No open carry in store (except for LE). I understand that you need to have rules in place for handling firearms for your staff's safety. I feel like you can do that without negatively impacting the personal protection of anyone choosing to enter your store. Open carry is not an inherently unsafe activity. I will not support a gun store that does not support my second amendment right. read more

I absolutely must tell everyone what Calibers did for me regardingmy less than steller purchase. I was contacted by Stephanie S. Business manager and she advised me to contact Craig Strumpf Director of sales. He asked me to come in so we could talk. He offered me my ENTIRE refund via gift card (store credit) even though I shot the gun at the range a few times. I was able to get the firearm that best suited me because of this. I was not expecting that kind of customer service, amazing in this day and age. Plus his staff took the time to educate me even further on different options. Seemless experience thank you so much staff. I have to wait 7 days to pick up my new firearm and I'll defenseless for that period but that's a govener thing not a Calibers thing. All I can say is wow it's a rush something about having a gun in your hand and having control using it the right way it's it's a great time. I hit the bull's-eye right away. The guy help me I haven't went shooting in many years. I listen to what he said and sure enough I got bull's-eye I would recommend this company. I'm new to the area. Some of my friends recommended it. We all went had no plans spur the moment and enjoyed ourselves. This is one of those fan boy reviews... I am stunned by how cool this place is. I went to the range and rental to try a pistol I am considering purchasing. They were very helpful. And made the experience very cool. Talked to the staff for quite a while and they a are all top notch people. I HIGHLY recommend the South East location. 3/22/2023 Left my vintage "Baby" Browning my husband gave me in 1966 to be cleaned last week....I called today and they said it was ready but that a piece was broken off....said it was wood...I went straight there because there was no wood on my Browning Baby, and it definitely was not broken when I left it?...short story...they broke the left gun grip, and had the broken piece just lying in the zipped case.....no offer to step up and replace it..no acknowledgement that they broke it by Adam.....who offered to order me one for twice the vintage parts catalog cost.....and then charged me 53.dollars ....they are not a very honorable business if they can break your gun and then offer to charge you double to replace the broken piece they broke, and never talk about how it happened...Adam said,"it is old".. Yes, I carefully explained its' age and 30 years of non use...when I left it there ......but cared for carefully....I just paid and left....expensive lesson.....I would suggest a more trustworthy business for your future repairs...... I WISH TO ADD TO THIS REVIEW TODAY.... I gave them a one Star review on 3/22(see above)..... and thought that was it.....then recently I was contacted by the Senior Store Manager of Calibers, Robert Pohl, saying that that he wanted to fix this situation...and that his Head Gunsmith , Jandoshua Rector, would be contacting me.... and he did...and he asked me to bring my Baby Browning in and they would replace the broken grip with the appropriate grips, clean it again, repair it, test fire it, at no cost to me...So a surprised me took it in, met Joshua and left the pistol.......and I picked it up this morning... and it looked wonderful...as good as it looked in 1966 when my husband bought it for me at Andy Andersons in Oklahoma City.... I am thrilled and grateful and wished to add my current review as of today....five stars to Robert Pohl, Joshua Rector, and Calibers....they are competent and honorable people ... and my advice is just to deal with the top folks if you want something done right....and stand up for yourself...and they replaced both grips, so that they would match. No 380 range ammo but they have defensive rounds. Take it or leave it ,at least that's the impression that they gave us. Been there before. Rented weapons and range time. First time with our own pistol , we took a CCP class elsewhere. We will never go back. If it could have been less with a membership, no one could have been bothered. Very surprised to be treated so cavalierly. I realize ammunition is not easy to get right now but..... it is or was a major aspect of their business, since you can't bring your own. read more

I've had calibers back and have taken their classes, I even bought a class while they were closed because I support 2A and small biz. Went in to buy today, disappointed in their service and attitude. I'll be buying somewhere else. I don't recommenced this place if you plan on asking questions. Respect is a two way street, I was looking for help and you treated me like someone who just came in to use your restroom and bounce. You can buy a gun anywhere, and prices are great online esp for accs. Customer service is the differentiator, and you guys need to step up your game, I say this because I was working with "the boss" on duty. read more

After a 2 year hiatus from target practice I figured it was time for me to get my arse back to the range. I had never been to Calibers before and, up until now, had been content with gambling on whether the day would be sunny and warm enough to travel to the west side to the city range to practice my aim. I decided to take control of my schedule and venture to Calibers. Although it was a little pricey, $25 for one shooter and an additional $15 for a second, it was nice to be indoors in a climate controlled environment. The gentleman that assisted us with checking in was very friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. He didn't make me feel incompetent because I am a woman at a shooting range. If you don't own your own firearm but still desire to practice your shot they offer a large selection of guns to use/rent while you're there. You will need to purchase ammunition as well if you don't supply your own. Very nice establishment. Very friendly employees. read more

I was looking to shoot some subcompact machine guns today. I came in, filled out their waiver got to the counter and they did not have any of the weapons I wanted to shoot. I was looking to shoot an MP5, MP7, MAC10 and SCAR. The guy says we have an AK47 and an UZI. LAME... don't waste your time with this place. read more

I wanted to come stop by here since I was traveling from California. Our experience was great. Staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and informative. My girlfriend and I purchased the BOOM package that allowed us to fire 4 full auto weapons as well as the .50. Will definitely be back here if we find ourselves in Albuquerque again. read more

My husband I decided to go to Calibers. I've never even touched a gun in my life, so I figured I'd try a new hobby. The staff acted like we were a nuisance to them as soon as we got there tho. We told them we had never been, but they still weren't very helpful. I was hoping someone would give us info on classes they had available, or even give us some type of spiel about how the range works, or at least a little info on the rental units but nothing. My husband finally implied he wanted more info and the attendant just gave him a weird look and went over it in 2 min. but didn't even try to show me. The range was cool looking at least and the other customers were very helpful and nice. read more

Pretty sweet spot to blow up some rounds! And might I mention if you have never shot a 50 caliber round before and have always dreamed of doing so without having to buy the actual rifle, this is the place to go to be able to just rent and shoot one! It was my husband's birthday weekend and he wanted to add to his man card by shooting this heavy loaded arsenal. I believe the only thing we had to pay was for each round to shoot which was 10$ each. I think he wanted to shoot 5 of them. He wanted me to try it too but after watching his first round shot with the whole damn building feeling like an earthquake, I passed up on it for now. I'm only 5 feet tall and didn't wanna risk my little shoulder to be injured for now. The place was set nicely set up with their counter in the middle to better assist anyone throughout the store. The guns and rifles on display were well organized and had an excellent variety, especially for all the weapons you can rent out to shoot at their indoor range. Super friendly and helpful staff too which is always a plus. Will definitely be back to try out more guns or rifles! read more

There are many reasons to love this place: 1. GUNS. AMERICA. FREEDOM. 2. I don't own a gun. I don't shoot regularly. I can't name every variation of a handgun. What I can tell you is that is no excuse not to become familiar with guns. When I walked in to Calibers, I knew it would take a few rounds before I was anywhere near comfortable firing a weapon. 3. I was honest with the man at the counter - I hadn't shot in years. He asked me what I wanted to shoot, and I just said "a handgun." He smirked and showed me around the display cases. Once I selected the gun I wanted to shoot, he took me step by step through the operation of the gun. From unloading the magazine to proper hand position to looking through the sights, he covered all the bases. There was no pressure, I never once felt like I was being rushed or judged. They wanted me to be safe, be comfortable, and enjoy the experience. 4. There's something invigorating about firing a gun. The adrenaline, the power, the velocity; it excites so many senses. With "guns" streaming in news headlines, I wanted to become more comfortable with them, but in a safe and non-threatening way, and that was and is easily achievable at Calibers. I highly recommend trying it out! read more

Just went here for the first time. Great store and range! The people were super nice and very helpful. The range rules were spot on, totally reasonable. Range fees were also reasonable. I worry about getting shafted on ammo at ranges, but Calibers seems to be in line with other places in town. Only bummer is that they had no 10mm in stock. On the plus side, if you have always wanted to pre tent to be Rambo, and you have a couple hundred dollars to spend, then you can come here, rant one of several full-auto weapons, and blow off some serious ammo. You have to buy their ammo, of course, but that's no different than anywhere. In fact, you can try out a wide array of guns in case you are in the market or just want to try something different. Any, best of all, they have a Yelp offer where you basically get $20 off your fees! How cool is that?!? read more

Last week I took the Concealed Carry Permit Course with Gary Antal as the Calibers instructor. Gary is professional, riveting and most importantly knowledgeable. Gary exposed the class to up to date facts, rules and the state of concealed carry in NM - very worthwhile. Plus, Calibers/West-side is just a great place to do this. I have also been a Calibers member three times over the past 20 years and am about to sign up again - convenient, great staff, well-kept facilities and offering any and every piece of equipment and/or service you could want at reasonable prices. Anyone who says otherwise about Calibers has not been around to and shot in facilities located in other states as I have. We are lucky here in New Mexico to have Calibers. I would give them six stars if possible. read more

I've been to shooting ranges in many states as my work keeps me traveling and staying in different parts of the country for extended periods. I usually don't travel with my weapons. Came in today to rent a firearm and get in some range time. Having never fired a fully automatic AK before they were super helpful in demonstrating function and form prior to and at the lane inside the range. It was a lot of fun and for a great price. Contrary to what some other reviews say I felt really well respected in there and the range officer who came out with me even took a video for me. I didn't catch your name but you know who you are if you're reading this. Anyway you told me to count the rounds on target when I got home and 45/90 on the green doesn't seem too bad for my first time; more than I thought i'd land at least. read more

When I see a gun shop with multiple location I immediately think of premium $$$ in their prices. I was pleasantly surprised that some were priced at retail and some a little below. They had a decent selection of accessories for all kinds of firearms. A bonus for LE types - they are a Glock blue label dealer. There was an indoor range with the option to rent various guns to try before you buy. The store was clean and well organized and range as clean as it can be. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We didn't buy this time but when we have a need or desire to do something with firearms this will be our 1st stop. read more

Our indoor environment is a consistent 71 degrees and its high-volume HEPA air filtration system uses the same technology as hospital operating rooms to remove 99.97% of airborne particulates. We have a huge selection of handguns, rifles and full-auto machine guns to rent and even more firearms in stock for sale. So I FB messaged her about registering and she walked me through the sign ups. She even messaged me to confirm the number of people I wanted to register and when I would get location information. When I didn't respond to their email, she messaged me to let me know. Sure enough, the email had gone to my "junk" folder. The class was two days: day one in a classroom and day two at the range. Nice class size, and very interactive. Love how we take a class to carry a weapon but learn all the things we need to look at to avoid getting into a confrontation where taking that last resort is necessary. We were also assisted with filling out our CCW paperwork which made that a breeze. Steve is an excellent instructor and very professional. Out on the range he was super patient and helpful to anyone who was a novice or needed extra help. Made sure everyone understood the rules again and that everyone was safety-conscious. He got us all qualified and we didn't even realize that's what we were doing!! We also were able to buy ammo to shoot other handguns that were available. I would highly recommend taking a class through Sierra3Alpha if you are considering any firearms training.

The caveat is that the final approach to the U-Mound gets more complex and I gave up. But there's a consolation prize: the term "U-Mound" is apparently also used to refer to the general rocks in the vicinity, which are approachable via the easy trails. Given the incomplete maps online and reviews of the difficult trails around Embudo, the TL;DR take is that you should look for the 401 trail if you're into scenery but not trying to re-enact some grim 2012-era Sundance movie. There are many elevation options. While I didn't see wildflowers in April, there was a great cacti assortment. Geography note: there are buses relatively close to Copper Trailhead but the ABQ Ride schedule is not generous. As of press time there were no post-sunset buses so I took Lyft.

First time at this little trailhead and it was definitely worth checking out…read more I've been trying to be more intentional about spending time at the open spaces and enjoying all of the great outdoor space the city has to offer. This area is family, friendly with a ride of different trails and pet friendly as well. Like other areas in the foothills do you have to watch out for cacti and other hazards. Still enjoying the views is worth getting out here. There's a good amount of parking and additional parking further out.

I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like waiting 30-45 minutes to jump 2-5 minutes on a trampoline or do a water car ride or whatever other poorly managed activity.
