Great place for art lessons and our kid really likes the teacher here and always looks forward to class. Classes are 1.5hrs usually and fortunately a lot of shopping around here and a relatively walkable area too for parents. My daughter began her class in the foundation program with Ms. Yana from Mountain View, who is very nice and a wonderful teacher. She helped to build up solid foundation and confidence with my daughter then referred her later transition to the Elite program, which was new to MV. Now my daughter is learning from Ms. Sherry, who is truly amazing! Ms. Sherry opened the program for this branch almost by herself from scratch. She is incredibly hardworking, patient and encouraging. She always provides detailed and constructive feedback to genuinely help her students grow. We're very happy we found CalColor Mountain View! This was my daughter's first experience attending an art studio, and joining the Elite Class has been such a positive experience for her. Ms. Sherry Pan does an amazing job balancing instruction with creativity. Instead of simply teaching kids to copy, she introduces different art approaches, styles, and ways of thinking, while still encouraging each child's own expression. A highlight for my daughter was getting to do plein air / park painting for the first time -- such a refreshing experience beyond the typical classroom setting. Teachers and lesson quality is top notch -- 5. Experience and hospitality --- 0 We are 35 mts away from the MV or Cupertino location and go to MV. Wait till the class is over and pick our kid. There are other parents in similar situation. Front desk staff doesn't have any courtesy, to offer any support - even if a waiting parent request for a chair to sit. One time I was offered a stool. When I shared it's difficult to handle the laptop and uncomfortable without any back support to sit for an hour, the person shared I can either sit outside (in the cold) or go to nearby Starbucks. Another time a parent was standing for 20 mts with no chair in waiting room. Never cared. Guest Internet was not working since Dec. First they didn't even shared till checked. Second they kept lying it was not working for only couple weeks, till a parent confronted. After it was stated due to old building issues they can never fix the WiFi though they are trying hard for 3 months now ! Our next option - cupertino location -had big glass window in the waiting room with full sun glazing in the eyes. They never cared to have a screen or something to make the waiting parents comfortable. Our summer camp was HORRIBLE experience in MV, last year, with children jam packed in class, and parents were not allowed after the hallway entry, blocked by front entrance table. Most of the front desk staff, insensitive and doesn't care. I will be dropping off soon because of this hospitality expressed. We will be missing the teachers, who are kind and very good. read more

This is a great place for students to learn art. Many after school art programs are either too traditional and focus only on technique, while some are mostly aimed at just entertaining children. Calcolor has an effective approach that is concept based. So the teacher might teach about perspective, aspect, and distance, then give students a project to work on and assist as needed. They have parents come in, then the teacher showcases the work. This seems a little forced but parents will appreciate the gesture, especially in terms of learning to appreciate student art aesthetic. In only 3 days, she finished 3 major projects, the Popsicle Stick Chair, the air dry clay birthday cake (from design to model), and a beautiful oil paining, not to mention many other fun activities and field trip to the near by park. My Daughter and I (OK, I admit, it was mostly me. We didn't have such fun summer camps growing up) were so inspired. We happened to have a bag of rainbow color Popsicle Sticks so we end up making a table to match her project. The teachers are young but very experienced. My 9 years old has been joining Calcolor Academy since October 2020. Because of the Pandemic, she started online classes. My daughter enjoyed the online classes provided by Ms Jenna a lot. Since the school provides in-person classes this fall, my daughter has joined her advancement classes in person. The school provides good Covid 19 measures and I feel comfortable for my girl to attend the classes in person. My daughter has a very busy after school schedule from Mon to Fri. But she still insists to attend the art classes because Ms Jenna teaches her lots of good skills in painting and sketching things. Apart from the enjoyable classes and art skills my daughter experiences there, I really appreciate the kindness and great help from Ms Jenna and Sunny (the staff at Mountain View location).
