My hair cut here are generally good, no complaint there. HOWEVER: To walk in at 4:25 with 3 employees at the register happily chatting and be told they are close, decided to close early is BS. Courteous staff and stylist . Accepted my kiddo in as a walk-in so long as he could hold still. He is 4 and very well behaved. He didn't flinch for a second in the chair. He had hair down to his shoulders and I asked for short on the sides with bangs just above his eyebrows. The style he got was what I could have essentially done at home, plus some odd and very visible botch cuts on the side, none of which can be blamed on my son since even the stylist said he did a great job sitting still. I haven't experienced one good haircut in Yuba City and I don't think people give a damn. I didn't make a scene because I didn't want my son to be self-conscious and what was done was done. read more

OK so I've been there a few times before I see a girl name Sacaro she is amazing. I went ahead and gave a call before I went down there asked if she was there. She said yes I said I would be leaving in a few minutes. She didn't realize how far away I was half hour or so plus a few minutes it took before I left, so this other lady says she can help me. I told her go short where the arms of my sunglasses go and long on the rest. I comb it back she says clippers are scissors I said scissors I need to be able to comment back. She took off over 3 inches on the sides. And it poops out my hair does that when it's short I wear glasses so I had to take them off while she cut my hair I didn't realize how bad she screwed it up so I went home. Took a shower the next day I called them and said how bad I thought it was I said come in and they can fix it so Sicaro tried fixing it what she could. I called back to talk to the manager and they said managers not here and hung up on me when I asked when the manager would be there, so I drive down there to talk to them. I thought it was rude. They hung up on me. I get down there and the manager is there. I explain to the manager this is my third time driving down there and I already paid for a haircut plus a tip I told her I was going to have to buy a hat to hide the jacked up haircut. She said she can cut it shorter try to help out that doesn't help when what I need is longer hair so she said she'll give me some free haircut coupons to help out and I said well it's something Sushi gave me to that doesn't even cover the one I paid for and the fuel it took me driving down there three times to talk to him. I'm gonna have to pay for another four haircuts after those two before I actually get the haircut I want they literally butch both sides. The top is literally 6 inches long and they act like I'm being the one difficult they say I'm sorry this happened you . I think the first thing to do would they should buy me the baseball hat I just went and paid $40 for at tractor supply OK 32+ tax and then keep cutting it until it's actually the length that I wanted and I actually got the haircut that I paid for, I don't appreciate the manager only given me two I don't appreciate the people hanging up on me and the lady that screwed it up. I don't appreciate her attitude I do love Socorro. She is amazing. I have a few other friends that go to her also but just like the picture of the boy that looks like it had two separate haircuts. Girl with black hair and drawn on eyebrows was one of the rudest, most unprofessional people I have come across. She was super unfriendly to begin with then started checking for lice in the beghinning which is understandable but then she started to look grossed out and called over her co worker and asked extremely loud 'is this dandruff or lice' . It was dandruff and for a hairdresser how do you not know the difference. Then she started to begin to do my hair and I walked out. I needed a shampoo and straightening while visiting my bfs dad. There aren't many options in Yuba City so I just went to whichever place would take me quickly. The place itself is in a shady location (I was nervous my truck would get broken into) but when I walked in... It seemed like a regular Great Clips. Not bad. Everyone there seemed nice and they were very talkative... So it got pretty loud in there. I don't kind that :) Overall, they get the job done... It's not very spa like or the best in quality or uniqueness... But if you need a basic trim... Or just a shampoo... It's fine. :) read more

I understand during Covid people are frustrated and are having a hard time. I called California great cuts to book a eyebrow appointment and the receptionist was completely rude. I asked her if I could book an appointment and she said that they only take walk-ins then hung up on me. I have been a receptionist in the past and that is no way to treat a customer completely rude and disrespectful. I would never come here to get my eyebrows done. read more

I got my hair cut there today, I can't remember the girls name that did it but she was AMAZING! (She was a blonde there Friday morning around 9-10am.) She cut off over 2ft of my hair into a beautiful funky A line. I showed her a bunch of different hair style pictures and basically asked her to combine them all. She was able to do that and more. I thought for sure I was being way too confusing but she knew and understood exactly what I wanted. It turned out way better than I had imagined. She was really nice with awesome customer service. Awful, awful, awful experience. I was taking my son here for about 8 months and he kept getting different stylist. He had a pompadour hair style with a hard part. Every time we would go, different stylists would tell me his hard part was previously placed in the wrong spot and needed to be "here" or "there" instead. The LAST time we went, we got a stylist who I'm almost positive was new (like fresh out of school). I had never seen here there before. She consulted with me on the cut and proceeded. It was taking a really long time I thought to myself. The stylist next to her had managed to cut two other heads of hair, and was starting on her third while this woman was still cutting my sons hair. I knew something was not right when the woman cutting my sons hair had the stylist next to her come and consult the job she was doing. It looked like they were possibly discussing how to fix things, and sure enough, after asking my son what was being said, he confirmed that they were discussing that she placed the part in the completely wrong spot. This lady literally butchered his hair and put the hard part an inch from the middle of his head (not exaggerating). She also made the part extremely thick, and uneven, so the line was VERY prominent. Totally cut off all of his length on top leading up to the part, so we couldn't even used what length he had left to hide the hideous part she created. When asked what could be done to fix it, we were told it just had to grow now. We had no choice but to leave with this horrible hair cut. In the meantime, my son has had to walk around with a horrible haircut and it's been 3 weeks and you can STILL see the part this woman cut into his hair/scalp. Proceed very carefully here. read more

I've never been a regular at any one hair salon but that's changed since I got my hair cut at California Great Cuts. The stylist I always see is Jessica. She is a really great hair stylist who knows exactly what I want. She is also very familiar with her hair products and has recommended me really awesome products that work well for my hair type. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. I would, however, recommend making an appointment because they can get really busy. This was like the third time I went to this place. I never have gotten a good haircut here. The last time I went I had Jessica, a young perky girl. She and another stylist gossiped about and trash talked another salon. My hair cut was no where near what I wanted. So I had to let it grow out a bit. Today I went back and got I believe her name was Alicia. The shop was pretty busy. I explained in detail what I wanted. She then told me how she was going to cut it. Basically her way. I left without leaving a tip. I normally tip. But she just wanted to cut my hair her way. Now again, I have to have it re cut. So in about a week or so, Ill have to go some where else. AMY is the most rudest hair cutter I have ever met! I took my two nieces in for a hair cut and they are twins. One other lady worked on one twin and Amy worked on the other twin's hair. They have a lot of hair so I ask them to layer and thin it out. The other lady complied but Amy refuse to thin it out! She said I DON'T DO THINNING! And said if I want I can have another hair stylist cut for my niece but if she does it she won't do it. She did not talk to us the whole time we were there. Was very rude and think she's all that. My nieces and I left very mad that the hair style they have is not what they wanted. Their hair was still very thick and the hair cut didn't look good at all! Amy would not listen to what u want but does what she want to do with ur hair and does not make an effort to talk to u.
