Let me start off by saying that 3 yrs ago I had California closets build my closet space and the did and excellent job, which is why I went back to them. 5 star job. Also MISTY the sales representative is amazing. Although, fast forward 3 yrs later the service quality is horrendous. I hired them to install a Murphy bed, cabinet space, and closet doors. (Over $12,000) They messed up on every single thing. (Examples: big bold letters on top of paperwork. "Do not cut moldings", first thing they do is cut moldings, put together wrong and forgot steps. Had to have someone come out to fix). They also forgot steps in putting together the cabinetry. I understand people make mistakes. But pieces were left at shop and guys had to go back multiple times throughout the build process, and forgetting to fully finish the work accordingly is unacceptable. This company is supposed to be 5 star service. This was definitely not 5 start service that you pay for. Now down to the doors, I never had them done bc they quoted me a price, (with a rendering) and was signed and agreed on. California closets came to me after the quote (about a month down the road) and told me that THEIR vendor they normally used back out of the build. (Which is not the customers fault) and came to me and said that I would have to pay another 4K dollars bc they had to go find another vendor. I argued the fact bc that wasn't my issue that THEIR vendor backed out. They proceeded to tell me that is was a customers problem not California Closets. That is quoted from the director of sales for California closets. I would not recommend using this company now they are a joke and they don't provide the 5 star, white glove services that they proceed to offer. read more

My wife and I have been loyal customers of California Closets of the Texas Hill Country in San Antonio since 2018, successfully completing previous projects with generally pleasant experiences. However, something has clearly gone wrong in the past few years, as this latest experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I truly wish there were a way to give them -5 stars. Before detailing what went wrong, I must highlight that Misty Rodriguez and the installers were the only positives in this whole ordeal. Misty consistently delivers outstanding work, having designed most of our projects. The installers also did their best, despite frequently dealing with broken materials upon arrival. However, the issues I'm about to discuss in no way reflect on Misty or the installers. We signed the contract in October 2022, with a project start date in January 2023. Yet, 19 months later, the project was still unfinished. Our repeated requests to speak with management, initially annoying, eventually turned into deep frustration. When we finally heard from management, only within the last week, their response was rude and condescending. The finance manager, Susan, was shockingly aggressive, especially since we hadn't received any updates from their office--verbal or written--since April/May 2024, except for their persistent requests for Google reviews. Susan even sent a very aggressive letter demanding final payment despite the project being incomplete at that particular time. Cindy, the manager, wasn't much better with her initial response. As a luxury, high-end company, one would expect better customer service, but we received anything but. We confronted them with the facts, but they shifted to a victimhood narrative, trying to deflect from their own mishandling. They even fabricated a story, claiming we denied the installer entry to finish the project earlier this year--an outright falsehood. We specifically asked that the installer come after a certain time, but he arrived too early. Why would we deny entry to someone coming to complete the project? It makes no sense, yet this was the narrative they pushed multiple times in the last week which really feels like a calculated move to justify their rude and unprofessional behavior. After calling corporate and being assured of a call from Cindy, followed by a direct email when no call came, Cindy's response was more aggressive communication and tone-deaf excuses. Again, for a high-end brand, one would expect better customer service, but it never materialized. Dealing with a company and its representatives who refuse to take accountability for their mismanagement--especially after receiving most of the payment--is beyond aggravating. We were never trying to avoid paying the remaining balance. Ultimately, we negotiated a reduced final balance just to be done with them. Despite our long history and loyalty, we were met with blatant disrespect. Given this experience, I can confidently say we will never be customers again. Your experience may vary, but I strongly advise anyone considering California Closets of the Texas Hill Country in San Antonio to seek alternatives. read more

We first read about California Closets back in July 2015 when we were building our home and we were "Googling" closet installers in the area. We asked our builder to leave the closets empty with no rods or shelves in the master to make things easier as we knew we wanted custom closets. December 2015/January 2016 when we tried to use the other closets that we realized that we needed custom closets sooner rather than later. We decided to call and consult with a few closet companies as well as California Closets to have our initial home consult. So what is the difference between California Closets and other companies? One person, Jamie Sargisson. The other closet companies choose for you, Jamie recommends and helps you choose. The others design the closet for you, Jamie designs it around you by asking you a few questions. The others offer good or great materials, California Closets offers high end UNIQUE materials. We knew Jamie was serious and was an expert in closet design when she asked us and didn't mind looking at everything we had in the other closets, shoes, and the mountains of clothes and vacuum bags lying on the floor that we just could not fit in the other closets. So far we are fans. I will update this review as soon as the closets are installed. read more

We are extremely disappointed that we contracted with this company (10/17/22). Initial steps went well, but once we contracted with them and put down our deposit we were pushed aside. First was told install date was end of January then moved to 2/2 and then pushed to 2/22. Installation team was amazing, but was not given adequate time to finish our 4 projects. Once their time is up with your project, they leave your job unfinished and California closets is not in a hurry to get you back on their waiting list to complete what they started. After asking 3 times when our job would be completed, I was finally looped in with scheduling who asked if we were available 3/20. I quickly responded to try to grab that slot and cannot get confirmation on if this is going to happen or not. I was also told (in this email by scheduling) that some items will be complete and some aren't. I have asked for a list of what will and will not be completed with no response. With the amount of money, planning, and time off we have put into these organizational projects, I cannot believe they won't come finish what we waited so long for. Very disappointing. Missing hardware, key pad locks, shelves, lighting, cabinets, drawer faces, filling cabinets, laundry hampers, cannot plug in our computer anywhere on our desk, etc... We do not feel it is ethical to start a job and move on to another without finishing what was started. I would look somewhere else. read more

Just had my master bedroom closet installed. Misty was our salesperson and was a lot of fun to work with. We got estimates from three places, and California Closets gave us the maximum storage. The price wasn't much different than the "just-like-California-Closets-but-cheaper" company, either. Unfortunately I wanted to love my new closest and laundry room done by Cal Closets, but there is nothing positive I can say about the experience. Every step had problems from design issues, measurements that didn't match and they just modified during installation and left me no choice, sloppy install work, installation of unmatching hardware, delays in some materials being available, poor communication, etc. The install lasted over 2 months and involved 6 different people coming to work on it at various points. The quality of workmanship not great and my designer clearly not experienced and too many flaws to even mention. read more
