If you've never been pulled over before-beware because you MUST act like you have been. Officer Alvarado is very unprofessional and hot headed. He is a fairly new officer, which was noted immediately based on his behavior. Apparently if you're ever pulled over you mustn't say anything not a word just immediately comply..don't say a word-keep your mouth shut...because that will mean they will threaten to pull you out of the car, call backup (2cars) and say you're not complying even if you have multiple young children. Don't bother calling Supervisor Horta either..they've all got each other's back...Good luck! read more

Rear ended on the 10 freeway by an unlicensed driver, CHP refuses to let AAA tow my car, a service I pay for. No receipt, no exchanged info from CHP officer. But I walk to CHP with my dog from hospital on pain, just gurney away with no info, only closed on Sunday phone numbers and CHP listed non-working phone numbers. $400 to Stagecoach Tow and another one hour and 45 minute walk to pay them, and I have $100 to my name. I couldn't believe what had just happened. I tried to remain calm and figure out what city I was in and who to call ... and the officer pulled over. I believe it was God's perfect timing. I'm not sure if Beaumont is the official CHP office for the 371 & 74 heading up into Idyllwild, but I have a HUGE complaint. There are not enough officers in this area if criminals commit crimes unpunished, but I get a speeding ticket because every person with a V8 truck is riding my bummer doing 70 mph. More common than not, if you live in this area you have to drive fast or people seriously cross double yellow lines just to get past you. What really blew my mind though was that I was just told by Officer M. Bell today that ONLY 3 officers work this area. Really???? So, exactly how do 3 officers make any sort of difference considering they can't work days and evenings 24/7 and what about days off? You see, Officer M. Bell and I have met before. One day some jerk got angry that I passed him on the 371--yes, I did it legally when appropriate. Although every time I drive on the 371, I see more than one jerk, typically in a huge truck, crossing double yellow lines to get around slow drivers that NEVER use the turnouts. (WHY DON'T THEY EVER GET TICKETS?!) Anyhow, this guy tailgated me for miles and I just calmly drove until I could make a left hand turn onto the 74, when the truck cuts me off by driving directly in front of my vehicle during the turn. He then proceeds to drive about 40 mph on a 55 mph road, so once again I'm forced to legally pass at the dotted line, only this time the guy throws a full can of something at my car. He aimed for the window, but dented the door badly instead. So, I just stop and call 911. The truck turns around driving away in the other direction. I sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for CHP. I was about to leave the scene when Bell finally pulled up, but it was too late. Too late to pursue and all Bell does is give me grief for not getting the license plate of the vehicle. Well, today I get a speeding ticket on the 74. Honestly, I had other things on my mind--the flu I was getting over, a mother in the hospital, and a long drive ahead of me after I picked up my things in Idyllwild. What makes me LIVID is they can't help you when you need them, but they can turn around on that same 2 lane highway and block traffic to make a 2-point turn just to cite me for speeding. Seriously?! You'll go to all that trouble, but you have no sense of urgency during a road rage incident???? What really made me mad is it's Officer M. Bell again. The same guy that told me after a road rage incident that next time I should get the license plate number if I expect him to do anything about it. Did he look for the vehicle when it happened? No. Did he call down to another CHP officer in the area to see if there was a vehicle matching the description, since I could identify the truck and the man? No. (Because there are likely no other CHP in the area to call.) He just gave me a lecture on my sudden stop after the incident is the wrong thing to do after someone hurls an object at my car. He was useless. About as useless as the Maryland trooper that once scolded me after I got hit by a truck because he claimed I was in his blind spot. After signing for my ticket, I told him exactly what I thought of CHP and officers that can't aid you during a crime, but they can give you a speeding ticket. I find it really ironic too. Since, in over a year, I've barely seen a CHP pull anyone over on the 371 or 74. Normally, they sit by this shack on the 371 during the day while they're looking at their phones and zero CHP in evening when the driving is especially dangerous. That's the only place you see them during the week. Officer Bell isn't a bad guy, quite nice, but he made me, as the victim, feel guilty the first time we met. Now, he tells me how seriously himself and 2 other officers take monitoring this area. Well, I'm sorry, but ONLY 3 OFFICERS FOR THIS ENTIRE AREA?! The closest police department is over an hour away--confirmed by my neighbor, a Riverside County Sheriff, after my other neighbor's home was being vandalized. So, no wonder people act crazy on the roads here. Really, I'm just conditioned to drive really fast now or the locals will tailgate you up and down the mountain. SO WHICH IS IT? Are you here to help? Because (3) officers is NOT cutting it. I've just started my research, but I do intend to submit a formal compliment on the road rage matter. You can't have it both ways. You can't say I'm doing my job one day and ignore a crime on another day. No wonder everyone does as they please is this area. They know the closest cop is over an hour away. I guess, I not only do I need a gun to protect myself, but a radar detector too--so, I don't get penalized for what a majority of people do driving up and down that mountain. Otherwise, I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't--because law enforcement continues to ignore all the speeding on the mountain that has practically become a habit if you don't want to be run off the road during the work week. read more

Be very very very careful. I am a huge supporter of blue lives and have worked along side them for the past 14 years even worked as a military police officer previously. However, when a uniformed police officer loses a ticket, creates an affidavit when notified by the citee, then creates fabricated information on the new ticket, which didn't match the old ticket. (Btw the original ticket had the black 2016 Acura RDX marked as a 2015 White MDX, nothing similar about the color. Drivers name spelled wrong, age wrong, and speed on the freeway listed as 8 mph). When taken to court the officer stated he had been "on the force" since march when the ticket was issued in February and changed the information for a third time. And guess what? Banning Court upheld the ticket and ruled on his behalf while acknowledging all of the errors, blunt lies, and omissions. Not all officers are bad and liars but in light of current events our officers must stand up and be truthful or how are we to defend them in these grave times? Man up CHP, be honest and truthful or you will continue to make police officers everywhere look bad! read more

Let's be honest. Everyone hates having to do anything with cops. I was dreading my appointment. I called to make the appointment and even the receptionist was grouchy. Very bland and not very thrilled about helping me. When I arrived to my appointment, the CHP officer who helped me was unbelievably nice!! He was talkative and did everything thoroughly and quickly, making my trip painless. Id give 5 stars for the officer and clean/easy accessible facility but they need new receptionists. read more
