Listen, the onset was rough. My niece said she wanted an archery kit for her birthday, but it's an expensive venture. So, I thought I would let her try it first. We called to schedule a practice session. I was told "you don't have to book, it's first-come-first-serve, except Thursday that's when we have tournaments." So, I took my niece on a different day of the week. Got there at 1pm. The staff looked at me like I was CRAZY just walking in expecting to shoot. I was embarrassed. I told them that I tried to schedule and was told "don't have to," I explained it's hard to just plan a time to take the niece out and this is her bday and her bday gift. They told us to come back tomorrow "around 5pm" to shoot for 45mins and they would comp the rental, and we would just pay for the instructors time. So, we went back the next day. Instructors were GREAT, equipment was great. Went from flinging the arrow on the ground to hitting my target head-on (niece obviously better than me). The environment was friendly. We get to checkout and it's $90. I don't question it. I get home and my partner says it was only supposed to cost $45... they forgot to comp. So he calls, he's upset, and they end up refunding the whole amount. Look, I'm not trying to get free things. The planning was inconvenient, staff communication a little inconsistent. But the experience was a HIT. Overall, I was so thankful my niece had an amazing experience that I didn't think twice when it came out to $90. For the instructional sessions and equipment-- that's a good price. Was even happier that it ended up being free. If there is one thing I can say: they make things right. 9/10 recommend. read more

Somehow elitist and not knowledgeable at the same time. First trip in unplanned to buy some practice arrows and was told, "we usually have you pint you bow in so we can figure out what kind of arrow you need." Well I'm not going home and coming back my friend. Just point me to the arrows if you don't want to actually help. Second time I came in for a standard arrow guide replacement and was told I could order one and return to the store later for the $4 very standard item. Why would I order it to the store and have to drive back instead of ordering online? Basic components out of stock tells me I should just order my components elsewhere anyhow. They are definitely composite bow oriented. When I came in the guy didn't even know I was talking about when I asked for replacement arrow guides for a long bow. read more

We decided to purchase a new bow for our grandson and went with the best place possible. Jesse was our tech for the day and he got us set up right. He made sure that my grandson got to pick out colors for the string that he liked. It is little details like this that make all the difference to a 5 hear old. Jesse made sure to measure him up, explain all the rules and most of all make sure he was having fun. He gave him lots of encouragement to make sure this became a fun sport for him. My 15 y.o. daughter wanted to try archery and I thought it'd be fun to give it a go myself since I haven't held a bow since I was a teenager. We called and set up an appointment for the two of us to be taught together. We're complete novices and we were excited to try it out. When we got to Hit or Miss we walked in and were told to go thru that door (vague pointing towards the north); "Yup, that one" -- it was marked "Employees Only". This leads to an indoor shooting range. We stood around for 5 minutes watching some folks practice shooting. Finally a young man came up and handed my daughter a bow. No introduction, no asking our names. Heck he wouldn't even look at me. He didn't say much as we watched more shooting; what I later learned was a 'range session'. When that was over he told us to go to the corner. I asked if it was noted on the reservation we'd made that it was a lesson for two? No, he answered, and then he wandered off without explanation -- turned out it was to get another bow. He never asked our names, never introduced himself, and most importantly, never asked if we had any experience. He gave us some basic info on how to hold the bow and our set our stance, then wandered off to find some arrows and targets. He didn't give us any vocabulary either... I asked what kind of bows we were using and found out we had compound bows. My bow was too small for me and when he told me I was holding it wrong I told him it was too small and showed him my arm-span. He said, "yes it is too small, but that's all we have" so I ended up having to shorten my pull by bending my left arm. He gave my daughter 10 arrows and gave me 5. Mine were longer but since there were only 5 I ended up not being able to shoot much during each 10 minute range session. I asked another customer if there was another archery store in Albuquerque, and he told me about the Archery Shoppe. We'll be visiting them soon since we were both very unimpressed with Hit or Miss. I haven't ever felt so unwelcomed and unwanted at a business establishment. It's too bad since we are both very interested in learning archery and willing to spend the $$ for equipment, range time, etc. I sure hope archery isn't all about snobby pros sniffing their disdain at novices like us. If it is I guess we'll use YouTube videos and Amazon to figure it out. read more

We recently moved to the area and found this place to shoot our recurve bows, the range is really cool, I especially like the 3D targets. Today my husband and I decided to buy some compound bows, and every single employee was awesome throughout the whole process! They let us try out a few bows and once we chose our winners, they helped us in setting up our bows and picking out anything we'd need/want. Being my first compound bow I was a bit nervous but one of the guys helped me tremendously by teaching and coaching my form. I absolutely enjoyed my archery class at Hit and Miss Archery. I called a day before and asked to be scheduled for a class for the following day. The team said they could accommodate and that I was good to go. I came on the day of my class, and had my own personal session. My trainer Andre ( I believe I spelled his name is right) was awesome! He showed me proper form and how to NOC my arrow. I asked him multiple questions which he had no problems answering. We had a fun session with rentals here today! We didn't take a lesson but the quick instruction from the staff was helpful. They have a lot of fun 3D targets. There's a full shop with stuff for shooting and hunting. The staff were really nice and we had a great time! read more

Great indoor range, but unless your one of the boys you better be prepared to wait for a long time.

My girlfriend and I have been taking Archery lessons from Cody and we're having a great time. He is very thoughtful and is teaching us the correct way to shoot. We also go in to practice on our own and the rest of the staff are very nice, professional and helpful. There has always been plenty of room and the atmosphere is friendly and safe! read more

I'm not a hunter at all, in fact I'm actually a vegetarian, but I had the best time coming here with my 6 year old daughter today learning how to shoot the bow and arrow! The staff was friendly and supportive and the "shooting range" was organized and clean. A nice young man that works there helped my daughter to make sure she was holding her bow and arrow the right way. They moved the fake animals closer for her so she could practice on them. They even clapped and cheered words of encouragement to her while she was practicing. I really appreciated all the help and even though I was helping my daughter this time I can't wait to go another day by myself so I can shoot the arrows myself :) read more

My first time here, just moved from Arizona and was looking for a Archery place that I can get my stuff. I called and spoke with John, got the location and went there few days later. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by everyone and John was there to help. He tuned my bow, check everything to make sure that it was ready for my hunt. He went above and beyond what I expected. They have up to 40 yard range and selection is better than I've ever seen. The owner is there to make sure everyone was helped. What else can you ask for? Nice job.
