The front desk staff were very nice, but the clientele felt like the inmates at Leavenworth prison. Particularly one short, overly tattooed, white runt with spiky hair, about 40, wearing wireless earbuds so he can't hear all the negative things people are saying about him, who sits on machines for 20 minutes texting and not allowing anybody else to use them. I asked if I could work in and he said he had one more set. Then he started texting like a 15-year-old girl for another five minutes. I finally said something to him and he acted like I was the one being the jerk. What a tiny, sad life he must have, always trying to prove he's "tough", even to people that are friendly to him. Probably got bullied in elementary school and has been taking it out on the world ever since. Then I tried to use the other lap pull down machine, and the second guy using that one gave him an attitude about working in on it too, even though I asked him in a very friendly way. The first guy got up and walked away from the machine so I finally got to use the one I wanted to use in the first place, but then he came back and said he was still using it. This is about 10 minutes after I asked him if I could work in. We got into a ridiculous discussion until I finally had enough and told him he could have the machine if it was that important to him and that he clearly needed the little victory more than I did. I have two black belts and could've mopped the floor with him, but I just wanted to finish my workout. I walked away and used a different machine and observed as he and some other guys joked and laughed about it, trying to regain whatever actual pride he has, I suppose. And it suddenly dawned on me that the regular members at this gym are purposely harassing new people because the gym is probably overcrowded and they want to intimidate people so they won't come back. This should be a great concern to the manager because he's going to lose a lot of business running a gym full of jerks. They seem to have created their own little mafia, except without the actual deadliness. I would suggest hiring somebody that doesn't use the gym to pose as a new member and try to work in with some of the muscleheads in there to see if this is a strategy of theirs. When I was leaving, I complained to the front desk, but they didn't even offer to take a report or show any interest. They were very nice, but the right thing to do would've been to ask me to point this clown out to her so that she could know who the troublemaker of the Jim were for future reference. If that was my gym and there were short man complex afflicted butt flaps like him treating classy members like that, I would cancel their memberships. This gym is way out of my way. I was only there because I had some business in Nampa that day so I won't be back. If I do happen to need to use the gym again, let it be known that Shorty has used up his one free pass.

I picked Nampa Fitness for a few reasons…read more 1. NO CONTRACTS!! Almost all the reviews for other gyms in the area have complaints about cancellation fees or being able to stop a contract. I didn't want a contract because I knew I would only need the gym a few months out of the year when it is too cold for me to run in the mornings. The only stipulation is you have to physically go in to the gym and fill out a cancellation form 10 days before they bill you again. I did go in to cancel my membership in December because I hate fighting the first of the year "rush at the gym" and it was easy peasy. Filled out the short form, didn't get the "hard sell" from the staff to try to keep me either. And, wonder of wonders they actually stopped billing me as promised! (Unlike Gold's Gym a few years back who "lost my cancellation paperwork" and blamed me for not having a copy of it). 2. No frills. They have decent equipment & free tanning. I never used the tanning bed but it was nice to have the option. I would have liked if they had a few standard stair steppers and not just the 2 Jacob Ladders machines. Good weight machines, good treadmills, good bikes and elliptical machines (although a couple of those are in pretty rough shape). They don't have classes or classrooms but they do offer personal training. 3. Open 24 hours. Use your code to get in the door. It's that easy. 4. Only $25 a month! Plus tax. Overall the place is clean and not overcrowded. I will definitely become a member again in the future!

What bothered me even more was the way the staff handled the membership. I felt misled about the terms, "no contract cancel anytime", and once I realized it wasn't what was promised, it became a huge hassle to cancel. I had to push back hard and even threaten legal action before they finally agreed to end my membership. Overall, I would not recommend this gym based on my experience. There are plenty of other places that are cleaner, more transparent, and far more respectful of their customers.

There are always going to be some issues, because these clubs get so much use. I'm sure it's in their contract or whatever but seriously. I was charged an extra 50 dollars one time because, even though I had given them my bank info, their system wasn't charging me. I gave them the debit card itself and that worked but I was still charged for their failure. Then they charged me an extra 20 the next week for being 1 day late on payment. That was my fault but still. Never again.

I recently found…read moreout the beloved couple who have taken care of the wall for the past 5 yrs are no longer there b/c of hardware (caribbiner) failure that caused one of them to fall 15'! You'll notice the gym suddenly has new harnesses and no longer use caribbiners for the climber to clip in. The caribbiner choice was Manger John Burkey's who wanted to save money. The question is now whether or not the wall is safe to lead climb. Its hardware has been there for over 35yrs and apparently management is still too cheap to call in a 3rd party to inspect and update it.

2013 was the first time I heard of Crossfit, my response was heck no, it sounds too intimating. I…read moream "not fit" for that. I was overweight, aka obese. I hate that word, has such a negative vibe to it. So, don't overthink this, you'll understand why, as you read on. It's now Sept 2016, 3 years later, I was a Groupon whore, always looking for a good deal, Crossfit2C ad appeared like countless of other times, this time I said "What do I have to lose, let's try it". Realize I had no expectations other than to make a fool of myself as a gym misfit. I am a person who researches before I decide on something, I signed up at a wimp, with no clue of what it all entailed, I may have discouraged myself if I had. 1. To my surprise the first weeks is all 1-ON-1 with a certified trainer, learning fundamentals, focusing on stretching, warming up, and new movements. I didn't feel overwhelming awkward and alone. What a sigh of relief! 2. I've never seen a gym where strangers are encouraging and cheering you to finish a workout and/or accomplish a personal achievement. An atmosphere that is conducive to growing and having fun, they call it a "Crossfit community". You feel a sense of commitment to your newly found Crossfit family. The best of part of my experience, is the new friendships I've never had before with other females, who share similar interests like running races, hiking and hanging out for coffee/tea dates. 3. Last, but not least, this is a kid and pet friendly environment. Folks bring their well-behaved pets to sit and watch. No such thing at traditional gyms. I've been a member at this box for 2 1/2 years, there has been positive recent changes, to name one, promotional activities inside and outside the gym. Turns out all that apprehension and intimidation was for nothing, everything is scaled to YOUR level. You will find folks of all backgrounds and skill levels in that gym.
