After a recent lumbar and cervical disc replacement surgery, done on 2 separate days, my doctor arranged for me to stay at Pearl Wellness Center. I truly can't find words to describe how incredible my experience there was. I stayed here after having surgery to help me breathe better. This is the only place my surgeon recommended I stay at. I only wish I remembered the names of the nurses who helped take care of me. Grace is the lady who helped me arrange my stay. She's amazing. Super friendly, helpful and made me feel like I was the only patient they're taking care of (I know I'm not but that speaks to how attentive Grace and the rest of the staff is). The nurses are amazing. Coming from me, that's saying something because I'm also a Registered Nurse. They came in on time to monitor my pain and my vital signs but in such a way where I barely woke up. They kept icing my eyes and my face constantly around the clock to help prevent swelling. I truly appreciated their care. Whenever I was hungry or thirsty, they brought me whatever I wanted off of the menu they provide for their patients. Some of my favorites: - chicken broth with crackers - oatmeal - pineapple juice (excellent for healing but talk to your doctor first) - THE SMOOTHIES (I loved the mixed berries with banana and protein powder) I realize that this doesn't sound exceptionally tasty but when you're fresh out of surgery and groggy, these tasted heavenly to me. The nurses helped me up and out of bed when I needed to go to the bathroom. They helped shower me when I was able to take a shower. They literally rearranged my bazillion pillows and told me to readjust my head so that I wouldn't potentially develop dependent swelling. When I mentioned my neck was sore and I couldn't figure out why, one of my awesome nurses made me a neck roll out of towels. Literally brought tears to my eyes because it got rid of the pain immediately. I also had massive food poisoning from room service the night before surgery. Grace not only brought me broth and crackers but she talked to the hotel to make sure the room service charges were addressed. If I ever were to have elective surgery, I would definitely come back for my post surgical care. One of the best experiences I've ever had, and I never thought I could say that about anything that coincided with agonizing post-surgical pain. I had to get my wisdom teeth out, which as an adult is a much more serious matter, and was concerned about being on my own during a very painful recovery. I decided to go with Pearl, and it was the wisest decision I could have made. From start to finish, the ladies at Pearl were nothing short of life-savers. All were kind, attentive, patient and incredibly caring. The room was gorgeous and the Le Labo amenities were a treat (special thanks to Jess for hooking me up, I heart you, girl!). After they picked me up from my surgeon's and took me to my room, they already had a giant wedge pillow on the bed, knowing that it would help me sleep better. They checked my vitals twice a day, made sure I constantly had ice or heating packs, and were completely on top of my med schedule. They are literally there for you 24/7, and they genuinely really care about your pain and well-being. They even called my parents after my surgery to let them know I was okay. If you need anything ever, just send them a text and you get a response within seconds. They make delicious custom smoothies. I was also able to order food from outside, have it delivered to the hotel concierge, and the nurses would bring it straight to me (and keep any perishables in their own fridge/freezer). What really sealed the deal for this 5-star rating happened on day 3, which was meant to be my last day there. I was having a lot more pain than normal and Helen (who is so lovely) strongly felt that I needed an adjustment with my medication. Rather than tell me to push through it, she worked tirelessly to find my surgeon's after-hours number (it was 7AM on a Sunday), got in touch with him and relayed the situation, and then the nurses literally went to the pharmacy for me to pick up my new meds - twice! I ended up having to stay 2 extra days because of this unexpected pain, and Pearl accommodated the schedule change immediately with zero issue. They were also on top of covering potential side-effects from my medication, all without me having to ask. I am truly so thankful to the women at Pearl. I loved them, and will 100% be going back if I have any future procedures done. They really are the best. Owner is rude, non qualified staff, and absolutely dangerous to stay for recovery after surgery. I bet my life they will get shut down due to negligence sooner or later after a major catastrophic event. My stay at Pearl Recovery was wonderful. I stayed after having surgery with one of the top plastic surgeons in Los Angeles. I received around the clock nursing care and also special accommodations with my hyperbaric and spa treatments. All the nurses were knowledgeable and accommodating. I felt like the first few days the pain was hard to get managed but with their knowledge they were able to get quick medication orders. After the pain passed I was able to enjoy more of my time at the fairmont hotel. I was able to have lunch near their infinity pool under the shade with my husband. Pearl Wellness Center let us begin. After having a redo for back surgery in a very groggy mood, I was greeted by one of the staff members, then we were met by another staff member at the door. when I approached the brand-new apartment complex, not even fifty percent occupied. The staff was very friendly and took my bags. Walked me into the location, Where they had ownership of seven fully furnished Units They walked me into a two-bedroom apartment very spacious, All the furniture and decor were very nice. Immediately, I started to ask the dos and don'ts. Can I have company? "yes" Can I have overnight? "Yes" The kitchen was brand new almost untouched. I asked them, can we prepare a meal? "Yes". The first night the staff checked on a lot. But on the third morning, the owner walked into my room and introduced herself. I had my door open and she told me. I could not keep my door open. Connect it to the common living room area because of privacy for other patients. (I met the other patient and she was at surgery and hadn't returned as of yet. So I was in a unit alone, besides my family member) This struck a nerve. She also told me that My mother was unable to prepare a meal for me in the kitchen. When her staff had already told me that she could. We went back and forth and we compromised, She told me that my mother could prepare the meal in the staff kitchen. Then twenty minutes later, she sent Staff back and said we could not prepare the meal. I told her staff to tell the owner if we could not prepare a meal like she promised. I am checking out now. The owner came back in and said she apologized, for telling me that we could prepare the meal in the kitchen. "But the staff member said was allergic to the smell of fried chicken" This owner was a 70-year-old, Mid-eastern, woman. That couldn't come up with any other excuse for us. Not using the facilities, that we were promised to be able to use but the smell of fried chicken, how racist. how disrespectful. how uncomfortable we feel. How embarrassed I was. After that comment, we immediately packed up and left the facility. in pain with a draining tube and everything. We were out. (My 77-year-old mother brother and sister drove forty minutes to prepare a meal and be with their family member, and we had to leave) If you wanna spin almost $3000 a night and get treated like crap, visit one of their locations. read more

I normally don't write reviews. However, I had to have a major septorhinoplasty recently and I had to travel in from out of town. My doctor suggested Pearl Recovery Center post-op. Boy am I glad he did! My surgery was particularly complicated due to a lot of calcified bone, and cartilage fractures, and I was really out of it post-op (as you can imagine). Pearl took care of EVERYTHING from the second I woke up, Donovan picked up me and got me to a posh hotel room at the Viceroy. There Jessica and Alisa took turns icing me around clock and tracking all my medications. Honestly, I don't know how I would have made it through without their care and consideration. I don't have the time to write something as lengthy as E.B. did, but I wholeheartedly agree with everything said in the review. Theresa the daytime "nurse" should not be working in a healthcare facility. She has such a horrible attitude and must not be happy doing this kind of work. She does not want to go above and beyond nor does she seem to want to take care of people at the basic level. My 75 year old mom was looking forward to being taken care of after back surgery, but unfortunately because of Theresa's bad attitude, the recovery process was not a soothing or enjoyable one. Theresa even called ME to tell me how upset my mom was, as if I could do anything about it. She just made me feel even worse about my mom's surgery. Things could have been much more pleasant with a kind nurse. I asked Theresa to have the manager Grace call me, and of course that never happened. I wanted my mom to stay through Mother's Day, but they said she would have to hire a private 24 hour nurse because no one would be working that day. Just awful. For $1600 per night this place should be ashamed. My mom could not be happier to be out of Pearl Recovery Center. She should have gone to Serenity, where she had much better care. I cannot even begin to explain the perfection that is Pearl. I had a major surgery yesterday and was transported in an ambulance to what was a wellness facility I couldn't even dream up. There were two nurses there to great me Ruby and Yana. They took me right to my room and tucked me in I didn't have to worry about a thing for the entire time I was there. Yana was so great about explaining everything to me from the IVs to the catheter to the pain meds I was taking I felt very at ease. I was never in pain and when I was nauseous she took care of it right away. You text them when you need anything and they're at your room within minutes. They took care of things I could never even dream of and trust me I've stayed in super nice hotels all over the world, I'm high maintenance and picky. Claudia took over the night shift checking on me frequently. She was so sweet and thoughtful. I'm usually a jumpy person but she would gently wake me if I needed to take meds and she would bring me ice chips/ ginger ale/ water and would hold the cup up for me to drink. Grace took over the next day with Ruby dropping off extra things like almond milk and checking on me. Ruby was impressed by my progress and it was very encouraging. Grace took care of me that day. She was so attentive. We figured out the medicine I was taking wasn't working and she got my doctor on the phone immediately and figured out a better option. I was in shock at how she made that happen. I've never felt such great care (besides my parents hehe) from anyone in my life! I am honestly in shock at how amazing the whole experience was. I honestly did not want to leave. I was picked up from surgical office, by the driver and nurse and we came right to the recovery center. The nurse took me to my room on a wheel chair. The accommodations were just perfect: comfortable, discrete, beautiful, relaxing. First of all I want to thank all nurses that took such a great care of me: Theresa, Aprille and Nikki. I live in San Francisco but decided to have surgery down in Beverly Hills. When I started planning I was a little nervous about recovering in a hotel or somewhere that wasn't my home. When I told my surgeon this, he quickly recommended I go to Pearl Recovery Retreat. He told me that Pearl has a wonderful team of nurses that provide 24-hour care so that no matter what I may need they would take care of it for me. Upon his recommendation, I reserved a week of recovery at Pearl. This was seriously the best decision I could have made! I had never had surgery before, so being in pain the first 48 hours was really scary and uncomfortable for me. But the nurses did everything to make me comfortable and calm down. Grace especially is such a sweetheart. Staying at Pearl was also fantastic because they picked me up from surgery and took me to my post-op appointments so I didn't have to worry about that at all. I also loved the hyperbaric oxygen chamber that they have! I spent a couple of hours in there over the week I was at Pearl and I really think it made me feel better faster! There are not enough kind things I can say about the Pearl team - they are truly amazing. This place provides no safety for those who are recovering from procedures. The rooms are in one of the floors of a prestigious hotel in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, drunk customers from the hotel walk around the hallways, which creates an unpleasant atmosphere since you can hear intoxicated hotels guests at different times during the night. On top of that, the nurses do not like to lock the rooms because it makes it difficult for them to get in an out of your room. Therefore, complete strangers can walk into your room at any time. Although the nurses are kind and knowledgeable, the place is completely mismanaged. It does not have enough staff to take care of clients at night. You may call them from your room, but they don't answer the telephone since there not enough nurses available. To top it all, it's expensive! read more

Pearl Recovery makes the recovery process so enjoyable that you'll be thinking about the next time you get to experience the hospitality here. I guess it's not the cheapest place to stay at. But where else are you going to go to recover after your surgery? One person wrote earlier to book a room at the Four Seasons Hotel and hire your own personal nurse. Ha ha ha. That's pretty funny. That person must be pretty dumb. Why try to re-invent the wheel? Nurses don't make $10 per hour and a room at the Four Seasons is expensive. Pearl Recovery has it all set up for a peaceful and stress-free place to recover. If you are going to spend all that money on elective surgery, do yourself a huge favor and book a night or two here. You'll be more than happy you did. Yes, there is a charge for valet parking. You're in Beverly Hills. Gratuities are optional but the nurses do take very good care of you. You should indeed tip for good service. At no point in time will u feel deserted. It's a discreet entrance. One person's review complained about the way they entered the facility. Did they want to enter through the front door and through the hotel lobby wrapped in bandages for everyone to see? Ridiculous. If you're going to do elective surgery, you're going to want to strongly consider staying here for a night or two after surgery. The staff is friendly and courteous. They are familiar with how you will be feeling after your surgical procedure. I guess you could just go home after your plastic surgery, but I'm pretty sure your family members, although they may be caring, will likely not be able to care for you properly after your procedure. It's not the cheapest place to stay at for after surgery care. But I know of no other place around Beverly Hills anyways. It is located in Beverly Hills. How much did u think it was going to cost? It's not that outrageous if u put into perspective how much u likely spent on the surgery. It's a nice and quiet place to relax after surgery. Maybe a waste of money, but if you're going to spend money on surgery, at least treat yourself to come quiet time so u can recover properly. I would consider it treating yourself properly. You're worth the attention. I see prior reviews have stated to book at the Four Seasons and then hire a personal nurse for $300 for the night. Good luck with that. Go ahead and try to do that yourself and see what happens. Just do yourself a favor and call and book at least the night of your surgery. They don't force you to stay for longer periods. But you're going to love the pampering and the service and you're going to want to stay the second or third night too. Ha ha. read more

PROS: Great care, very attentive, good food, private, classy transport, discrete, quiet CONS: Pricey parking ($40/day for valet), pricey extras like the drainage pads to protect the bed linens ($6/per and I needed 5). Prescription fills (my pain and antibiotics were free with my insurance but about $20 for Pearl to fill them for me.) 20% tip is optional, but they add it into your final bill, unlike restaurants who list optional tip amounts for 10%, 15%, 20%, but don't include it. RECOMMEND: Bring the drainage pads that your doctor gives you to avoid that charge. You only need your pain meds the first day so if you can fill them in advance, do so and bring them with you. The first time I stayed, they didn't include an optional tip, but they did the second time i stayed. I was annoyed and mentioned it since it seemed a bit slick, but I paid it (begrudgingly). I didn't like the way they added it into my total charge, albeit optional. I also didn't like the presumption of 20% given how expensive it is to stay there (at least for some people like me who already paid a lot for an elective procedure). In hindsight, if I wasn't on meds, I would not have signed off on a 20% tip for 1 day, but would have left $25-30 for the nurses to get coffee/donuts (I did this on my first stay) and $5-10 for housecleaning. Be very careful to review your bill before signing it, especially since you'll be under the influence of meds. All in all,- great stay! read more

No one has mentioned this before - this place is run by Russians, everyone speaks Russian (as well as English), the service has the Russian flair to it as well. Just an FYI. I stayed as Pearl last week for a one night post-op (after a tummy tuck and a lipo). I was super excited because it was part of SLS and was expecting a 6 star treatment throughout. Here are my pro's and con's: Pearl was picking me up from the Spalding surgery center 15 min away. I woke up after my surgery in pain. The Spalding center was holding off with the pain medication injection since Pearl was picking me up and I was supposed to get one at Pearl right way. Pearl was saying that they would be over any minute. At the end, they were 1 1/2 hours late. I tell you, waking up after a surgery and not being able to get pain medication for 2 hours is not something you'd call a 6 star treatment. I was picked up in a Porshe Panamera, a 4-door sedan. I guess, that was the sign of the Russian flair. Impressive, but by that time I couldn't care less about my mode of transportation, I just wanted to get in to a bed. Then there was the advertised "private entrance to SLS" which turned out to be the service entrance, complete with the service elevator, bins with dirty laundry and hotel employees. In all due respect, I would have preferred the SLS regular guest entrance. When I got to my room and started to take my hospital gown off, my incision started to bleed, with streams of blood going down my leg. I was standing in the middle of the room on the crouched position (because of my surgery) and the nurse was just standing there looking at me. I grabbed some Kleenex from the box next to the bed to wipe out the blood and told the nurse to help me get in to bed. She did not know how to do it! I had to instruct her on how to give me proper support. So I finally got in bed and realized that my abdominal binder was misaligned. I asked the nurse to fix it. She said that, under my doctor's orders, they were not allowed to touch my abdominal binder. I had to insist for them to call my doctor several times, before they finally did, and my binder was fixed. Then I asked for water (I haven't had any since 8 hours before my surgery,). It took them 20 minutes to bring it! The room was one of the regular SLS rooms, outfitted with an adjustable foam bed (the best part of the experience), but there was little thought given to the fact that guests in this room would be "handicapped". The electronic clock was on the bottom of the opposite night stand, completely invisible to anyone in bed. I asked for it to be relocated so I could see it, and the nurse put it on the bed next to me, as well as the telephone, controls for the bed, the TV remote, my iPhone, and my purse. So at the end, I had this pile of electronics and other things next to me on the bed that I had to sift through if I needed to find something. So, at that time, I almost checked out. For $875 a night, you should be getting a much better service. But I couldn't do it because I was so exhausted. My nurse changed for the night shift and she is the reason Pearl got 2 stars at all. Miriam was excellent. She did everything right, checked up on me every so often, refilled my water glass even before I would call for it. I have to say though, I was driven back to my doctors office in a different Porshe Panamera. Or, the food - it was a solid 3 star. I had a gazpacho soup for dinner which was so sour, it was inedible (the two bread rolls that came with it were good though), and for breakfast the next day, I ordered pretty much everything on the menu - the omelet (cold, plain, but ok), croissants (cold, but ok) and yogurt (it turned out to be a jello yogurt). Having dined at the SLS and the Bazaar multiple times before, I could hardly believe it came from the same kitchen. So at the end, I feel ripped off paying $875 for the experience that was not up to my expectations. I've had better experiences staying at a regular hospital and eating hospital food (at least nurses there knew what they were doing). if there is a next time, I am definitely staying at another recovery center. read more

I had the honor to stay at the SLS Hotel/Pearl Recovery Retreat.  On January 30, 2014, I had the Gastric Sleeve Procedure.  My doctor was Dr. Paya.  I was an outpatient and needed to have one night care by caring, concerned and medically licensed professionals. Not only did I receive this care, upon my arrival, I was welcomed by Karina, Irina and Marina.  I didn't say my name and they already knew who and why I was there.  Very impressive!!!!  I was treated like royalty...I am not sure who got me set up in the most comfortable and inviting bed, as I was pretty much still feeling the after effects of the medication I was on. This said, these ladies took phenomenal care of me.  They were concerned and wanted me to get some rest...but, most importantly if I needed anything they were there for me.   I was checked on many times throughout the night.  However, during the times I was checked on, I didn't even notice they were there.  Doors were not slammed, when I was spoken to, it was soft and quietly.   Everyone took such great care of me.  When the night shift changed, I then had Olga, she had the same demeanor as the other nurses. I had such a great experience at Pearl! I stayed one night and wouldn't have minded staying more nights. Grace (patient coordinator) + nurses Jessica, Mariam, Lucy, and Theresa were so amazing and patient/accommodating. I also had IV therapy done + this leg compressor machine was on throughout the night and loveddd that. Definitely recommend adding that machine on. HORRIBLE SERVICE-RUDE OWNER! My mother stayed here for 1 miserable night. She was admitted after her surgery and was in a lot of pain. Her nurse not only did NOT give her her legally prescribed pain meds in a timely manner but she rarely checked on her. Mind you, this was the same day as her surgery. There was a stretch of 4 hours when the nurse did not check on her at all even though she was instructed to do so and my mom was in great pain. Yes, the place is fancy looking but the staff from the nurse to the outrageous and hostile owner are horrible. I'm all about paying for good service but paying the exorbitant amount we paid, we expected a lot better. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. There is so many other great options. We ended up taking her out of this place and took her to SERENITY in Santa Monica which was a world of difference. read more

Here's the thing, this is Aplus facility BECAUSE of the nurses. I stayed for 4 days then extended the room without nurses care for another 2 nights. I get that its beverly hills, BUT some of the nurses come off fake.... THE best nurses we had and ask for them if you want to always smile and be well taken care of are : GRACE AND MARISOL! They made my expensive recovery worth every dollar... Food- mehhhh-- menu needs to change daily... found plastic chips in my sorbet .. but this is SLS hotels fault not pearl.... I DID NOT like how at the end of my nurses stay and when i moved into the nights with out nurses care, but still stayed in pearl recovery how the nurse "marinna" came in and removed everything of "pearls" stuff... including a table that went over my bed that still had my food on it... I mean i was still staying paying for a pearl room just not with nurses care.... I am Eastern European and know a big community in Canada and will definitly recommend the facility to interested women and will highly recommend GRACE AND MARISOL.. these nurses never made me feel judged even when i was standing naked lol and took amazing care of me and came off genuine... thank you read more

Amazing stay at that luxurious recovery facility. Was taken great care by knowledgable and attentive nursing staff. Transportation by luxury cars to and from doctor's office as well as great food , it was all nice touches I was surprised to experience . My doctor recommended i stay at Pearl after my surgeries and I'm glad i did. All my nurses were so great to me and made me feel so comfortable- Thank you Grace, Marina, Theresa!! I initially booked for 3 days, but ended up extending to 4. I was picked up after my surgery and taken to my appointment for the followup which was very convenient since my family was at work during the day.The bed was very comfortable and i adjusted it to the way i wanted. I requested extra pillows on the first day and the nurses made sure i always had lots of them. The food they brought was very delicious too- but what else would you expect from Jose Andres kitchen. My favorite was the delicious yogurt they gave me for breakfast. Lastly, i took advantage of the hyperbaric therapy they offered. I didn't know much about it except that oxygen is supposed to help with the healing process. My doctor mentioned it might be something i should look into to help me recover. I actually ended up coming back just to do the hyperbaric after checking out of Pearl because i felt like it helped me control my inflammation. At the end, they gave me my bill with a suggested gratuity of 20%. I believe that the staff is completely deserving of this after taking such great care of me. Believe me i know I'm not the easiest person to deal with. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the Pearl Recovery Center for 2 nights after my surgery and it was absolutely amazing. The accommodations are fantastic and very private discrete, which was what I was looking for! I was picked up directly from the surgical center and brought to the Pearl Center, the nurse was waiting for me when I arrived with a wheelchair chair and whisked me to my private room to rest. The staff of nurses are simply amazing, I wanted to thank Marina, Theresa, Fee, Grace, and Aprille! They all went above and beyond to help me recovery. I came all the way from NJ to have a very specific surgery by a doctor in California and being so far from home was difficult but the staff here made it's really nice for me. My husband came to visit me but he was welcomed to stay if he wanted too! They provide you with round the clock care and it is especially wonderful right after your procedure because the nurses watched for everything. I couldn't possibly have cared for myself on my own! They provided me with 3 delicious meals each day that I choose from a menu. They also drove me back and forth to my follow-up doctor appointments while I was staying with them! This place adds a personal touch, the owners is fantastic and very on top of things! She went above and beyond... they even let me come back for the next few days to check my incisions and help me to clean them because my husband was worried! They are really a top notch team! Highly recommended! Also, check out the Ciel Spa and use the hyperbaric chamber treatment after surgery it really speeds up recovery time! The spa staff there are amazing too! Alex washed and blew out my hair when I had the stitches in, he was so delicate and gentle! My hair looked amazing! read more

I actually really enjoyed my stay here. I was SUPER hesitant due to the negative reviews. My previous surgery I stayed at another facility which was amazing. This time that place was booked. I called another facility and she was closed due to remodeling. I was distraught. Pearl was at the VERY bottom of my list. Unfortunately at the time I thought this was my only option so I booked my stay. Not too mention it's the most expensive. Well I am so happy that I gave them a chance. My room was lovely, the bed super comfortable. The staff and nurses truly was amazing. I can't remember anything about the food unfortunately, I would assume it was delicious but honestly I was too out of it and I simply can't recall eating lol. I would recommend Pearl recovery and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks! read more
