This guy is, without a doubt, the best barber you'll find in Texas. Before Jimmy, I stuck to a bald fade with a seven on top, but after seeing him work his magic, I decided to grow my hair out. He's added layers upon layers of texture. Whether it's fades, texturizing, or coloring, he does it all. Right after my cut, I went to grab a drink, and the bartender hooked me up with a free one. That's how clean this haircut is. For reference, I'm Vietnamese with straight black hair that grows sideways instead of down--finding someone who can cut it right is tough. But Jimmy? I came across this place because my gf said, "You better get a haircut now or else!" She literally drove me to the location and sat there to make sure that I did it. Yikes! He gave me some tips and gave me two different styles because my gf didn't like the first cut. (Which was an amazing cut btw!) So he cut it again and the gf finally agreed to it. 5 stars is mighty bold. Why 5 stars you ask? Simple - best value in town. I have a very difficult nest of thick, wild, manly, untamed hair. I have seen many a stylist try and fail, and therefore when I find one that can cut it and make me look good, I stick with that stylist. I have been going to Jimmy for haircuts for about 6 or 7 years now. He has always listened and offered feed back, always been meticulous, and always takes great pride in his work. I have had short hair, long hair, medium hair, all types of cuts all under Jimmy's skilled hand. I will continue visiting these guys for my haircuts for as long as I can. It's a win win for everyone, I look and feel good, and get to support local business. I should also mention my wife with an equally difficult amount of hair also gets her hair colored and cut here and is always pleased with the results. First time at this hair salon! Yesterday must have been my lucky day because I called here during my break at work and they said Jimmy had an opening at 5:45pm. I snatched this fantastic opportunity! I've been trying out different hair salons here in Austin since I moved here about 3 years ago. Nobody does it like Jimmy! He really IS the best! They made me wait one hour and did not even have the professionalism to apologize or acknowledge their mistake. Ended up leaving. Don't bother to make a call to book an appointment ahead. I called, made an appointment, arrived on time and waited 25 minutes to get a 20-minute haircut. Punctuality: negative Service consistent: bad. First time client is always well taken care of. Jimmy spent more time on your first time, does lot of fancy moves, tells you lot of tricks for styling your hair. Second time, less time, same old hair style. Third time, 20 minutes total. Last time I was there, I wanted to change my hairstyle, told him what I wanted, ended up the exact same type before. Just don't know why the customer service goes down more when you're a repeated client?! Wonder if I didn't tip well? The haircut is about $21-$22 (I don't remember exactly), but I tip $10, so it's almost 50% of the service price. Have to think before I go there again since he didn't even bother to listen to do the style I want. read more

Great salon. Clean, comfortable, friendly. Had my first cut today by Lisa. Also took my 5 year old grandson. She was so good with him, making him comfortable during the entire haircut. The style and cut she gave me was just what I needed as I am letting the color grow off. She managed to leave a minimum of the old color without having to cut so much off I was uncomfortable. The new "do" is EXCELLENT. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere---and I have been around, changing salons often as they were never quite what I was looking for. This one is a keeper. I have been getting my hair cut by Jimmy for two years and as long as I live in Austin, I'll keep coming back. For the past couple years I have been experimenting with different hair styles and no matter what picture I show Jimmy, he always makes it happen. Not to mention he is a really cool guy to talk to. ProTip: Call and make an appointment! You can't walk in and see Jimmy, he has a large list of clients and many of us book appointments in advance. Some of his clients are from San Antonio and Houston, and they drive all the way to Austin to get their hair cut! There have been times when I was not able to get an appointment for a week, but it's okay because my hair grows out evenly and the style still looks good even when it gets a little long. I'm very satisfied with Jimmy as my barber and recommend him whenever I get a chance. read more

Went to Jimmy to get an ombré and haircut! The haircut was nice but my ombré went horribly wrong. He did try to fix it but i am still very upset about the whole situation.. I have very dark hair, and my worst fear was that it would come out tacky/brassy orange looking and my fear came true.. I spent almost $200 on something that I now have to find someone else to fix because I am not happy with the results.. Not to mention my hair is fried..
