Mini Deep Dish Pizza w/ Mushroom Topping

Calacino's is known to be a fun stop with live music, multiple screens for sports and a large bar. This place has a storied history dating back well into the 70s. It sat abandoned for years and was opened in the 2000s and after several renovations it's now it's current size and design. Walls are adorned with lots of local memorabilia and flare. The front half is also great for a quieter experience if you're not interested in too much noise. This was the first time I sat in the back half where the bar is and not the best experience. Server was okay, even though she went missing when we needed her most. There were plenty of people but no music, not even from the games playing on the TVs, it made for an odd atmosphere. The food was my least favorite. No vegetarian options even though there are the ingredients to do so. The crust of the deep dish pizza was good, but far too much cheese. The nachos literally came out with no cheese. Literally a plate of chips with a sprinkling of lettuce. The server brought us out a side cup of cheese, this left much to be desired. Also had the house salad which was topped off with cheese. I've enjoyed veg options here before not sure what happened. Would appreciate if these options were brought back just by using the ingredients already on the menu. Removed 1 star each for atmosphere, service and food. Maybe you'll have a better experience stopping in here.

This is always a great stop when I'm in Beckley! Usually, I opt for a calzone. Today, I tried the Italian hoagie and some jalapeño poppers (cream cheese). Both were absolutely delicious. Service is great. My only recommendation would be that some WVU Tech memorabilia be displayed since Calacino's has a university sports theme. Marshall and WVU are both wonderful colleges, but it would be nice to see something from the college that is located in Beckley, as well. Maybe some jerseys on the wall or logos on a few tables? I think that would make local students and alumni feel more "in spirit."

Small portions with large prices. I ordered a white small pizza with mushrooms and sausage. I paid extra for the toppings and had to look closely for the sausage. Kind of Chintzy!. I got the manicotti and it was good but hardly had any garlic bread. I misunderstood the server as she asked me if I wanted a salad and I had thought it came with the meal but was charged 5 dollars each. It was a very bland salad but the most annoying thing was everything came pretty much at once. Had to set the salad aside to make sure I was going to eat my meal hot. Your craft beers are very expensive. There is a up charge for using your card.

My partner and I stopped here on our road trip and I have to say... it wasn't great. The pizza was underdone, and the sauce was... stale/flavorless. My partner got the meat lovers pizza and I did a diy pineapple and basil pizza. The basil also wasn't fresh, and I was disappointed with that. Moreover, when we got there we were the only ones there and after we sat down and looked at the menu, two other parties came in after us (all white people.) Even though I had been sitting and waiting for her to get off of the phone, she still asked the people who came in after I did what they would like to drink, and brought it to them, before she asked me anything about my order. I won't be back, and I don't recommend it-- honestly, I would have been better off with Domino's.

    Saucy... but bland.

2.5 honestly. It's was a $62 order for a burnt bottom pizza, 4 pepperoni "rolls", and some cold centered ribbon fries. I don't know man.... I can't say I was entirely impressed with this. I will say it was delivered ver quickly and the delivery person was delightful. The pizza was lackluster in flavor, burnt on the bottom, heavy handed in a basic sauce. (See the photos attached). Kinda overpriced for a Cajun styled pizza. Honestly... I'm not gonna continue about how bad it was. No need to beat a dead horse. Came through town, tried this place. Crossed it off my list. I don't need to eat here again, but if it's your place for pizza have at it.

We stopped in here for a late lunch after a tour at the exhibition coal mine. We found it very easily and there is a large parking lot. We went in and were seated right away. We had sandwiches for lunch which were made quickly, they were large and reasonably priced. THe food was really good. I hope to go back and try the calzone or pizza at some point. This place must have a big night life scene. There is an entire other area in the back with a stage for a band and outdoor seating If you want something good to eat, give this a try

Good food, good service, I'd highly recommend. I've been to the bar side and the pizza side, enjoyed both experiences.

By far, the rudest staff, it's like walking into a middle school click, where you're already alienated from.. unless you are a regular.

Little Sicily - A Mediterranean Hug After a Long Day on the Trails…read more After hiking all day, stumbling upon Little Sicily felt like the universe handing us a tiny edible gift. Beckley surprised us once again, this spot turned out to be such a delicious treasure that we kept coming back like well-trained food pilgrims. The food was fantastic. Truly. Some of the best chicken shawarma, hummus, and tabouli I've had in ages, fresh, flavorful, and made with clear love. The kind of meal that makes your tired hiking muscles perk up and whisper, "Oh yes, this is the good life." Service was friendly, warm, and helpful with recommendations, the kind of staff who genuinely wants you to enjoy what you order. Honestly, I found myself wishing we had a place like this back home so I could grab big platters for a party and impress everyone without lifting a finger. A traveler can dream. A great little spot, comforting and delicious, exactly what you hope to find when you're hungry, tired, and ready to be fed well.

First on the table was fresh pita, hot and puffy right out of the oven. Second was a side salad with romaine, olives and tomatoes- no iceberg lettuce here ( I dislike iceberg lol ). Finally was the sampler. House made hummus and tzatziki sauce, grilled veggies, more pita, and rice. Beef, chicken, and kofta kebabs were all flavorful and TENDER. Usually kebabs are tough and overcooked. Not here, this is the best kebabs I've ever had. For dessert: Tiramisu! Light and delicious with balance of espresso and chocolate. Waitress was friendly with timely service, often checking up on us . Highly recommend this restaurant- a culinary masterpiece!!

We were seated at what had to be the smallest table in the restaurant, right next to the window…read more My chair was nearly touching the person's behind me. Mind you, the restaurant was not packed, but they seated us in between two tables when there were at least 6 other open tables in the room. Server was quick, friendly. I ordered breadsticks, not realizing that they provide bread for the table (I made the assumption they didn't based on the menu having bread and breadsticks listed). The breadsticks were a very odd texture - seemed doughy but they were not undercooked, lots of butter & garlic. I had the stuffed shells for my entree. My salad consisted of lettuce and cut up tomatoes (which I hate), nothing more. Therefore I had lettuce with my French dressing. The entree came out quickly and looked great. However, the ricotta on the inside of the stuffed shells was super creamy and not very tasty. The sauce was ok, not sweet enough for my liking, but not bad either. The shells themselves were al dente, but seemed chewy. My husband had the shrimp cocktail, which he enjoyed. He ordered the chicken parm with spaghetti as his side. The chicken parm looked great, but seemed to be a frozen chicken patty that was deep fried and drenched in sauce/mozzarella. The spaghetti was pretty good. Overall, meh. Won't be back, but we had something to eat and supported local not a franchise so there's that.
