not only as this the prettiest cake I've ever seen it was the most amazing cake I've ever tasted. it was moist and delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. Dozens of guests said it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. We got the amaretto cake with raspberry filling and amaretto icing, it's a winning combo if you're not sure what to go with. Darcy was easy to work with, we got the dried flower idea from her inspiration page and she gave us all the steps that we'd need to take to make it happen (you have to order flowers separately and ship them to her kitchen), it was extremely easy. I've given this place several tries and each time am disappointed. Cupcakes, cookies, and now a cake have been bland and virtually tasteless. The icing was like lard mixed with excessive sugar. The actual cake was like a soft air puffed packing peanut that crumbled when touched. There was also a bitter, artificial taste after each bite. I ordered French Vanilla Cake with Chocolate filling.The texture of the cake was light and sweet (not too sweet) with a pleasing taste. The decor of the cake was a quilt pattern and gold dots not only beautiful but delicious! My past experience with fondant, fondant could produce a bitter taste, NOT the case at Darcy! The fondant provided a nice sweet touch! The service was speedy and friendly. We picked up the cake on a Saturday about an hour before they closed, busy but the wait was not long at all; we were in and out! Parking is convenient and the cake shop smelled like cake heaven! Called 3 days before my party (as my previous cake person bailed last minute) and over the phone explained what I wanted and they executed it absolutely perfectly! And with such short notice, I was sooo grateful. The cake was absolutely beautiful, and was at a great price in comparison to other places I looked. They said it would feed about 30 but it can definitely stretch to up to 40+ depending on how big of slices you make or how it's cut. It is very large & we have been eating leftovers for 4 days and had 50 people at my sons first birthday party. They even gave us a small matching little complementary smash cake for my baby! ALL CONSUMERS BE AWARE!!!!!! SHADY BUSINESS ALERT! RUDE OWNER, HORRIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP, WAIST OF MONEY Hello everyone! In the middle of August I visited Cakes by Darcy, disregarding the negative reviews. A picture was sent to them in regards to the cake that I wanted and I was told that this three tier cake would not be a problem. The cake was to be made for my daughter's birthday. The cake cost $438 and I paid a half as a down payment and paid the other half when the cake was finished. The order form was filled out that same day and I also asked if I could have the cake delivered because I live In Fayetteville, Georgia. I was told no, but not to worry because I would not have a problem transporting the cake. I then gave a 5pm time for the cake to be picked up. After careful consideration, I called two more times and asked if I could have the cake delivered and I will pay more than the standard delivering fee for this service. Again, she declined. The day when the cake was finished, my dear parents picked up the cake for me. When I arrived home and opened the box, the cake had ICING RUNNING ALL OVER THE CAKE, THE LAYERS WERE MOVED, THE DECORATION FELL OFF, AND THE INSCRIPTION ON THE CAKE LOOKED AS IF A KINDERGARTNER HAD WRITTEN IT. THE CAKE WAS A DISASTER! I contacted Darcy and told her what occurred and she blatantly called me a liar and then told me in the years that she has been opened, she has never had a bad review (as we know through her reviews that is a lie). Her tongue was laced with acid in speaking to me. I was shocked! She lacked empathy and consideration for what occurred. To make it clear everyone, I DID NOT WANT A REFUND I JUST WANTED THE CAKE TO BE FIXED. AFTER ALL, I DID SPEND $438 on this cake! But of course, Darcy did not fix the cake! In fact, Darcy blamed the time and location for the reason why the cake was destroyed! Everyone let's remember, in the first paragraph, that an order form was filled out divulging my location of where I live. Also, the numerous times I requested for the cake to be delivered and the time that the cake would be picked up! Dismayed, the day of my daughter's birthday, I quickly rushed to local bakeries to find a cake. When I showed the cake to one baker, the baker was in shock. She told me the icing was made light, thus the bleeding, and the cake was not properly reinforced. She then told me that the cake could not be fixed, however she took pity in me. The baker was able to make a lovely cake just in time for my daughter's birthday. This of course was not free as I paid $300 for this cake. Grad total for the cake disaster: $738 for a 7 year old birthday cake! Thanks Darcy! PLEASE EVERYONE BE MINDFUL OF THIS BUSINESS! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS BAKERY. This is not my first experience purchasing a professional cake, so I know what to expect. This was a rookie move that should not have been made. I've been hearing rave reviews about this place for months now so I decided to have a cake made for my friends birthday. When placing my order I asked the employee to write happy birthday on the cake. After picking the cake up and driving home I realized there was no writing on the cake at all. When I called Darcy, the owner, to explain the mistake and ask for a refund or for it to be fixed instead of being apologetic I found her to be extremely rude. Her exact words were "well technically you already paid for it and it's yours now and there is nothing we can do". I ordered a last minute birthday cake for my sister and I had concerns about ordering a 2 tiered cake so last minute. But the staff assured me that it will be done and be ready to pick up in just 2 days! I originally wanted a masquerade mask on top but with the given deadline, it wouldn't allow it enough time to dry. So we went with plan b and I ordered a separate party mask. Outstanding. I organized a surprise 50th wedding anniversary dinner for my parents in Atlanta from my home in Seattle. Going forward blindly, I found Cakes by Darcy online through a referral. Fabulous! Jessica took several phone calls, and was remarkably patient and understanding as I neurotically tried to perfect an idea I hadn't even fully formed. She listened, sketched out a few designs based on our conversations and emailed them. Once in Atlanta, when things didn't go quite the way I had hoped (on my end, not theirs), Jessica was right on top of it and smilingly went above and beyond to help me out. The final product was gorgeous, delicious and was exactly what I was looking for, despite my amorphous descriptions. While the dinner (at Canoe in Vinings, see separate review) was a disaster, the cake was a work of art. I couldn't recommend these folks more highly. read more

I've been celebrating special occasions for YEARS by getting my cakes from Cakes By Darcy. I LOVE a good cake and never thought I would find a bakery as good as the ones from home (Baton Rouge). This place does it for me. Their cakes are great (my faves are French Vanilla cake with Amaretto icing or almond butter cake with Amaretto icing). Once they made a slight mistake and corrected it with a gift card and some goodies to take along - they also fixed the mistake in 20mins. You did a half-baked job on the cake, then blamed US. Thank you for ruining the cake for my twins' birthday, then rather than taking the blame you had the audacity to blame me. First we ordered a blue and pink cupcake "cake" in the shape of a 4. What we got was a call a well early that it was ready. So when we cleared that up and went to pick it up on the right Saturday it's light teal and pink. Forgivable, but apparently nobody bothered to glue down the cupcakes to the sheet/paper so they all slid and tumbled on the drive home. Destroyed the writing... Have to remake the design from memory and just deal with dinged and tumbled cupcakes. What's worse is when I was obviously upset and Darcy told me it was MY fault for "driving like a bat out of hell". Fascinating. Never. Ever. Ever. Again.... Was a Cakes by Darcy devotee for many years as they are near my home (convenient) and the finished cakes/cupcakes/cookies are usually really delicious and pretty even though expensive for what you get. However, 1 bad customer service experience can ruin a relationship. Today, I called to order a cake during business hours (at 2:16 and they close at 2:30 on Saturdays) with all the selections for the cake ready to give to them. I have done this several times before. Went to a voicemail that said it can't record a message and to call back during business hours. So I hang up and call again. This time, the person who picked up asked me to hold. I held for 14 minutes. Then seeing that they were near closing and perhaps the person forgot they had me on hold, I hung up and dialed again. Someone picked up and then immediately hung up on me. ??? Why not just actually speak to the customer and say they are really busy in the store at the time and can they call me back? C'mon, it's not that hard to do.
