluctant to purchase because being from Louisiana I tend to be particular of ordering Crawfish to be shipped. My order not only came in on time but the Crawfish were very nice in size and only had a couple of dead ones out of 30 pounds. The seasoning came with it as well. More like 0 stars. Ordered and paid extra on a Tuesday for Saturday delivery, got it next day with no room in my freezer. The 21/25 count IQF shrimp were no where near large in size, more like 31 to 36 count smallies AND they were nasty mealy disgusting shrimp. Also ordered a 5 lb box of shrimp and there were ingredients other than shrimp listed! Loads of chemicals! Four dozen oysters were only good for frying, couldn't eat them raw. 1 pound of lump crab meat had no taste and was not worth the $30. I planned a huge mothersday seafood feast and these guys ruined it. Your local grocer has much better quality in there freezer, why risk ordering from a middle man that has nothing to do with the quality. And why pay for shipping? I've lived in VA for the last 10 years and have used Cajun Grocery for getting staples like my gumbo/jambalaya and various other mixes, but mainly I use it for my smoked sausage. I think their prices are very very good and I've never had a problem with a shipment so far. I've only used online ordering, and I'm sure I've communicated with them via email a few times, but I don't recall ever having an issue with anything i've purchased. I recommend them to every who wants a taste of my home state or any other ExPats in the area. read more

Cajun Grocer's delivered just as promised! We ordered on Sunday, and received Tuesday. As CG suggests, you must allow at least 48 hours for the Turduchen to thaw in the refer. I left in the vac-pac as it defrosted. In future, I'd suggest allowing 3 days in the refer to defrost if you leave it in the vac pack. We ordered the Turduchen stuffed with veggies. After 6 hours cooking at 325 our dish was ready. We are not Cajun seasoning lovers, and did not enjoy the flavors at all. I blame it on our tastebuds! No complaints about Cajon Grocer, though. They use drop and run shipping without notification. Spoiled food is delivered without any culpability or real effort to "make it right." Order your turduckens from Costco and/or Big Easy Foods; better quality lower prices and real customer service. Only order cheap non-perishables on a cost basis only. Ordered a turducken, stuffed porkchops and a few small items. PORKCHOPS were excellent and will reorder again and again. The turducken was a hit too. Luckily I was at home for the dry ice was completely evaporated, but all was frozen solid and put into the freezer. Next time I will call customer service and ask for extra ice since we are down in sunny Tampa. The porkchops were so tender and a huge hit. read more

I am a 1st time customer and must say I was afraid of ordering food to have it shipped to my door and had seen some not so pleasant reviews of this store, however I wanted to give them a try. Extremely fast shipping, received my order in 2 days. I ordered perishable items as well as staple goods. I am 100% satisfied with the way attention to detail that was paid to my order. Each glass and can item was bubble wrapped and taped individually. Flour and other bag items were also wrapped in shrink wrap to protect. Chips were placed in a box to prevent crushing, seafood and meat was shrink wrapped and placed in a cooler with hot ice, everything was still frozen when it arrived. I am so glad I listened to my gut feeling and gave them a chance. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase and will be placing more orders in the future. I've never been to the Cajun grocer location in Louisiana, but I've ordered from them online several times for Thanksgiving. Their food is always delicious. This year with my turducken arrived, plus a crayfish stuffed chicken. When I open the cooler, it smelled like raw meat although it was frozen solid. I think the vacuum seal was damaged. I called customer service to make sure it was supposed to smell that way since I'd never ordered the pork dressing version. They quickly decided to send me an entirely new order, even the chicken which smelled fine, and overnighted it to me so I could have it in time for Thanksgiving. The new shipment was wonderful. No odor in the cooler and delicious as always when cooked. It did take an extra two hours to cook. (I didn't get it thawed in the center by Thanksgiving morning.) But excellent customer service like that is hard to find sometimes. I'll continue to buy from them. read more

i ordered king cake kits for mardi gras on january 30th. i rerceived it 1 day after mardi gras. all i received regarding the shipping was a shipping confirmation from ups on feb 7th estimating delivery on the 13th. i never receved a phone call or other communication regarding my order and the evidently backporder of my item. they cl;aim a 7-10 business day window for shipping which they met. however i am within a 4 day shipping window of their address, why did it take 6 extra days for me to get my order? they are unable to answer the questio and are completely unapologetic. do not buy from this company. regards ct cajun read more

I paid $40 for a Turducken breast and it was AWFUL. Mostly turkey with a bit of duck and small amounts of stuffing. I made it for Thanksgiving for foodies and everyone thought it was bland and boring. Thankfully I deep fried a turkey from the supermarket (injected it with seasoning) and it was delish. I have not tried my turducken yet... So I cannot leave a review based on taste. I can how ever leave a review about service... I ordered my turducken 10 days ago; when I got home today I saw my package sitting in front of my door. So I picked it up and took it inside, after putting it on the counter I realized I was covered in some type of liquid. I then opened the package and discovered there was no more dry ice or any cold air left in it. The whole bottom of the package was covered in turkey, chicken and duck juices (yummy lol) and had a FOUL odor! I called cajungrocer.com and said my package had just arrived with no ice in it and the product is SPOILED! They looked up my order and saw it was delivered 3 days before. I insisted I just received the package today. I was told a manager will call me back. Anyway after I got off the phone I walked outside to throw away the spoiled turducken. It just so happens my neighbor was outside. He asked me if I received my package and I said "yes but it's no good to me now it went bad" he said " I'm sorry it got delivered to me a couple of days ago and I didn't notice until today". SO UPS delivered my package to the WRONG place. Right after this cajungrocer.com called me back and told me they will replace all my items all I need to do is pay for shipping!! This is why I gave them 5 stars; it was not their fault that UPS messed up. But they stood up to the plate and provided 5 STAR costumer services. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. Ordered 5#shrimp, 5#alligator tenderloin, Crawfish/shrimp boil seasoning in package. No dry ice in Styrofoam box. Shrimp and alligator was thawing out when I received product and the seasoning package was damaged/opened and the contents of the seasoning was all over other products and the inside of the container when I opened it up. What a mess, seasoning caked all over. I had to wash everything, and then I had to cook up the whole order days early because after washing and being partially thawed when delivered I had no choice. Plus had to go to store and purchase more shrimp boil seasoning. I contacted the company and questioned their packaging procedures, because even I can see there was no thought involved in the consequences of the large frozen items rolling around and damaging the fragile item. Come on people... this is packaging 101. Their response " I apologize for the inconvenience unfortunately this does happen in transit. We do our best to make sure this does not happen". Sure you do, a two year old could have done a better job! and what about NO DRY ICE!! to keep product frozen in transit? I should of checked the reviews on them, many.. many.. BAD!! reviews. The Cajun Grocer website is the worst I have ever used, very antiquated. I have had issues in the past with ordering, but nothing compared to what I experienced when ordering a Turducken for Easter dinner. I attempted for several hours to place an order on Friday, March 23rd. I called customer service that afternoon advising that I kept getting an error, 'item not added to cart'. The representative told me that they were having technical issues, but thought had been resolved since a few orders had come in. I asked her to take my order, as was needed the following Friday. She told me to keep trying, as I had plenty of time to get order in on website for it to arrive when needed. I finally was able to place the order on Saturday morning. I felt I needed to select 2-3 day shipping to ensure it would be delivered on time. Instead of paying around $23.00, I paid $67.00 for shipping. Monday I called customer service to verify order would ship on time. I was told all was on track. I sent an email to customer service address to let them know how displeased I am with website performance and how I had triple shipping expense due to this. I received am email back with an apology, and assurance of package shipment. Tuessday I emailed back asking for tracking because not showing on website. I was advised it would ship Wednesday for delivery Thursday. On Thursday there still was no tracking available, so I emailed again. I received a response from same customer service gal advising that due to ongoing website issues, not only did my order not shipped, it wouldn't ship until the following week! No discount was offered for the inconvenience of me not having my main course for Easter dinner, just asked me to advise if I wanted a refund or later shipment. I responded letting her know that I should have been advised of this issue before inquiring myself for tracking, and that Cajun Grocer had ruined my Easter dinner that so many were looking forward to. No response was received, just a refund. This was extremely poor customer service. An upgraded training program would surely help to coincide with website improvements.
