I ordered chicken pho and despite basil being mentioned as one of the garnishes it was nowhere to be found. I asked and was told they were out of it.... Basil is one of the best ingredients and they really should let customers know it won't be included as it states. I wouldn't have gotten it then. I went last year and same thing happened. I guess I should have made sure they had basil before ordering? Do they ever really have it? I mean it's in their name after all. I'm used to Vietnamese restaurants where when you order Pho you get a plate of bean sprouts, basil leaves, and a lime to add to it as you wish. They don't do that here. Ambience is so-so. I went here for the first time ever last week and am so glad I did. It's a fast casual setup and ordering is super easy. We ordered a pork Banh Mi sandwich and shrimp spring rolls. They did not disappoint! I hadn't had Vietnamese food since maybe a year before the pandemic began, so this was a great reminder of how awesome it can be. I found the fried springrolls not terrible, but not freshly made to order. They are sitting under a heat lamp box in the front of the store. due to concerns around freshness and temperature storage of the meat in the front unit, often go vegan. The good: The pho is great, fresh, made to order and honestly never had a bad bowl of soup, and love how you can customize meats. The fresh spring rolls are noodle heavy, but good overall. This place popped up as having good reviews. I went there today and I can tell you this place is pretty remarkable. It is in a strip mall, but the restaurant is nice and clean with plenty of sitting areas. There are multiple choices for food including banh mi, pho, vermicelli, rice and noodles with different proteins and fresh veggies. I can tell you that all the vegetarian options are excellent. The broth for the vegetarian pho is very flavorful, and the fried tofu and fried egg banh mi really hits the spot. There are lots of fun sauces to eat with your food including sambal oelek, sriracha, hoisin sauces. The staff is very friendly and answer any questions you have about the food. You can watch them make the food which is fun for the kids and adults. And, you can take the food to go. The pho was perfectly delicious as takeout. They separate the broth from the vegetable so you can mix it yourself when you get home. I'm really glad there is a good Vietnamese restaurant here on the North Shore that is casual and family-friendly and healthy and tasty. read more

The grill beef inside is so sweet, no flavor,no grill taste but cooked slice meat in water or oil. The beef noodle soup is so bad. I had to take off half of the noodle in the bowl. There are only 7 small size 2"x2'" of fresh beef in the bowl. The broth is so bland. It is not worth for the money you spend. Not Vietnamese food. Never to come back and not recommend it. read more

The noods are fresh and pliable rice noodles, and the veg option comes with fried tofu, broccoli, carrots, bean sprouts, and sliced mushrooms. It's not easy to find banh mi in the Northshore, but Calibasil has it, along with a number of other Vietnamese dishes. Many options are vegan or can be made vegan. We got the tofu banh mi ($8), but veganized it by omitting the egg and sauce. It's really good, with crispy, flaky bread and a wonderful savory flavor to the tofu and other vegetables. I'm from Southern California where Vietnamese Pho is available everywhere, but good Pho is hard to come by. I also travel to Hawaii where it is just as plentiful. So I was surprised at how delicious the Pho was here! Perhaps in my top 3 of best broths ever!! I liked that they added the basil, sprouts and jalapeños, saving me the trouble, and not wasting. In these times of COVID-19 awareness, finding a good takeout restaurant has become essential. And Calibasil fits the bill. They are serving up tasty Vietnamese fare "to go" the right way. Their food and garnishes are made to order with custom instructions available on their website, such as specific check off lists for what protein, veggies, spices and even if you would like to add extras like more meat or noodles to your dish. We ordered pork spring rolls - an order of two is a meal in itself! The pork chunks were plentiful and the rolls were huge! Along with that we added two orders of pho, one spicy and one regular. We chose which meats, garnishes and veggies we wanted. Everything came tightly secured in separate plastic bowls to be mixed together at your own home. You can ask your server for all the typical condiments to be added to the takeout bag like hoisin and sriracha sauce. Even peanut sauce for your spring rolls. We also have our own spices stored in the kitchen cabinet at home. What's really nice about the takeout packaging is if you order pho, the broth is separated, so you can pour it into a pot and make it piping hot if you have a bit of a drive back to your home once you return. Our meal was amazingly fresh and delicious. They also offer stir fried noodle dishes and rice plates we will try in the future. And a full apps, smoothies and dessert menu as well. I hate giving poor reviews but these subs and egg rolls are far from authentic and were done so poorly. However, for the untrained pallet, this will do. The bread is what you'd find in an American steak & cheese (Vietnamese subs are famous for the crunchy baget. The Mayo was basic American not Vietnamese, the meat was ok but far and few in btw. We ordered 2 bowls of beef broth pho, a fried egg and tofu banh mi, a ham and pate banh mi, a Thai iced tea, Vietnamese iced coffee and a mango lychee iced tea. The pho was really good and has great seasoning to it. You don't need to add in hoisin sauce. The banh mi's were ok. The ham and pate tasted more of a ham and mayo sandwich. The tofu and fried eggs was ok too. The drinks were really good! Their Thai iced tea isn't too sweet but perfect sweet. The mango lychee iced tea is very addicting. Has a ton of awesome taste to it. My GF had to reorder a 2nd cup because it was that good. Their Vietnamese coffee is pretty strong, definitely will make you wide awake. Overall experience, wonderful service. Friendly staffs. We've been here quite a few times. When they first opened the food was tasty but they struggled at times getting food out in a timely manner. In the last 18 months, things had got better, so we went there about once every month or so. Until this afternoon! When we went in, we noticed 2 different people working the front. We ordered our food and had to correct our order twice with him mistakingly thinking I ordered vermicelli instead of rice and also mixing up my protein. My wife also asked for cilantro on her meal and he clearly said, "No problem". Well, we sat and sat. We saw at least 4 other customers come in after us, order food and then get served. When we asked what was happening, we were first told, "Just a minute". When we pressed and mentioned others had food before us, the woman said, "We've run out of cooked chicken. IT HAPPENS!" We got our food after almost 30 min with no apology at all. And by the way, no big deal, but my wife's meal didn't have cilantro. Also, no soda available as their machine wasn't working. We won't be back for a while and if I do return and see the same two people working, I'll leave and try a number of other eateries all close by. read more

My Co-worker Sharon and I both love Vietnamese food so when we ended up in Beverly and needed a lunch break we discovered Calibasil. (Very hard to find, BTW w/ GPS). Anyways, the order at the counter restaurant has a excellent variety of Vietnamese dishes to choose from such as fresh rolls, pho, bun, and ban mei sandwiches. My pho was good but missing the usual fixing on a "special" pho, bac biet ... Like tripe and tendon. The broth was yummy. The 2 meat combo rice plate was a bit dry...meat seasoned well but was hoping the grill pork was actually a whole pork chop instead of sliced.
