Use to take our cat here, but have since moved to a better establishment…read more Vet would grill us for our cat for being overweight, but wouldn't offer any sound advice or solution to help him lose weight. My wife would ask for a prescription of metabolic diet catfood so we could order it off of Chewy, but the vet would not write us a prescription and would only make suggestions like "hiding his food around the house" (we have a dog, so that wouldn't work anyways).

In July 2021, I brought my cat Simon in with a swollen, inflamed leg/shoulder. After taking an…read moreXray, the vet (Dr. Ed Susmilch) was concerned that it likely could be due to bone cancer, so I scheduled a biopsy. A few days later, I brought Simon in and met with the doctor. He had consulted with a colleague and had concerns that, regardless of the biopsy results, the leg might not be salvageable. I asked about amputation (which was already brought up in the previous visit) and, after discussing options, made the difficult choice to remove my cat's limb. Dr. Susmilch was supportive of this and agreed it would be best for Simon. He performed the surgery and I was able to bring my brave boy home the same day. The staples/stitches from the surgery were clean and there was minimal swelling, no blood/pus and my guy was already hopping around the house. Cut to one week later and the biopsy results from the amputated limb came back: bone cancer. The only course of treatment: leg amputation. Not only did Dr. Susmilch and his staff save my pet from having to undergo an unnecessary bone biopsy (both invasive and painful) but he saved me time and money by paying special attention to Simon's illness. I would highly recommend Prairie Side Franksville if you're looking for a talented, skilled vet who cares more about helping animals than guilting worried pet owners into spending unnecessary money.

I KNOW MY DOG. SO we go to Mayfair vet hospital. NOT PYOMETRA. they didn't even get why they'd tell us that. a simple uti OH! And the vet tech said SHE TALKS SO MUCH! I said is that aggressive?? She laughed and said no she just thinks she can talk. the people at beechwood did nothing but worry me, make me feel like an idiot cuz I might be endangering my kids because perhaps I missed something. and then when we said we didn't have $600 to just check to see they acted like we were trash. UNTIL we said we bought a house 2 months ago. then the attitude changed. I felt judged. I feel taken advantage of because they ordered hundreds of dollars of tests for a condition she didn't even have more than one symptom of. I cried and cried cuz I thoyght my dog was dying. assholes. don't go here especially with a pitty. they don't do surgery on "anything" ( they called my dog a thing too) over 45 pounds.

After making an online booking for an in-home euthanasia I called to ensure that this was actually going to be our blessing. Not only did they were reassure me that they would come but I received a phone call and a text message that someone was on their way. This was over and above what was shared. Dr. Elhe was compassionate and took the time to know our story and what an EPIC dog she was helping put at peace. She even sent a card sharing her sentiments. It was just a few days later that we received notification that Remus's ashes would be coming soon. We could not be more grateful!!!

By the afternoon he was not better, I called our Vet again and was told to take him to an emergency or urgent care. We make an appointment with Oak Creek Urgent Care on Howell Ave. We got there and was told there was one person ahead of us for a room and the other rooms were full. After an hour and a half, watching people that came in after us get in (I totally understand urgency) I asked them how long was this going to be. We were told it would be at least 45 min to an hour to get into a room, after that we would be waiting for the one and only Vet on staff that day (on a weekend) I explained he has been vomiting all day, 13 times to be exact and that is an emergency. He was also very passive, which is totally not normal for him. I was told the same, 45 min to hour to get into a room. We then left and went to Blue Pearl and they got him in right away. Long story short, they took him in back to examine him while we gave all of the history and his medical history. They did bloodwork and unfortunately, the only humane thing to do that day was to let him cross the rainbow bridge. All in all, before we got the news and after we got the news, Dr Olson was fantastic, caring, and listened to us. They kept us up to date on every step. After the news, we were put into a room to wait to see him, again, the staff was so very caring. I cannot express enough the caring that was shown, how appreciative we are at such a difficult time. And also to have the experience to know a real emergency and take him in right away, not let him lie and wait. Thank you to all of the staff and Dr Olson for what I feel is going above and beyond. Toby says thank you also.
