The food is very tasty and I love the artichoke French. I also get their fresh loaf of bread. The soup is yummy too.

I had an amazing dinner at the Caledonia Village Inn. The Chicken French was melt in your mouth delicious. The Caesar salad came with the meal. It was perfect. You have a choice of Caesar salad, garden salad, or soup to go with the main meal. Our waitress was fantastic. The dining room is beautifully decorated. I did not want to disturb other dinners so I did not take photos. If you are looking for a special place with exceptional food, then this is it. Others at dinner with me enjoyed their food as well. This is an old school place, in most of the best ways. It's a lovely room, all weathered wood and small town charm, a place that hasn't changed in decades, and that's how everyone likes it. This is the kind of restaurant my in-laws are OK with, because even though the prices have crept up with inflation, they still start you with a nice loaf of bread, and your dinner comes with soup or salad (meaning, you don't need to order appetizers unless you need a massive amount of food). Civilized. The main dishes were probably very simple once, and now have been gussied up a bit for the 2020s; my Strip and Rings is still a nice cut of meat, cooked properly, with onion rings, but now it comes with a bacon tomato marmalade and a nice dippings sauce for the rings. However, as I'm sure it did in the 80s, it also comes with some steamed veggies (the same ones that come with everything). My wife's salmon was nothing to write home about, but it was also a solid portion, and a decent value. I would go steak over seafood here every time, however, and the waitress instantly concurred with that when I asked her to pick between the Ahi Tuna and the strip. We started with martinis, and we flagged down the waitstaff for a second round, they immediately assumed we just wanted boxes to pack up the rest of our meals. I think it was less that they were ready to kick us out (although I don't like me much either), and more that their typical clientele doesn't have more than one martini on a Wednesday, because they are heading home early to watch Murder She Wrote reruns. And to be fair, Murder She Wrote rules. All in all, I like it. read more

Although it was quiet at 4pm, the restaurant filled quickly. Our server, Michaela, was outstanding. She was very attentive, yet not intrusive. We didn't have one complaint about any of the meals or desserts. Ambiance was nice, clean interior and bathrooms were well cared for. Went here in a party of four on a Sunday evening after an event at the nearby Genesee County Museum. We made a reservation and were promptly greeted and seated at a nice table in the first floor ding room. The ambiance of the establishment is a mix of turn of the century and earth tone modern, it was an inviting space to spend a few hours. The restaurant was fairly busy but our drink orders were taken and served promptly. The waitress was pleasant and attentive as she brought freshly baked bread to the table. Our entree orders were taken and were a bit delayed in arriving. Our waitress refilled our bread and drinks until we were served. I ordered a short rib special which was quite tasty. I haven't been here in about 10 years but I will definitely be back sooner next time. It's a beautifully maintained old building with great food and service. They have a somewhat limited menu of about 10 entrees, but there is good variety and they are all quite well done. Everything is fresh, house made and house butchered and it comes through in the quality of their food. Prices are a bit above moderate; entrees range in price from about $24 to about $40 but what you get is well worth the price. I don't know if reservations are required, but they are highly recommended. read more

We went here today for their Ice Festival. This year was nothing like previous years but we still had a great time and exceptional food. The head chef and his brother carved an ice sculpture to pay tribute to nurses and firemen. They only had pub food but it was delicious. I have never been disappointed in this place. Valentines Day 2024 - dressed for a fine-dining experience, and seated in the bar area. People walking in with "Carharts" clothing were placed in the dining room and we were placed in the bar area. Never in the past were we automatically placed in the bar, and we were not told on the phone that only the bar area was available for dining. Such a disappointment for this establishment! Then the salmon was over cooked and the polenta cake was burnt. Cocktails could not be bad though. read more

Terrible food that is very overpriced. Owner is extremely rude and caters only to locals. Upon being placed at a table by the door, I asked the owner if we could move to a quieter location and she flatly told me that every table was assigned already. Clearly there were around 10 tables that were completely open even after we left. I ordered filet mignon and wanted it medium. It came out practically raw with some sort of disgusting sauce on it. My potatoes looked like someone threw up and it landed on my plate. It even tasted worse than it looked. Then as a garnish there was a huge hot pepper on the top. The prime rib will melt on your mouth. Friday night is fish fry specials and I highly recommend the broiled haddock. Parking is on the street with no problem. Needed to find a restaurant between Buffalo and Rochester for New Year's Eve. We had a very large group of 20+ people. We contacted the Inn and made a reservation. Although none of the tables could accommodate such a large group, we were offered the entire Bar area tables. We accepted this offer and our whole party was glad we did. From them time we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel like we were regular customers. Service was outstanding. Our server was extremely attentive and didn't miss a beat. Then we got to the food. New Years Eve dinner has been a tradition for us for the last 25+ years and I can not remember the last time everyone in our party was happy with their meals. Unbelievably delicious is the only way I can describe it. Do yourself a favor and the next time you are traveling East from Buffalo, take a small detour from your route and give them a try. I especially enjoy the chicken French and my husband has enjoyed the NY strip steak and swordfish. The meal portions are very generous and come with delicious warm homemade bread (gluten free available too) , soup or salad. The desserts look delicious but haven't been able to indulge because always too full. On our last visit our guest who was celebrating a graduation was treated to a special dessert-victory cake - on the house and our other guests were treated to some delicious homemade Italian cookies. A pleasant surprise ! Very friendly and professional staff- the owner makes her rounds to see if all is good and if you need anything. Everything that we ordered here is delicious. The fish fry is tender fresh crispy and a large portion reasonably priced. The accompanying cole slaw is unique and also very good. First time at the Village Inn, even though we live right in the Village. We have young children (twins), so it's tough to get away. The food and service was fantastic - we both had the prime rib. Since we were out for a special occasion, we ordered dessert. The chocolate cake my wife ordered was a little dry on one edge, but the Kitchen Sink Sundae was amazing - Spanish peanuts are the key topping. Anyway, great food, great atmosphere. Went with a large group,16, so immediately you see if the wait staff was capable. Our waitress did an excellent job. The interior was comfortable and eclectically furnished. The menu was diverse with many different items. They served hot bread prior to the meal that was delicious. I had the octopus app which was very good and the ny strip steak and the victory cake for dessert. The reason the restaurant only got a 3 star rating was the quality of the steak. It was a bit tough and grainy. I didn't feel like sending it back and going through that exercise and was definitely disappointed. I thought maybe it was the grade they buy and if they are not getting prime then they should move up a step on their grades. This is my favorite restaurant. The food is so delicious that even before I finish eating, I start planning my next visit. My favorite salad is the tavern salad, but even their dinner salad is perfect! My favorite meal is the lasagna because it is delicious and lasts for three meals. The Bleier family also catered my daughter's wedding. There were almost 150 guests and everything was beautiful and beyond delicious. Our guests were thrilled. Three stars instead of two because our first experience was superior to this one but my memory is foggy on the details. We just returned from our second and last visit here. It was the service that let us down first and foremost. The food could have been better but it was "roast night." I went to a pizza joint and ordered a burger and it wasn't good. If you don't understand the metaphor, the sarcasm in this review will be counterintuitive... We had to ask two staff members beside our waitress for water. My soup was awful. I didn't even consume one full spoonful. At the site of my full untouched bowl, not one question was asked how it was or if I enjoyed it or why the fuck it was completely untouched.. My job was to be attentive to details and I got blown up for driving over a bomb in the road so I changed jobs. A little extreme but it gets the point across... (Didn't change jobs, blood runs blue with infantry) Food arrives and we eat what we can. It was honestly disappointing but that comes with taking a chance. We then wait for our waitress. And wait. And wait. I finally got up to find her when she came over and we got our leftovers boxed paid and left. She had one other table on our side of the restaurant and it was a big party. That's not an excuse. It was slow. What do you do with 8 small groups or individual diners. I come from a line of work where excuses are not tolerated, period. I'm really trying not to go down that road. Moral of the story is, at a 50% success rate, you know the odds of your outcome. read more

I have been dining at theVillage Inn under various management since I was a child (in fact, my parents met here!) and I must say that Lisa and Jeff are doing an amazing job keeping the feel that us locals have enjoyed for generations while also breathing new life into the menu, as well as the interaction with the community. The food is always fresh, cooked perfectly, and served in a timely fashion. The service is professional and inviting, and Lisa makes a point to visit with every guest and make them feel important.
