Our informal dinner at Bunkers was very enjoyable and hit the spot. Our server was pleasant, and returned frequently to our table to ask if we needed anything. We started out with the pretzel bits. I've had these a few times in the past, and these were by far the best. They were soft and buttery and had a memorable flavor. My first choice for an entrée was that Ahi tuna poke bowl. But alas, we were informed that they no longer offered it. I settled for a Caesar salad with salmon and my wife ordered a spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. I've had more authentic Caesar salads, but having the lightly dressed lettuce topped with a huge piece of salmon (~5 oz.) turned out to be a very filling and delightful dinner choice for the price. My wife's salad was not as large and she opted for no protein, but she seemed to enjoy it just the same. Bunkers boasts a cozy atmosphere with dark wood, a small bar and a fireplace. read more

Ehhhhh.... Kind of a mixed bag here leaning towards not good. The wings I ordered sum it up pretty well - they were good but came out lukewarm. The service here is horrible! The wait staff sits around on their phones texting along with the managers. For where it's at and what it is the restaurant is just nasty dirty and the staff could care less. The benches are wore slap out and just ridiculous. They need new management and staff!!! I'm generally guarded with my stars, but for a sports bar on a resort with no restaurants to speak of in 15 miles, my expectations were low here and they blew it out of the water with a great experience!! Everything was delicious! (see my pics for proof.) I got the 12 ounce ribeye with mac and cheese and a side Caesar. Salad was large, fresh (absolutely no wilted or brown lettuce) the right amount of very tasty anchovy Caesar dressing and lots of Parmesan cheese! The ribeye was outstanding. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Lovely grill marks and a nice char taste. Topped with some sort of parsley butter and the plate had the most delicious juice. Rarely is a steak served in its own juice and this was spectacular! Macaroni and cheese was a large portion, piping hot, creamy and tasty. One negative is the cheese flavor was mild, would've been better with a sharper cheese but it was so creamy that made up for the lack of sharpness! Hubby got the Carolina bbq sandwich. Tons of tasty juicy tender pulled pork. Nice soft bun. Very light traditional Carolina bbq sauce. (It had pickles on it which is a little odd but he took them off). Slaw was super fine chopped and fresh. Finished dinner off with the lava cake which was warm and delicious topped with 2 scoops of ice cream (we asked for an extra scoop). Good wine. Great beer. Chill atmosphere and the loveliest waitresses and hostess. So sweet and accommodating. I was here for a conference and was so delightfully surprised at the food and service here! read more

My family and I went to have a sit down family dinner after a round of golf. I haven't seen my family in months and was excited to sit down with them and talk. We ordered our drinks and food then a couple of us went and hit golf balls on the range while we waited. After hitting for 30 minutes, our waitress said they lost the ticket and are starting on our order now. It's not busy so it shouldn't take long. Another 30 minutes go by and we ask another waitress to check on our order and she came back with another story. We ended up leaving after not getting any food for over an hour and went somewhere else and honestly the food was 10x better than Bunkers. We only eat at Bunkers because it is right at the course. Definitely do not recommend eating here, the staff is horrible and don't know anything about customer service. A real restaurant would offer a free appetizer or something while waiting over an hour. Who knows when our food finally got done. read more

Been here for 30 mins and still no food--will update if we ever get it. After a 45 min wait we got our food. They gave us a free appetizer and dessert for the wait. Was the best salsa I've ever had. Not much spice but just enough for me. Got the blackened salmon sandwich and it was delicious. served so hot it burned my tongue. Husband got the fish and chips (fried haddock & fries). All the food was awesome. Just wish someone had come out sooner to tell us that it was going to be a while. We had been at the pool and were tired and starving. But we would have understood. Bunkers is a sports bar located on property for the Glade Springs Resort. It is probably about a quarter of a mile away from the hotel so totally walkable, but we arrived on a cold early winter evening and ended up driving the short distance since it was snowing. Located in the golf resort club house, it can easily be confused with their fine dining experience, but it is right down the hallway. You can tell you are in the right place with a more relaxed atmosphere, larger bar, tvs all around, and pool tables. Food is okay... I had a steak and potatoes which was solid cause I was starving from the drive up. I think the kitchen is the same kitchen that serves the rest of the grounds (also does the pizza you can order in your hotel room). Service was friendly (even on a night when it seemed like they should be shutting down so that people can get home safely). Overall - there aren't that many dining choices in Daniels without having to drive a minimum of 30min so Bunkers is a solid alternative if you are staying in Glade Springs. read more

This review is only for the pizza which is TERRIBLE. It was quite possibly the WORST pizza I have ever eaten. They would be better off just buying some cheap Totino's party Pizza's and heating them up! Seriously thought the crust was made of cardboard flour! There aren't many options without going into town a few miles but if I am ever here again I will make the drive before eating this horrible attempt at pizza. The actual sports bar is okay. My boyfriend and I stayed at The Resort at Glade Springs and because we didn't bring the proper attire to eat at the Glade Grill, we were left with the option of going to Bunkers Sports Bar. Upon entry, we were seated promptly and thought it was pretty neat that there were individual tv screens in each booth. The waitress was friendly and told us the special of the day were steak fajitas and that sounded pretty good, so I ordered that and my boyfriend ordered the Bunkers chicken. I'm afraid it all went down hill from there. The steak fajitas arrived and it looked like a really sad plate of food. The steak was literally a cheap slab of fat cut up into pieces, and I'm not exaggerating. It took me several minutes to cut around the meat pieces and I even took it upon myself to pile the pieces of fat onto the corner of the plate, in hopes the waitress would see and offer me something different but she didn't say a word when she looked at my plate and took it away. Mind you, I would have said something but we just drove 8hrs straight and were starving so I simply ate the two bland cold tortillas, the lettuce and the instant rice. My boyfriend ordered the Bunkers grilled chicken and although it was edible, it was bland and rubbery he said. He had to pour hot sauce all over it just to add some flavor. The worst part of it all was when the check came. Unbeknownst to me, the steak fajitas special was a whopping $17.00!! If I had known that, I definitely would have ordered something else. I thought it may have been comparable to all the other menu items which were in the 9-$12 range. So I basically paid $17.00 for a piece of fat, some lettuce shreds and a quarter cup of instant minute rice. Overall, it's really depressing to know that an eatery establishment within a resort can allow a dish like that go out of the kitchen. I wish I had taken a picture. Next time you offer a special, your staff should say how much it is also, otherwise the customer will be surely disappointed to find how much they're paying for the half eaten meal they just consumed. Word to the wise, I would drive the two miles out of the resort and go to a nearby chain restaurant. You're better off in the long run! read more

Stayed here on the way back from Myrtle Beach. I ordered the 8oz sirloin with mashed potatoes and it was great! Cooked as ordered and with a perfect char. The steak is marinated in a IPA based marinade. The flavor of the marinade with the char texture and flavor was a great compliment. Wish I had more items to review other than the side garden salad which was of mixed greens and fresh grape tomatoes,string onions and carrots. All fresh ingredients and the ranch dressing was tasty as well. Overall, a really good steak. Will return next year! read more

I have eaten here a few times when I am too tired to cook for myself and just want a quick bite. The menu provides standard bar food here. Considering that, the burgers and sandwiches are decent.and the service is good. I would stay away from drinking the water though, as it has a terrible tap water taste that would make you think you are drinking industrial run off, lol. read more

If you are looking for a place to eat after a long day of skiing or activities, then I suggest another place to go. The wait time for food is ridiculous. Even on a slow Sunday evening, maybe a quarter of the restaurant full, we waited almost 25 minutes for an appetizer and drink refills. Bunkers is located at Glade Springs Resort and it has one and only one thing going for it and that is that its pretty much the only game in town. The interior is as nice as any upscale sports bar you've been to with pool tables, TV's (even individual TV's at each of the booth tables), Dart boards, a nice patio that overlooks the driving green and even a small room off to the back that has some video poker games. That's pretty much the nicest things I can say about the place. I guess the staff is always friendly and they try to be helpful but the whole operation could be run a lot better. If they get anywhere more than 50% capacity it's almost like the whole operation grinds to a halt. The food is very much sub par even for "bar food" and the prices are way to high for what you get. Yesterday we ordered some spinach artichoke dip and it was served cold. The quesadillas taste off for some reason. The pasta is bland. Chicken wings, mediocre. I guess the salads are ok and they do have a specialty Garbage Burger that is what I would call good but that's about all I can say there. The full bar is nice but only has about 6 selections of beer on tap. There again this is the only game in town so it's pretty much the only reason I end up going back there. If any other place ever opened up in the area that was even a little better people would flock to it. As it is now a few of the residents of Glade have told me they usually just rather make the drive into Beckley to seek out dinning and a better option of places to go. I'd say try Bunkers out just to see what it's like but please don't set you're expectations to high. read more

We ate here twice during our stay and were really very pleased! First time they made me a turkey Rueben even though it's not on the menu and didn't charge me for an extra side of dressing. Their house made potato chips were really crunchy and tasty. Hubby had fish and chips and really enjoyed it. Their fries are almost ribbed and crisp up nice. Next night we split a pizza and got chips and salsa. Chips and salsa were really awesome, and pizza was pretty good! There is only one good thing that could be said about this bar is the dining area looks nice but that's where it ends. Service is terrible as we had to get our own refills at the bar. Had the spinach dip and it was cold and served with this terrible pita chips that ruined the whole taste of the cold dip . Ordered the chicken and wife had the sirloin steak. No surprise here as both entrees were cool to cold. Luckily our server didn't have much to do with us so I was less likely to complain. Wouldn't have done any good.
