We made our dog an appointment here because our groomer didn't have any availability until almost a month out, and he needed a cut ASAP. The grooming was pretty good, although they left his tail pretty scraggly. The price was pretty steep. It was $70 or more. They said they weren't able to trim his nails (which didn't surprise me, because only our groomer is able to trim them, our dog is seriously traumatized when it comes to getting his nails taken care of). When I went to pick my dog up I was up at the front counter getting ready to pay, and one of the two groomers that were working on a dog started to yell "STOP IT" at the dog. The lady helping me (who I presume was the owner?) looked over her shoulder at the groomers. I was super uncomfortable, and hoped that they were spoken to once I left. But it was really startling, because that's what they did with a customer in the store... it made me wonder what they do when there are no customers around. I debated writing this review, because I didn't see any physical abuse, and I didn't want to destroy a local business. But today in the neighborhood watch group I saw a post about this shop saying they witnessed something similar. Now that I know it's a reoccurring thing, people should know. There were other people who said they witnessed yelling as well. After seeing this I knew that I would never return. It definitely concerned me. So beware. read more

At 8:58 they opened the door to another girl with a dog so I kindly asked if it would be ok to drop off my dog so I can attend my meeting and the response was "no we are not ready and for future references we open at 9!" If you love your pet, do not bring them to this place for grooming. I made that mistake last weekend and never again. We have a 9 month old goldendoodle puppy, we've been taking him to nearby groomer here in San Jose for his previous grooming sessions. We were going to be visiting our friend in gilroy and found this place on Yelp so we decided to drop him off while we visit with our friends. Our last groomer was good with our puppy but didn't quite know how to cut doodles. So anyway we thought we give someone else a try....what a mistake. So two days before, I called around and Cali was one of the places I contacted. I spoke to a lady over the phone (I can't recall her name). I explained my dog's needs and I asked her questions re pricing, duration of the session, products they used, and what a full groom included because I also needed his teeth brushed. After my inquiry, I was satisfied with the price I was quoted ($80) and I was clear I have a 45lbs dog. I know from experience that groomers charge by weight/size. So I scheduled the appt in 2 days and we showed up at our appt time. The lady looked at our dog and said he'll be $110-$120. I told her I was quoted $80 over the phone. She told me it was not going to be $80 and that was probably just for a wash and dry. I told her no I made sure to ask about the services included in the price I was quoted. The lady (with blue hair) then called to another lady in the grooming station. She was not friendly and was stern and just flat out told us it's $110 and ignore what I was trying to explain. She made no effort to look up the info when I said she can look up who I spoke to since the time and date would have been logged. She went on to say it's my misunderstanding and I can take it or leave it. Since we drove all the way from SJ I decided to get my dog groomed. I should have left in hindsight and I'm kicking myself for not listening to my inner voice. I called around 1pm to check to see when I can pick him up. Most groomers are 2-3 hours then this is when I found out they are a high volume groomer where they work on 30 dogs at a time. I spoke to the lady grooming my dog, she said it's minimum of 4-6 hours! I have never heard of a place keeping your dog for that long. My poor puppy has always been one on one with a groomer and no other dogs around to make the situation even more stressful. I was really upset when I found all this out and I demanded to get my dog back at 3pm since we had made dinner plans and can't wait til 5:30pm to get him. We dropped him off at 11am mind you. I relayed that over the phone, the person quoted me 2-4 hours for grooming time. This is much longer than what I was originally told. She said if I didn't like it, I can pick up my dog and they just won't groom him. I was floored with the tone and the response. Not sure how these people got such great reviews. Or perhaps we're just super unlucky. We were able to pick up our dog two hours earlier than they quoted so thankfully we made it to dinner. When we got there, my puppy didn't seem to recognize us and was just sitting on the floor looking lost and confused. I was heartbroken. At drop off, we saw a small dog sitting on the table barking his head off while waiting to be picked up, everyone ignored him. In the past, when I go pick up my dog at the groomer, he's soo happy to see me and wags his tail. At this place, he looked miserable. The guy behind the register said it's $125 for the grooming when I checked out, I was again just shocked how it went from $110 to $125. He asked the lady behind the station and she said $115 is fine. I paid $5 bucks more for teeth brushing. (was told this would be complimentary since we're first timers when I booked the session) Also, I'm not sure if they give the dogs water while there because when he got home he drank two bowls of water. Like none stop! he was sooo thirsty which makes you think if he's been without water the whole time there. So this place lacks customer service, they bait and switch you on the pricing, is crazy expensive given its location and being a high volume groomer, didn't ask for the rabies certificate like we were told would be needed so that's just not safe for us pet owners who want to keep our pups safe. Oh and did I mention they shaved our dog in spots? No explanation or anything! We got called when they had to shave a small spot on his ear due to matting which we agreed but there's two BIG bald spots on his body that just makes no sense! We had to find it for ourselves when we got home. Enough ranting this place is a negative star for me. read more

We have a 6 mo. old golden who is still extremely wiggly and not great with social settings yet. Cali Pet Goodz was SO patient with her, was able to fit her in for a spa session after her outdoor mud bath in our own backyard and they have a variety of products to help pamper your pooch when you're ready to leave. I do not recommend. The staff caused severe distress to my dog. They lied and told my husband that all the services were all done except for the drying. So he payed and tipped. When my Sky came home I found her very dirty and nails untrimmed. I went back to the salon with my dog and the front lady was so rude and had a million other lies. Eventually i caught her in her lie and called her out on it. I was told the told that Sky had so much anxiety that they were unable to do any of the services besides just wet her. Then she said they wet her three different times in an attempt to bath her. They said i was charged for all the services because of their time. My issue is if they saw from the start that the dog was in distress why even continue to try and keep re traumatizing. Why not just call us, why lie and charge us like if all services were done. We started bringing our shitzu Koko (4years old)here a year ago, in the past we have tried Petco and other private groomers for him because he is not a fan of having his paws trimmed with the clippers & past groomers have even gone as far as suggesting to sedate Koko but I just didn't feel it was him that wasn't wanting to be groomed because he likes to be brushed so I Yelped groomers in the area (Hollister) and found Cali Pet GoodZ. They are AMAZING! The staff is always so friendly, Cheerful, accommodating, reasonably priced and just nice, you can tell they all have a genuine love for animals. They ALWAYS deliver exactly what I request for Koko they even go as far as using the shears for his paws to make sure he gets a good paw trim. Koko likes coming so much that in December of 2021 we added a husky to our family by the name of Rose' (5 months) she too likes going to Cali Pet GoodZ and as always they groom her so well too! I have been taking my 2 dogs to Anastasia for more than a year. She is a very good groomer, but the place as a whole needs some better time management training/ethics/disposition. Every single time I took my 8 Lbs maltipoo and my 20 Lbs miniature Schnauzer they stayed at the place for more than 4 hours, usually they stay over there more than 5 hours. Im no expert, but I believe it is too stressful for the animals. My schnauzer is always matted BUT I always tell her to just shave him and just keep the Schnauzer cut on his head, so not difficult, I think.... Só, today when I called after 4hours snd 40 minutes I was told they would be ready until 2:30 PM. I dropped them at 9:00 sharp. And when I complained the lady just hang up on me, so I'm done with the place. read more
