I had been going to Elmbrook Vet for the last three years. I first found them when I moved to Brookfield, and even after relocating to Wauwatosa, I stuck with them because they had been good to my dog--until now. My dog has been dealing with a minor ACL tear, and I've been carefully managing her recovery. At our annual checkup, I brought this up to Dr. Nelson, hoping for guidance on anything more I could do to support her healing. Instead of offering any helpful advice, she dismissively told me to "just let the knee tear" and "get ready for surgery." She then added something along the lines of, "Oh, and be ready for the other knee to go--just so you know, it'll cost about $3,500 per joint, so you better start saving up." This was beyond unprofessional. Not only was her response completely lacking in empathy, but it was also condescending and inappropriate. A vet's job is to help pet owners care for their animals, not to assume financial situations or push surgery without discussing alternatives. Needless to say, I will never be coming back here. If you want a vet who actually listens and supports you in making the best choices for your pet, look elsewhere. read more

This clinic has cared for my various dogs for probably 30 years now. The quality of veterinary care they have received has been exemplary and fairly priced. Moreover, the staff has been kind and empathetic not only with my dogs but with me. Currently, I have a dog who is gravely ill with cancer and receiving chemotherapy at a specialty clinic. Overnight, he developed extreme nausea and vomited what appeared to be blood. I wanted to avoid a trip to the specialty clinic because it is so stressful for my guy. I was able to text our regular vet at Elmbrook who got us in right away to administer injectable anti nausea medication and subcutaneous fluids and sent us home with two medications to help with the side effects as well. We were in and out -- including 20 minutes travel time each way-- in just over an hour. Total cost $61. Feeling cared for and having my beloved guy feel better? Priceless. This is just the latest example of Elmbrook going well beyond what I would have expected. I have LOTS of similar stories. The clinic is the best. read more

I really love this place. Our family took our family dogs here as I growing up, and now I bring my own pupper here for regular care. I am a grad student in NYC, but we come here whenever we are home for breaks for all our checkups, procedures, vaccinations, routine tests, and all other non-emergency-related issues. The staff is so caring and seems to truly want to do everything within their power to help pets live their best lives. Also, at least compared to NYC, prices are very reasonable! I have nothing but good things to say about Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Yehle has treated my dogs since 2006 and Dr. Neimann has treated my cats since 2015. Dr. Yehle is awesome! He knows my dogs inside and out, knows ME and how to work with me (just as important!). I've received test results from Dr. Yehle by phone at 10pm -- he works far beyond clinic hours to serve his patients and I have total trust and faith in him. At the first appointment I had after I had to say good-bye to one of my cats, Dr. Neimann hugged me and cried with me. The compassion and professionalism I've experienced at this clinic is wonderful. Had to fix labels on screen before helping client with no 'thank you for waiting' response. Wait time was too long - double book clients. Desk clerk had attitude. I bring my two dogs here and the staff is amazing. I recently had an emergency with my dog and was greeted with compassion and kindness. The doctors are extremely caring. We were very well informed on the treatment. We were afraid we would lose our girl since she was having seizures. After treatment, by the next day, she was 100% back to normal and happier than ever. I have had dogs my entire life and had some good and bad vet experiences but never have had a bad experience here. I can not recommend them highly enough. read more

Awesome and then some!! My cat Mia had a very large lump on her stomach & I was worried. I knew she had to go to the vet, but I was very hesitant on where I wanted to take her after my last, horrible, experience with a different vet clinic. My girlfriend posted something on FB about looking for a vet and a bunch of people suggested Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic. We decided to give it a go. I brought her in on a Friday morning to have her looked at. Right off the bat my cat adapted very well to her surroundings, which never happens with her. She was a bit scared but after a while she warmed up to it. Ginger took a look at the lump and gave me the run-thru on what they would do. She set up a kennel for Mia and by the time I left Ginger was able to hold Mia without her struggling, crying, hissing, etc. Mia takes a while to warm up to strangers so I felt very comfortable taking her to Elmbrook right away. After Dr. Niemann looked at her she called me & told me that it may be cancer and that we should get x-rays of her lungs to make sure that nothing had spread. Long story short, they drained the fluid, took x-rays & told me to schedule a surgery asap to remove the mass. The next Friday I brought her back in for the surgery, they removed the mass & I was able to pick her up that day. The surgery went well & after receiving a call from Dr. Niemann today, I was told that they were able to remove all of the mass & that this is the best outcome we could have hoped for! Mia should be just fine!! The staff there is friendly, knowledgeable & saved my cats life!! They are not super expensive either!! I can't explain how relieved and grateful for everything they have done!! I found a vet clinic that I am completely satisfied with and I will be bringing Mia AND her brother, Duke, in to Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic from now on!! Thanks!! read more

Very Professional and friendly staff. I moved away out of town and have looked at other clinics near me and just haven't found anything that felt right about coming. Appointments are easy to book. DO NOT VISIT DR. MAROLD. We had the most horrific experience this evening with Dr. Marold. He has horrific bedside manner and should not be tending to animals. As we checked out from our appointment, we let the receptionist know about our experience and she told us that they get this feedback on Dr. Marold quite often and agreed that he does have a bad bedside manner. If you want a vet who cares about the service they provide to both you and your animal, DO NOT choose this man as your vet. read more

HORRIBLE!!! I took my sick old dog here, they couldn't figure out what was wrong, they were offering to run tests but I didn't know what I wanted to do because she was very very old. Here comes the horrible part... so I was trying to get ahold of some people to decide if we should put her down, while trying to get a hold of someone the front desk kept asking me "have you figured out what to do yet" in a rude manor! I finally decided to put her down which was heartbreaking, I wanted to be with her in her final moments, when I got the bill I was informed they waived the fee they charge to let you be in the room with your pet! EXCUSE ME! I have talked to many vets since then and not one has ever charged a fee to be with your pet!!! These people are uncaring and heartless! read more

Arrived on time for an appointment with my puppy and It took 30+ min t get me checked in. I saw techs going out pick up other dogs and had to call to remind them I was outside waiting. Had to leave due to an appointment. I was more disappointed when I didn't even receive an apology for keeping me waiting or an offer to schedule my puppy's appointment at a later date. read more

Beware that you will overpay and won't always get what you paid for. They will charge expensive exam fees everytime, even if they are doing a follow-up booster shot (even when they or another vet just saw them). They have also billed us for medications but only provided them after a month of asking--no longer needed so we wasted money on medications we can't use or get refunded. To make matters worse, the vet (may be retired now) made persistent negative comments about ours pet, rude and unprofessional. read more

Very happy with the service we receive here. We have 2 cats and a dog and I'm impressed with how they handled each one. The vet usually takes a little bit of time letting the animals get used to them before checking them out. They ask the owners about the animals and how they act. They're very open to giving advice to us, very receptive of our concerns and reassuring. The facility is kept up well and very clean. read more

I love coming to Elmbrook. I'm always greeted and they get me in right away. Dr. Niemann is fantastic. She really helped my cat Tinkerbell when she first had an eye-lid that was inverted. There was another doctor that performed the surgery, and it went perfectly. A few years later Dr. Niemann helped her when she got cancer. I had to take Tinkerbell in on the weekends at non-working hours and they always was able to get a doctor to come in to see her and give her fluids and check her out. Dr. Niemann definitely extended her life. And when it came time to put her down, she and the clinic were so wonderful and sweet. We recently moved to Germantown but we still come here with our other two cats. They take such great care of our cats. read more

My cat was crying in pain. The clinic got us in on a busy Saturday. There was an issue, but it wasn't as serious as I thought. They fixed her up and sent us home with instructions on how to care for her. I give the clinic five stars for efficiency and cost. read more

We love these guys. Dr. Marold saved the life of one of our cats 8 years ago, and we are so grateful. Recently our teenage (i.e. older) cat had a health crisis and all the staff and doctors were great, and he seems to have come through it very well. We have moved and now live quite a few miles away but still drive to see Dr. Marold & Co. because we trust them so completely. When we travel we board our animals there, and they don't seem like they've missed us that much when we return, so I surmise they are getting very loving care in our absence. I also like Dr. Yehle. And I can't complement the vet techs enough!!Most of them have been there for years and are just so nice. read more

I'm a nurse and run behind, at times, at work. It's the nature of the business. I was running a little behind, for which, I called ahead to see if we could still get in. They assured me that we could if I arrive in 15 minutes. My appt. was at 1:30 pm. I got there at 1:44 pm...they checked with the vet and said, we'll have to make another appt. I said I got here at 1:44 as I looked at THEIR clock the minute I got in. I also needed Heartguard but couldn't even have the first step of being tested for Heartworm. As new clients we never received a treatment plan and were shocked when we received a bill for cleaning our yorkie's teeth for over $400. When we talked to our vet he said they conducted a study that said there charges were in line with the industry. Not so. Our previous vet charged less than half that amount We weren't offer any relief for the outrageous bill. And the vet, when leaving a message to that affect, called me by another first name. read more

My dog was lethargic, not acting right. I knew something was wrong, it was a Sunday morning and I didn't want to wait till Monday. I took her to Elmbrook and they immediately took her in to run some tests. Turns out if I had waited 1 more day she probably wouldn't be here! She has a disease called Addison's and was in crisis. If it hadn't been for Dr. Yehle's quick assessment and action she would've died! I've since read up on Addison's and I guess it's something that vets don't normally diagnose because it can present as many other things. I can never thank Dr. Yehle and his staff for their quick thinking and actions that saved my babies life. read more
