I knew I was having multiple surgeries over an 8 hour period so I decided to contract Calicia Care for my after care. They made transportation from the surgical center to the hotel, to my doctor's office for post op checkups and back over the course of 2 days so easy. I didn't have to worry about my medication schedule and dietary needs. I needed help getting in and out of bed as well as prescribed walking and the round the clock nurses were amazing. I had a very a very positive experience with the nursing care I received from Caliciacare during my postoperative recovery. My nurse Claudia was exceptionally attentive, compassionate and professional throughout my stay. She regularly checked on me, managed my pain promptly, and made sure I was comfortable at all times. She explained medications and procedures clearly and she never missed assisting me to the restroom even though it was just 5 feet away from my bed. What stood out most was her kindness, she asked me, "who will take you back to your hotel after your appointment? I'm not exactly sure where to begin to describe the heavenly experience I had with Erika and her wonderful Team! In this current world filled with "Karen's", I do need to say this one thing...while I don't normally like to critique other people for their personal opinions of a Company or Group, the negative, snarky 1-star reviews posted had to have been written by the type of individuals who are happy only when they have SOMETHING to complain about or are chronically critical of life in general and have no room or understanding of respect, reality and compromise. Again, this is only my opinion and documented to prevent potential Clients from staying away from CALICIA because of those petty reviews. That said, I returned home two days ago after a much needed three night stay to get a head start on recovering from a surgical procedure. As a 24/7 Caregiver to my younger, brain injured Sister, I knew that a few days in Aftercare would be beneficial to recharge my body and mental energy before going home and return to everyday life. After contacting several other Agencies in September and describing my unique requirements for the stay, Erika provided the most comprehensive and thorough information which left no doubt at all as to who I would be working with. She replied to my emails so promptly, which made me feel extremely confident that I was going to be in good hands. We kept in contact through the months leading up to my surgery date and even though I live 20+ miles away from the Aftercare Hotel Location, a Driver was sent to my home for the transport through Los Angeles freeway traffic. Eskinder (my Driver) is an absolute Gem and Gentleman! Even though I was a little groggy and foggy headed, we had one of the most interesting and thought provoking conversations that two relative strangers could have! My first night Nurse Claudia, pampered me in a way that I personally have never known! Lying in a nest of fluffy pillows and a soft comforter, knowing that my Sister was being cared for by our closest Friends...I was just floating...releasing my stress, worries and anxieties. I slept so soundly and woke up feeling like a brand new person! The meals provided by the Kimpton LaPeer Hotel were ample, nourishing and absolutely delicious! During the three days my Nurses worked in 12 hour shifts, so in addition to Claudia, I was blessed to meet Amber, Dana and had two shifts with Helen. It was a bit like a big-girl's slumber party; sharing personal histories, laughing over funny experiences while working, all while they maintained their professional demeanor by ensuring that I had my medications on time, assisting me in and out of bed, making a special iced tea, and giving me wonderful, helpful advice to continue proper recovery at home. The cherry that topped my stay was my actual room!!! I requested a room with a veranda. Weather permitting, I hoped to sit outdoors with a book to take in fresh air and sun. Due to a little kibosh, the first night was not spent in a veranda room. Hey, things happen. But Claudia got right on it and messaged Erika to advise her of the situation. Erika messaged me to assure that she was working on the issue and it would be corrected. As far as I'm concerned, if there wasn't an available Veranda room, it would have been perfectly fine. It seemed that the Hotel had a lot of bookings for the weekend. Well, the following afternoon I was relocated to a different floor/room and much to my surprise and jaw dropping pleasure, I was upgraded to a BEAUTIFUL Suite!!! The Suite was exquisitely furnished and the large patio could be accessed from either the living room or the bedroom. I'm certain the cost of the Suite was beyond what I had paid for, but Erika reassured me several times to not worry about those details, but instead just asked me to just enjoy the Suite and rest. I know that this review is rather long, but I felt it necessary to give as much detail of my Stay with CALICIA as possible. I especially wanted to encourage every potential Guests to not put much weight behind those negative reviews, but instead see how Erika goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of her Guests. My third night as stated from owner was not free! She called a week later asking if she should charge the same credit card. Instead of $2,400.00 per night, the third night would be at a discounted price of $2,100.00. That is not free! After not following the proper protocol by calling my doctor and sending me immediately to Cedars, which I got a Respiratory infection and a $25,000.00 bill from Cedars. After my surgery, as soon as I was good to go, I was picked up from the surgical center by a nurse with a chauffeured car and was driven straight to my hotel and escorted into my room. After my surgery I was required to have after care over night. My plastic surgeon's office suggested we use Calicia Care. Erika was so helpful and kind with all of the questions I had before my surgery. The day of my surgery I was provided with ride to the hotel that I stayed at for the night. At the hotel they were able to pull through the back and have me enter from there, the hotel staff was very friendly and had a wheelchair waiting for me when we got there. I utilized Calicia Care following a surgical procedure that required overnight care by a nurse. From transportation to meals, care, and accommodations.... I couldn't have asked for better. My nurse, Claudia, made sure that I took my medication, ate when appropriate and provided an unexpected level of nursing care, including assistance with mobility, regular checks of blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc. I did have some complications while in her care and she was more than qualified to get me through it. If I had been released to go home instead of requiring Aftercare, I would have ended up in the hospital due to these complications. I used Calicia Care for post-surgery transport and my driver was very kind and caring. I don't recall her name since I was post-anesthesia (it might have been Erika? but honestly can't say for sure). It was a short trip from my surgery center to where I was staying but still I appreciated someone experienced and caring with post-op patients as I was definitely not feeling well due to the anesthesia. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!! I was having major surgery (non-cosmetic) and required around the clock care & attention. My only regret is not booking more nights with them. They seamlessly moved my hotel reservation when I needed to stay overnight at the hospital at the last minute. The car service picked me up at the hospital right outside of discharge and I was loaded in the car with the help of a nurse. From start to finish every nurse that we encountered was truly wonderful & caring. They handled communication with my doctor, when I needed different medication and made sure it was called into a pharmacy close by the hotel. They made sure I had all of my meals and snacks in a timely manner, especially when taking all of the medicine required. Communication between the nurses was fantastic. As they work in shifts, one would seamless come in as another would leave. But they were always brought up to speed with my current status and I did not have to tell them anything. They were able to clear my drains (I had 4), change my bandages and assisted me with getting out of bed. I could not have done this alone. (I honestly could not have kept up with all of the postop care on my own (It truly was a full-time job) and I was so incredibly grateful that she was there.) Claudia was well versed in best post op care practices (far more so than even my surgeon) and it was reassuring and calming to be in the hands of such an experienced and knowledgeable nurse. Her guidance and care resulted in me avoiding making mistakes that would've endangered my safety/health or delayed my recovery. We asked for a 48 hour care service which was previously spoken to you about since months ago. You informed my wife 10 minutes before the new shift that the nurse had called in sick. You asked my wife if she could stay alone for "10 hours" until you could get a hold of another nurse to care for her. She couldn't move around on her own, just to go to the bathroom she needed help. Her medications had to be given to her on a timely matter. How dare you go there ?!The way you manage your business shows your lack of respect, empathy, kindness & professionalism. Since the initial arrangement with you a few months back you showed you arrogance and lack of interest. We hired you through my wife's doctor recommendation. I would NOT recommend you to anyone at all. The day of her actual surgery a nurse showed up 3 hours after she was at the hotel. You were there but are not trained to help at all.
