This dairy haven looked too cute to pass up, and has been on my personal to-visit list since moving to this area. There will be a next time when we visit pictures will be taken Ice Cream, goodies, candies, and Egg Nog galore. Pasties to try next time. Do yourself a favor and try their flavored milks! Tasting their chocolate milk was like a religious experience... so dang good! Creamy & strong flavor. We also tried their strawberry milk which was pretty good too. Reminds me of Nesquik in some ways but much higher quality of ingredients! Stopped here twice to get ice cream and both flavors were worth it. We tried butter pecan & strawberry. I like the almost stretchy (?) texture of the ice cream. I haven't had any other like that! All in all, this is a very high quality spot to try. They also offer other treats like jams, cakes and mixes. Will definitely continue to visit! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time yesterday, was curious to see how it compared to Guernsey's in Northville. He has had their ice cream and milk before but I have not. This location (they have 2 or 3, I believe) is more like a store, and it also has an ice cream counter. I had one scoop of the cookies & cream ice cream, which was $3.09, I believe, and is a large portion. He got the peanut butter ice cream. I was impressed that they had flavors like horchata and not just the basics. Ice cream was good but not as good as Guernsey's (my benchmark). The store itself has a lot of goodies though like Calder milk (both in glass bottles and in plastic), Michigan-made products, etc. I used the bathroom while there, as well, and it was spotless. I'd definitely come back here for ice cream at some point. read more

I couldn't remember the name or where it was located for the longest time but I do now so I'll be back definitely the staff were super helpful and friendly and it was quiet when we were there also do you have any other foods there? I love Calder D, Carleton decided to stop by the new place in flat rock was not greeted with friendliness at all. I joked because I just took a bite of my candy bar as I walked in and I was looked at by the two girls working like I had a third eye on my forehead. one girl kept her elbows on the counter as they talked didn't ask me if they could help me with anything or did I find everything OK I was very uncomfortable... not going back to FR location. read more

This new store is huge. Open for a few months now, it has everything the Lincoln Park store offered, plus a huge sitting area, more products and tons of parking. You can't go wrong with their chip dip, ice cream or chocolate milk. read more

Since this store has opened, my family and I have visited a few times for ice cream. Every single time it's been bad. The most recent visit I got my wife the ONLY no-sugar-added flavor (vanilla), and for myself the horchata. My wife noted that hers was full of ice crystals--a problem we experienced in previous visits. Mine was chewy--yes, CHEWY--and had an off-putting chemical taste. I'm always willing to give a local place more than one try. But Calder's ice cream lost me after strike three. At least their chocolate milk is aces. read more

We stopped in here the other night to grab ice cream quick, and be on our way. What an awesome place! The staff was awesome, they were quick, and very friendly. The ice cream was a great portion for the price and the flavor was outstanding! We had the pumpkin, black cherry, sugar free vanilla swirl (something of the sort) and the peanut butter chocolate chip. We can't wait to come back, even if we have to go out of our way! read more

The best ice cream shop in town! Our neighbor introduced us to Calder Dairy & Farm by giving us their cherry ice cream on my sons birthday. Ever since we have gone back for their cherry ice cream, mint chocolate chip, and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. They also have amazing dip, meats, ricotta cheese, and most importantly great customer service! read more

Many years ago while living in another town I use to have delivery. A few months ago I found their store in Flat Rock, MI and went in. We bought an ice cream cone and it was Heaven. We ended up buying two cartons to take home. I know they are pricey but, it is well worth it. I make cutbacks to save money but, no longer when it comes to ice cream. I am going to start buying my milk there. They have milk in glass bottles; I still believe cartons changes the taste. Do try their ice cream it is better than my homemade, so rich and creamy. And the flavors, good luck trying to pick one. read more

I've been a calder dairy customer for 30 years. Was very disappointed in the Flat Rock store. Had a family gathering and was shocked with their products. The sour cream was runny. French onion dip was also runny and lacked flavor, had to add onion soup mix to it. We got ice cream while we were there, it was gummy. I'm so upset and disappointed. read more
