I highly recommend you go elsewhere. These people are unethical, unresponsive and will cheat you out of money. My husband had some work done on his teeth and was told his insurance would 100% cover the work. Insurance covered nothing, and we were sent a bill. I called several times to discuss this with billing, and I sent approximately 5 emails to the billing email provided to me. None of the calls or emails were returned. I ultimately paid the bill to avoid going to collections, but I paid it under protest. Also, the dentist who did the work tries to upsell and has a poor bedside manner. You won't be happy if you go here. I advise you stay away. read more

I am reviewing my dental implant done by Dr. Sanati in the SLO Cali Dental office. I will give her 100 stars if I could! Right from the start, she made me feel at ease super friendly, but comforting . Explained professionally but friendly the whole procedure Also, what an implant was , what it's made From , gave us an education to understand what would happen. Any questions I or my husband had she would stop and listen patiently! She would even sit down And listen to us and our concerns. I have never in my life had a Dentist as kind and calming. Her manner is so comforting if you have trouble going to the dentist and feel nervous, she would calm you immediately. I highly recommend Dr. Sanati afraid to go to the Dentist. As regards to the procedure, every step through my dental implant was done amazingly! Professionally done I love my new tooth implant!! Was finished within about 3-5 months. I've now been there three times, and the only reason I'm even bothering with a review is because after my appointment today, I received an email with the following: "We really enjoyed seeing you and hope you want to leave us a positive review. However, if you are not completely satisfied, we ask that you will contact us directly to make things right for you." You know they know they're bad when they have to put that in the email! My first appointment - I had just moved to town and was looking for a dentist, and I tried this office as it was the closest one to my house. I chose an 8am appointment, thinking that the first appointment of the day meant a very low chance of being delayed. NOPE. I waited for 45 minutes while other patients were called back (some who had arrived after I did), so I went to the desk to ask if I would be seen soon, and they estimated another 45 minutes because they didn't have enough chairs back there. Translation: they overbooked their appointments in an effort to make the most money. I told them I had other things I needed to do and couldn't wait that long. The receptionist responded with "ok" and didn't offer up any sort of apology or offer to reschedule my appointment. My second appointment - against my better judgement, I decided to give this place one more shot, as I was due for a cleaning and had slacked on finding another dentist to see. This time I got in quickly, but then waited in the dentist chair for about 30 minutes before my cleaning actually started. The dentist was incredibly nice, but I left the office feeling like my mouth had been scrubbed with steel wool. I vowed to find another dentist for my next cleaning. My third appointment - this one was an emergency, I had a chip in my tooth that needed to be sealed ASAP, so I called yesterday evening and they told me they could see me first thing today (although the receptionist I spoke with, though very kind, kept making all kinds of clerical mistakes that didn't instill a lot of confidence in me). I went in this morning, another 8am appointment, and while I was called back right away, I sat in the chair for 35 minutes before one of the staff told me the dentist had JUST ARRIVED in the office and would be with me shortly. I responded with "seriously? He just got here? Why would they schedule me so early if he's not even here?" And the response I got from the woman was ............ literally nothing. After seeing a couple other patients (again, one who had arrived well after I did), he finally saw me and was able to fix up my tooth. While he worked quickly, he did manage to splash water all over my face and my neck, which leads me to think his technique needs work. Overall, I find this place very disappointing and horribly run. It's like a Greyhound bus - they'll overbook the seats and won't care if you have to get bumped to the next ride. It'll get you where you need to go eventually, but it will be unpleasant. read more

How are you even in business with these knuckleheads running your desk? 10/25/22 I had been rescheduled FOUR times between Friday And Tuesday. I drive 50 minutes south, taking time from my job to get to my appointment. Tried to call them on heavy traffic and of-course they don't ever answer the phone but I saw the Hispanic brunette with the bun next to the blonde answer her personal cell phone on the job at 12:10pm on 10/25. So they try to turn me away saying I was "late" but then suddenly "we will fit you in." Okay cool. So, I wait 30 minutes before they tell me wait, no. We scheduled you an incorrect appointment. You were scheduled incorrectly by the front office manager a few weeks back. We can't see you after all today. Back an hour north that cost me time from my job. Because people don't do theirs, apparently. Covid is over, what's the deal? Why do your employees have their cell phones at the desk but they can't answer the business line? The Laziness is repairable but I would say with potentially a better manager. The employees are failing. They are inaccurate. Costing customers time. Unapologetic. Don't pick up the phone. Don't schedule properly. Just a very lazy energy about this place. We are can't recommend and we won't return. read more

Unlike my previous extractions, I felt the entire procedure. Having had at least three other extractions without incident, I was surprised by the level of discomfort. Unfortunately, the staff responded poorly to my distress, making me feel like I was the one at fault for being upset. That's not right!! It felt very draconian to say the least. Absolutely, the worst dental office. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Unprofessional, they are constantly training new people. Feels more like a place people go where they are learning how to be dental assistants than an actual dentistry. I had an abscessed tooth, and they did nothing about it. I kept calling, left a voicemail, then I couldn't even do that because their voicemail was full. I'm convinced the fillings they gave me made the problems worse. I have very mixed feelings about this dentist office. The professionals there were kind and accommodating enough, and it was clean and well-equipped. I was a bit put off with the Netflix cartoons on the television in my cubicle--I didn't want to be distracted by another screen. The dentist made it abundantly clear how numb I would be to the pain during a deep cleaning. I have never had a deep cleaning at the dentist, and I don't think I want to again--I think I'll just take care of my teeth! On a scale of 1 to 10 the numbness was at a 10. The deep injections into the mucous membranes at the back of the mouth did not hurt because of localized topical anesthetic. After the deep injections, the dentist injected several times into the alveolar processes under the teeth. My opinion is that way too much anesthetic was used--I felt incapacitated and my facial muscles were limp. I could hardly swallow and the water fluids during the cleaning were hard to manage with impaired glossopharyngeal muscles (tongue and throat). Next time, I am willing to take a little pain to avoid the days-long swelling and inflammation that occurred. I felt off for several days. This is not all bad; some people may appreciate feeling nothing. Where this appointment went south was during the cleaning. Halfway through I went to the bathroom and looked at my mouth. Of course it will be bleeding during an operation like this--I didn't realize why it was bleeding so profusely: The dentist took a chunk out of my lower gum the size of a dry red lentil (a small bean), and didn't tell me. He was not being gentle; I believe he was overconfident and desensitized to what he was doing, because he knew how numb I would be--he simply wasn't that careful because I wouldn't feel anything anyway. I didn't notice until I investigated a sensitivity there. I'm hoping the gum tissue will grow back. I am really debating going back here. I have MediCal and so have limited options, but in 4 months I will qualify for employer insurance which will allow me to go anywhere. I think I might wait and do the remaining fillings then, rather than go through another experience like the one above. read more

My best friend went to CaliDental for some much needed oral care. He was so impressed with his dentist, I decided to try them as I was having issues of my own. Granted, this is a larger building with lots of space and exam rooms. This can be different from your quaint dentist office with one or two exam rooms. CaliDental has even included a kids climbing structure in the waiting room! Filling out forms are all done digital pads, it makes the process an easy and effective way to get the information correctly. I waited just a few minutes past my appointment time, that's another thing, they are very flexible when it comes to emergencies and special cases, they'll totally work with you. It does feel a little wide open when you head to your examination room. The rooms are clean and they have big televisions with remote so you can watch, while they work. I brought earbuds and was super comfortable. My dentist, Dr Sanati introduced herself and asked how she could help. I went through my list of concerns and she asked to take a look. Mind you, 6 months ago I spent $2700 on a root canal and crown at a very fancy luxurious dentist in SLO. Dr. Sanati in a polite, yet concerned way, pointed out a problem that has "obviously" been there for some time. My previous dentist did not go into the depth that Dr. Sanati did on this visit. I was thankful, surprised and concerned to get the issue fixed. We discussed options and what she felt should be my next steps. I instantly trust this doctor, just on her' bedside manners alone. An office manager comes to talk payment and course of action. I braced myself for the sticker shock, but to my surprise it was going to cost close to 1/2 of what I was going to be charged by my previous dentist. *Two Weeks Later* I return for another root canal and crown, same exact procedure as 6 months prior. Here's where this dentist and this practice won me over. I'm a tall guy, I didn't quite fit in my exam chair. They found me a small pillow and provided Sun glasses for the bright exam lights. Dr. Sanati was genuinely happy to see me and it was really nice to see her smile. On my first exam she mentioned my dental issues might be caused by something, I checked into her prediction with my primary care doctor and he confirmed the dentist really caught something " significant." Mind you, 6 months ago at ultra fancy dentist, not a word. I lay there for my procedure and I'm the guy that HATES THE DENTIST, however, not only did I not feel the injections, but the entire procedure went so smoothly I could have nodded off. Peaceful-Relaxed-Excellent Care. To my surprise, I pay and am informed I get 10% off! Such a bargain this place. I'm home now a week and I did not have an ounce of pain during or after my procedure. My hygienist was wildly unprofessional and inappropriate, the doctor was so aggressive on my gums I had to end the cleaning early (they bled for 20 min) AND the exam was a total sham. Calidental is a joke for a dentist! Do yourself a favor and don't spend your time and money going there. It is the worst doctors office I have ever experienced. The dentists are rough, have no bedside manners, and provide extremely poor care. I had 4 fillings. The doctor shoved the shots into my mouth without warning and I asked him to let me know after the first shot and he continued to do the same for the other shots. I am accustomed to the dentist talking to you through your experience. Also when applying the shots shaking the cheek while injecting the shot so it's not as painful. I decided to give them another try (unfortunately for me) with another dentist at the same office. The second dentist I saw for a deep cleaning for all four quads only spent 20 minutes and you go out of there without your teeth truly being cleaned. A deep cleaning for four quads should take at LEAST 1 hour. In addition to this bad experience they try and gouge you financially by not pre authorizing your dentist care before your visit. They make up there own charges to maximize what you have to pay. They try and tell you that you are supposed to pay the entire bill when I have an excellent dental care plan that covers almost everything at 80 percent or more pay by my insurance (Delta Dental PPO). You end up uncomfortably debating this at every visit. They do not send anything to insurance ahead of time after asking for that prior to each visit. I filed a grievance with my delta dental PPO asking them to drop them as a provider. Believe me when I say you will be extremely disappointed, out money for poor care and a lot more money then a traditionally quality dentist office that we all deserve. Most importantly we only have one set of teeth and this dentist office will destroy them. If I could give them a 0 out of 5 I would. read more

I made my first appointment for my mother. Show up and the medical release confused her dr. Medications that were to be used for the dental procedure were not listed for the dr. To approve. Just a long unnecessary delay. The staff made it out to be my fault for everything, it was not my job to make this clear to her dr. We got past it finally. We had to come back the next day..... scheduled at 10:30 am and fifteen minutes early we waited for one hour. They need one more dentist! Or a different system. Went into this office with no pain, no noticeable decay or cavities. I was told I had 6 cavities, so we made an appointment to get them filled. Despite clearly expressing that I gave TMJ, they opted to fill 3 cavities in one sitting. 2 months later, my jaw is out of alignment, I have debilitating headaches, and my teeth hurt from the fillings! Dentist ignored my complaints, and signals he told me to give if pain was overwhelming. He applied too much topical numbing so it leaked all over my throat and face even tho I didn't swallow, and then jabbed the needle into my gums without making sure it was numb- and injected it too fast causing severe inflammation and pain for hours. I was unable to close my lips or mouth, and he doubted that then continued blasting water in my mouth until I had to stop him and choke it all up onto myself After spending hundreds of hours in dentist chairs, no dentist has ever accused me of being dramatic or lying before this one. I'll start this with coming from a healthcare worker myself. This is not how patients should be treated. Cali Dental in SLO does not live up to its philosophy to any extent. Since October of last year 2023 I have been going to this office have had multiple work done to my teeth. Recently, in the past 5 months. I've called several occasions to address dental concerns that had not been followed up on that needed attention. All I have got is the run around and two - three of those calls I spoke with someone who was so incompetent and couldn't answer a single question. I'm now at a point where my bridge has completely fell out which was in my front teeth (6,7,8). So I'm without any teeth there! A nerve is exposed I called they told me they can't do anything until they get authorization. But, authorization for what cause nothing has been submitted. I've called my insurance to which they say nothing has been sent to them for request for authorization except for tooth #18 which was denied. The insurance informed me to have the dental office reach out. I relayed that message to Deana(front desk) and she in return let the office manager know. Who responded with I did the authorization that's all I'm doing. I've followed up every day with insurance to which nothing still has been submitted. Now here we are day 6 with missing 3 teeth, severe pain from exposed teeth that were under the bridge, exposed nerve, unable to eat anything but mashed foods or liquids. This office has completely failed me, has broke me down to the core for being non- ethical or trying to help in this situation it's embarrassing working in medical practice talking to patients all day. Of course I wear a mask but my speech is now affected severely and me not being able to eat. I demand that someone take accountability and address this immediately. Patient care is not in their best interest. It's not fair to me as a patient to have to suffer in pain this isn't about cosmetics it's medically necessary so that I can have function of my mouth to be able to eat, speak correctly. read more

Cali dental sucks. They did a deep cleaning of my entire mouth within 15 minutes. The entire mouth. The upper back tooth I told him I had probably with and had been infected and was still infected after taking antibiotics before seeing him .and the tooth was also loose. I was unable to chew on that side. He said it was because of gum disease. Well 3 months later still has an infection. He had told me there was bone loss in that area and if I just wiggle the tooth with my tongue and just play with it , it will fall out on its own. The front bottom tooth was filled but said it was pretty deep and he may have to end up pulling. The refill on an upper back tooth which should have been pulled was refilled . Now 3 months later that back tooth broke in half and I now have a stabbing pain when I eat. My loose tooth that has an infection, well it's still there and still infected.. I have a slight fear of the whole dental thing , I am not going to pull out my own infected tooth. What the hell. My gum disease is still going strong and doesn't feel clean.
