I had no clue Yuba City had a place as luxurious as Headlines Spa! I will forever be trying to make my way back for many more massages! My husband surprised me with a spa day for our 8th wedding anniversary. We have had quite a stressful month. He said he didn't want to wait a couple weeks to surprise me with this gift and wanted me to enjoy it as soon as I could and I'm so thankful! I booked a 90 minute Swedish Massage with Paulina and added a sugar scrub. My experience started with a lovely receptionist who gave me a tour of the facility. Beautiful music and relaxed lighting throughout. They had complimentary water, tea, wine, & champagne for while you wait in a room with a very cozy couch. I was taken to my massage room immediately. Paulina was wonderful!! Very professional, kind and she went over the forms I filled out thoroughly to give me the best massage that fit my needs. I have very sensitive skin and usually masseuses hurt me easily with the pressure they apply but here at Headlines Paulina gave me the perfect massage. She didn't hurt me at all. She made me comfortable in knowing I could speak up at any moment if I needed the pressure to be changed but didn't need to. The massage bed itself was awesome. It was adjusted to contour to my shape and was heated which gave me maximum comfort. The facility was very clean. I felt safe in all aspects of letting my guard down and just breathed in the moment. After my massage I was given a complimentary MindSync Session. I sat in a room in a recliner that lifted me up and reclined and vibrated to the sound of the peaceful music I chose on a monitor. The headphones played the music and I was given a blanket and heated/weighted/ lightly scented eye mask. I was in heaven! I took that peace home with me. I feel rejuvenated and ready to continue taking care of myself. Obviously I highly recommend this Spa. Paulina, thank you so much, dear, for a wonderful day. I found my experience at Headlines as a first timer a mixed bag, to be truthful. I went to Headlines after receiving a gift certificate from a family member and, as I hadn't heard of Headlines, was curious about it. I want to start by praising the polite and attentive young ladies at the front desks at both Headlines buildings. (I went to the wrong spot--the hair salon--first instead of the spa/massage section next door). Although the massage therapist was late fetching me from the waiting room, which surprised me as I was her first customer of the morning, she did a masterful job with the tension tamer massage I had signed up for. However, I have to say I was put off by the hawking of products, first during the initial tour newcomers get of the massage area and then, inexplicably, during the massage itself. I was there to relax, after all. I understand that maybe some customers want to hear about 20% off deals, but during the massage? A sales pitch was not a welcome interruption. As I had also signed up for the hot oil scalp massage, I was looking forward to that part of my session, anticipating the blissful feel of warm oil streaming down my scalp. Unfortunately, what I received was terribly disappointing. I'll preface this by saying that every hot oil scalp massage I've ever gotten at other establishments was a glorious experience of warm oil being streamed from a pot overhead while the massage therapist gently worked the oil in. I couldn't wait to feel that wonderful stream of warm oil pour through my hair, but what I received at Headlines was a brisk rub with cold oil squeezed into my hair with a squeeze bottle. My hair was soon a rat's nest. I was confused: Maybe this was preparatory to a real hot oil scalp massage with a pot overhead? Then suddenly the therapist said she was going to check if a zero-gravity chair was free after mentioning the mind-sync experience in the Wellness Lounge and abruptly left. I wasn't sure if the massage was over as the scalp massage seemed truncated but I dressed and went to find my way to the Wellness Lounge, where I met up with the therapist. I will say the mind-sync experience was great. I was able to lean the zero-gravity chair (a recliner) back to a surprising degree, and the vibrations across the back of my shoulders and neck were sublime. Overall, reviewing my experience, I have to say that, as someone who cherishes hot oil scalp massages, I will be returning to the usual place I go. Was it worth trying out Headlines? Sure. It was a mostly pleasant experience. It's just that I need real hot oil scalp massages in my life. read more

I needed to find a place for my elderly mom to get a cut for my son & DIL upcoming baby shower so she could feel pretty. I searched for places nearby and Headlines came up with good reviews too. Took a chance & saw there was 1 opening that same afternoon. Claudia took such great care with my mom and checked with her each step of the way! She showed compassion and care and for that we will absolutely be back! Already have her next appt set up! Thank you Claudia and to the other staff they were just as great! So a few things. The facility is nice, but kind of a labyrinth. I was a little peeved about the parking situation. I remember from last time to park in the lot behind the building. But I got a confirmation email from the business telling me to "park in front of 868 or 878" because their massage facility had moved next door. Ok. So I parked in front like I'm told. I get out of the car. And look for a door. There is no 868. There is a 878. I walk half a block down and it's 858. Uhh?? Am I missing something? I go to enter 878 and it's locked with a sign saying go to 868. Ok that's nice. You told me to park out front presumably because it's easier to get to 868. I finally give up and walk all the way behind the building to find where I went in last time. Lo and behold, a door for 868. I have no idea why they said park in front. Don't. Just park in back like normal. What a pain. The other pain was that I was inspired to book because of their social media post that touted Massage Awareness Week. Booking a 90 min massage would net you a free service. I chose sugar scrub and entered the code. I paid half online. After my massage, the girl at the counter had me pay the full balance and did not take the cost of the sugar scrub off. It's fine because it was only $10 but it's still the principal of the thing. Don't have a promotion if you're not going to honor it. Had a great massage with Jorge who was very great - asked what I wanted him to focus on and worked hard on my tired old muscles! Lots of firm pressure that melted away the stress. The facility itself is clean and very calm and relaxing. A nice waiting room with comfy couches, water, reading materials, low lights and peaceful music. A nice Sunday treat. read more

I was excited to get the head spa deep therapy and relax. The front staff service was great, easy check in and really kind. Unfortunately I had to wait around 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment to start, then some issue with the water. But once the treatment started it was really great, I really enjoyed the deep massage, halo therapy, and scalp scrubs. A neck support would help it be more comfortable. Why five stars? Because the owner comped the treatment due to all the setbacks, needless to say great customer service. read more

Shelby did an excellent job, listened to my needs, colored my hair perfectly, trimmed it just right. She was very tentative to my needs, and the whole package was very affordable. I've been going to headlines for some time now & Jess is my go to girl. She's very kind and fun to chat with for hours at a time. She's helped me transition through colors and now with my length! My last appointment she really helped me to get out of my normal comfort zone and do a big chop which I've been itching for. I've never been so happy with hair cut. I feel refreshed and light just in time for the roughest part of the year. Not only is Jess great, but all of the staff I've interacted with has been so warm and welcoming. I had the most pleasant and peaceful experience at Headlines Spa yesterday. Started with a complementary 30 mins mind sync session and ended with an hour long prenatal massage geared towards my needs. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist (so sorry I missed her name but she was sweet). She welcomed me, walked around the desk and guided me to the locker room, fresh robe and slippers in hand. She proceeded to show me how to use the lockers and just spoke with such welcoming tone. She allowed me to relax in the lounge room until my mind sync session was ready and then escorted me in. I was offered a blanket, and eye mask and was shown how to use the equipment- the whole experience really set the stage. After my 30 mins pre session I was greeted by my MT Paulina and walked back to the room. Everything was nice and clean and Paulina was so helpful. She asked my needs explained her process and made me feel very comfortable for my entire session. I will definitely be back again soon. I went to Shelby for a haircut and she absolutely butchered my hair. It's been 9 months and it still looks terrible despite being more grown out- another hairstylist who gave me a trim recently was surprised and my other hairstylist said it looked like a "chemical cut" (but I had not had my hair dyed). Thankfully one of the other girls at the salon fixed it when I first got it done but still reaping the consequences of this haircut to this day. I imagine it'll take me about another year and a half for it to fully grow out. read more

This was my first ever facial and massage session ever! My best friend booked this for me as part of my bachelorette. Walking in I had absolutely zero expectations for what to expect. First of all, this place is easy to find and has a convenient parking lot. The ladies at the front desk were super nice. We were taken to a lounge where we could get some drinks. The lights were low and they had soothing music playing. It was an overall peaceful ambiance. I was brought into a dim room with peaceful music and told to change. Tori came in shortly after, she applied many products. She had such a gentle voice. I almost fell asleep hearing her talk. After the facial, I could see my face physically glowing. She was incredible. I was then brought back to the lounge while they prepped the room for my massage. Jill was my massage therapist, she was also very soft spoken and kind. She gave me a deep tissue massage for my entire body. This is the second time I almost fell asleep. She focused on the parts of my body that were extremely tense. My shoulders and lower back feel better than ever before. I didn't even realize how tight my shoulders were until I got a massage. Overall it was an incredible experience, I felt rejuvenated, peaceful, and relaxed. My only issue is that the bed in room 1 wasn't warming up. I felt quite cold. Jill even put the heat up to the highest but it was still cold. The only warm parts were the ones warmed by my body. Jill put some warming cloths/bags to keep me warm and that helped a lot. Despite that, I can definitely see myself coming back again and again because both ladies were incredible. I highly recommend Tori and Jill for a peaceful and comforting spa day! The spa itself is like something you would expect in a large city. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time there I was given a tour and explanations of all the services provided. Then I was escorted to the sitting room to wait for the massage therapist. Beverages were provided. The massage therapist was Liliana and she came and got me in the sitting room. She was friendly and very nice! My massage was 60 minutes long and I chose the therapeutic massage. Liliana focused on the areas I asked her and changed pressure when I asked. When she was done, she left the room so I could get changed. I already scheduled a follow up appointment in May! I was also given coupons to use for my next appointment (they are for now or to use at a later date but do come with expiration date). I look forward to going back in May! read more
