Cakenhagen is located inside Tivoli Gardens so you will need to pay admission to Tivoli to try this place. We eat here after having dinner inside Tivoli. Besides dessert, they also have pastries, coffee, sparkling tea, champagne, wine, beer, and other drinks.
We tried a variety of desserts including Flodebolle, Nimb-Kuplen/Nimb Dome, Pekanmousse, Hindbaer, Gulerod, Gateau Marcel, and Danish marshmallows. For drinks, we tried the bottled rhubarb juice. The rhubarb juice had a good rhubarb flavor, not very sweet.
Flodebolle is a Danish "cream puff" and there were two different flavors. I chose the raspberry flavor. It's a raspberry flavored marzipan coating with a marshmallow-like raspberry flavored filling. It was quite good.
Nimb-Kuplen/Nimb Dome has a white chocolate marzipan coating with a filling of vanilla mousse with a sweet mango and yuzu jam-like mixture in the center. The filling was on top of a chocolate fudge. I loved all of the different textures. This was my second favorite dessert of all the desserts we tried.
Pekanmousse was my number one favorite dessert of all the desserts we tried. It had pecan ganache layered on a cookie biscuit sandwich with a chocolate caramel filling topped with pecan pieces.
The Hindbaer was a layered panna cotta on a raspberry-flavored mousse, topped with a raspberry glaze. This was good.
The Gateau Marcel (chocolate cake) was also good too. The Gulerod (carrot cake) was okay.
The Danish black currant marshmallows were packaged long cylinder shaped pieces twisted together. It had a tart, lightly sweet taste.
We enjoyed trying all of the desserts. This is a must visit for any dessert lover! read more
