California Fences (CA License #1099301) caused documented property damage to my private patio at 1900 Lynwood Dr Unit C in Pleasanton during a fence replacement project inside our HOA community. During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I hired California Fences, Inc. to replace two existing fences in my yard (40 foot section with a two foot retaining wall and 80 foot section). They arrived at 8:15am with two large trucks and five skilled workers and the new fences were complete by 2:30pm. It was amazing to watch the team work. They immediately began removing the old fences by using a saw to cut the fence into 8 ft sections and all 120 feet of fence was removed and stacked on their flat bed truck in about one hour. Then they began digging the holes for the new fence posts and carrying all the wood for the new fences into place. They built two beautiful gates to allow access to my neighbors with very sturdy hardware. All this and they were the low bid. I strongly recommend California Fences, Inc. Nick Chua was very responsive during the bid process. And Felix as the supervisor of the five skilled workers was great to work with. Be careful there is another company with a very similar name. We used CA Fences in 2024 and 2025. The job was done very well both times. When they came out in 2025 they noticed a post that was split from their job in 2024 and replaced it for us at no additional charge--we hadn't even noticed this before. I was grateful they were very attentive to their work, even the work done the previous year. The price was also reasonable. Due to our neighbor's finances we unfortunately paid for the entire job but the price was not as bad as we expected. All staff were very friendly. Nick was very patient and helpful and Antonio was very honest and warm, notifying us of a mis-measurement and subsequent price adjustment (our price became cheaper than when originally quoted) when I never even noticed the mis-measurement. They agreed to install a custom made metal gate in the fence they were building. The gate was put in slightly off and did not close. They came out twice and it still is slightly crooked. They basically told me that it was "almost straight" and it closes now so that is the best they will do. The gate is visibly crooked! The bid from them was also higher but I went with them since they promised they would work with me and my metal gate. I am very disappointed. It is clear that "quality" and even pride in workmanship are not high priorities. I gave them 2 stars since they cleaned up after their work really well, otherwise it would have been one.
