Yelp reviews confirm it And i lived it this morning Required a training dog collar, items like that require a trip to Cabelas in my book Now expensive items like my collar are locked up. Ok. Makes it hard to spin the box to read up on the items but ok. Found the one i wanted Went up to customer service desk and asked for help in dog collars since they are locked up Went back to the collars and waited. And waited Went back to customer service again and asked for help to unlock the dog collars Went back to collars and waited and waited Almost ready to give up. Shelf stocker walked by in green cabelas shirt and i asked him to unlock the dog collars. He did what i asked begrudgingly then asked if i had completed my shopping so he could take the collar to the cash register Oh boy. You bet i'm done shopping! It was an okay experience, but I am not sure I would choose them over REI or a generic online product next time.

It's worth signing up for their emails because you can stay ahead of the specials that way - however this can be injurious to your wallet. I just visited to select, buy and pick up a new heater and I want to make a point to thank both Lance and Ray at the gun counter - they were friendly in addition to being professional and their spirit made these visits nice. Sportsman's Warehouse doesn't get five stars only because they are so brutally understaffed at the gun counter - it simply takes a long time to get anything done because there aren't enough staff there to handle the amount of business they have going on. I'm sort of surprised that management doesn't address this, as I see people getting tired of waiting and walking out of the store every single time that I visit. Management, you're leaving money in their wallets: they came to spend it, and you don't have enough staff to take it - get with the program!

I recently went to The Outdoorsman to buy a rifle. They didn't have one I wanted in stock so I…read moreasked them to order it for me. The manager asked that I pay in full for the special order, which was fine, but earlier a different employee had said it was half down for a special order. I also picked up some ammo and left. The next day, I took the receipt out of my jacket pocket and looked at it closely. I saw a rifle from a company I'd never heard of written down instead of what I asked for. I went back in, asked about the discrepancy, was first told that it was the rifle I'd asked them to order for me, then (when I reminded him of the conversation we'd had two days before), I was told that it was "essentially the same"...an entirely different manufacturer with a different reputation is not "essentially the same." When I asked for a refund, the manager initially told me that there would be a 15% restocking fee...for a gun I hadn't asked for and that hadn't even actually been ordered yet (the fact that they are happy to take my money up front but also happy to delay putting the order through is another matter). Eventually, they refunded my money. I will hesitate to ever give them any more of it in the future though unless I have no other choice. Both the manager and the salesman were rather disagreeable to deal with. (Note: Blaine, who has helped me many times over the years, remains great. If you absolutely *must* to go there, ask for him).
