If you are not a regular you will get crappy service. I took two teenagers to get their nails done and they both said they were rushed. The girls said even though barely no one was there, they were still rushed and could barely enjoy the experience. They each messed up a nail while drying and was afraid to tell the nail technician to fix them. I asked the lady to fix them when I got there(because the girls were too scared to ask) and she fussed that they couldn't keep still. These girls were polite and expected very little. I just wanted them to have a nice time getting their nails done. I still tipped her and explained that sometimes people have bad days. My daughter asked not to go there again because they always make her feel bad. read more

When I first arrived the lady said it was a 30 minute wait so I said I was gone be sitting in my car and I signed the book came back in under 30 minutes and two other ladies where in the saloon White ladies I might add the lady literally looked at me and look over the counter to call them in and acted like I was not there and then went on to say I went outside no one came to read the names off the book just did what most business do look over other races and leave black races for last ..... this is horrible service and I will never give this business anymore of my business matter of fact I was gone stay but I'm leaving And on the star part I will give the a zero allll zeros !! read more

They always do a great job, perfect painting. Never uneven. I always leave a happy customer. Other places I've tried around Slidell have always disappointed me, the painting would be horrible, I've even had acrylics put on awfully. I really like this nail salon. I've been to a few and the chemical smell is overwhelming in almost every one of them. Not here. No chemical smell assaulting my nose! That's a huge plus. The ladies that work here are always pleasant and chatty and if they sense that you're not in the mood for small talk they back off. I like that since I sometimes I'd just rather get lost in a book instead of chatting, but don't want to offend them by saying so. There are also two pedi chairs shaped like bears just for little girls. Super cute! read more

I went here for the very first time about a week and a half ago. I received a pedicure and a dip powder manicure. While my toes look great and the tech I had was friendly, I only got 2 COATS of dip powder on my nails. It should've been at least 3 coats of the color. I've had dip powder done many times before without issue. My nails are healthy. But literally days after i had my nails done here, the dip was cracking. I dont know if it was because it was too thin or what, but before i could go find a new salon to redo my nails, my worst fear happened. While i was readjusting the steering wheel in my car, my already cracked nail (from poor dip powder application), bumped the wheel and that was enough to crack it completely in the middle. I will never return to this nail salon. I ended up filing down the nail and applying super glue to start the healing process. Do not go here if you want dip powder. They don't know what they're doing. :( read more

Unqualified to be a nail salon. I went in one day for a refill and a pedicure. I have acrylic on my toenails. They didn't ask if I even wanted my acrylic filled. Usually when acrylic isn't refilled, they use the drill to smooth the nail down so that it's not lumpy. That was not done, therefore, I have lumpy toenails. Toenails were poorly polished and they didn't put a clear coat. As for my nails, I came in with the style that I wanted (the blue nails) and asked that the style be repeated in a different color. I was told by the owner that she did not know how to do the style (a thin french tip) and to come back in the morning to have them done by someone who could. I come back in the morning, the girl attempts to do my nails. As she's doing them she has airpods in and is talking on the phone. I ask her if she can make the french tip thinner and she says yes, but then tells me to put my hand in the dryer before she fixes them. Me, not being a nail tech, thought she was just going to fix them up at the end. Nope. She tries to put on the top coat and I stop her and ask that she makes them thinner. She gets up, walks to the back and tells the other nail ladies that she's booked and doesnt have time to do my nails and that I should've asked for them to be thinner before drying them (i did ask). Apparently nobody else knows how to do thin french tips either. I'm then told that I either have to just get the nails she did or get my entire nail painted. I ask for a refund since my service can't be completed and for the inconvenience of being told to come back in the morning and then still not being able to get my nails done. I have been going to California Nails for about 3 years now..(when visiting Slidell from Irvine) - Just went yesterday for a Deluxe "Pearl" Pedi and loved it!! ($30) It was a Thursday, early afternoon, and I didn't have to wait. I have been on the weekend before, but made an appointment and didn't have to wait. The ladies there are nice and do a good job. Of course, the best part is the leg massage! ;) Every now and then, I'll get a mani too - I think a normal mani is about $12. In the back, they do offer hair cut/color and waxing services - but I haven't had any of these services..I only come for the mani/pedi. From listening to the customers talk to the technicians, sounds like a lot of regulars. Since I like this place, I'm hesitant to try other nail salons in the area. If there was a zero star option I would choose it to rate this place. I went in to get my eye brows waxed but ended up leaving with a waxed hairline to match. Instead of just saying she made a mistake when I called it out, she proceeds to go back and forth with me denying it and then finally telling me to just brush my other hair down over it. It's completely evident that she did in fact get wax in my hair and pulled hair out of my hair line but she just kept telling me "it's okay, it's okay..". She finally says "well what you wanna do about it now?" I asked for the manager and she said there wasn't one there, then said she was the manager. I then told her I would definitely not pay for this because I did not ask for her to touch any of the hair on my hairline, much less rip it out, and her response was "well get out then," and she shooed me with her hands. I don't know her name, she was an older asian lady. I am new to the area and trying to find a wax salon close to my home to frequent. But I'd say that if this is how they handle themselves when they are so clearly in the wrong, I wouldn't trust them to provide any services to me whatsoever. I only hope the hair grows back so it can one day match the other side again. Also, my eye brows looked nothing like what's asked for, even though I showed her a picture of how it should look from an actual photo of my own face. I was a long time customer BUT NOT ANYMORE! I purchased a gift certificate for my mom for $100 to get a massage, manicure & pedicure. My mom called to make an appointment and because the shop no longer offers massages, and the gift certificate is just over 6 months, they will not honor the gift certificate --- NOT EVEN FOR ANY OTHER SERVICES! It's been awhile since I've been here and today reminded me why!! I brought my niece for the kids chairs. $18 for them to paint her toes and fingers!!! One thing for sure was it didn't take long! Everything was so rushed once she got started on me. It felt half ass. My nail split shortly after leaving bc no buffing my nails occurred. Will NOT go back. Very unhappy that they will not honor gift certificates that are just over 6 months old. I understand that massages are no longer offered but they could offer other services to compensate. Think before you buy a gift certificate from here. Seems like they just like to take your money and run. After all - they accepted the money and could give you something in return even if it has expired. Really - just 6 months to use?? read more
