I had the chance to check it out at the physical restaurant and it's better than what I remembered. The salt and pepper chicken wings had a nice crisp to it and was seasoned very well, garnished with green onions, and cooked with red pepper flakes for a slightly spicy but savory juicy wing. The eggplant dish, which I forgot the actual menu name was fried crispy, had a sweet crunch to it in a savory sauce that honestly was life changing. I've never had eggplant cooked this way before but it's something I'd want to get every single time. The green beans with pork was stir fried well with a generous amount of pork for a well balanced dish of soft yet firm veggies and savory protein. The honey walnut shrimp was coated and fried to perfection and kept its crunch as the meal winded down after an hour. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet richness, but didn't take away from the quality of the shrimp. The restaurant itself was pleasant and seated my party of 7. 6/5 stars if I could.

One of my absolute favorite places to visit every time I'm in TJ!!!!…read more The meat there is not even comparable to any of the places here in the United States. They have much more open food selection with much wider variety either Mexican or regular American style food. They will literally always at all times be passing by with meat, you would literally get sick of it and just have to turn the sign off (even then they still come with meat lol) The service is absolutely top notch and they made sure that we have everything we needed! Even come by all the time to see if there's any meat we would like to request so they could bring it for us!!!! That's just never happened with us before!!!!!!! We had a birthday there, and I tell you they really know how to do a celebration right, you will get the very much loud and fun birthday shoutout. Also they will make you chug a shot and shake your head like they do over there. It was so special and to be remembered. Parking structure is small there, but they do have valet and they'll take care of it for you. (I believe it's only valet parking there, I could be wrong. But we got the valet parking) Price can't be beat for the quality and amount of food. Absolute steal. 2 people on a weekend with a birthday celebration and couple soft drinks and water came to be about $80ish-$90. Which if you know how much Brazilian steakhouses in the US cost, you'd know how good of a deal that is!!!!!!!! Overall, it really sucks that this place is far away, otherwise I'd have been there every weekend :) But it is a stable to go to every time I'm in Mexico.

The staff works amazing together and you never wait long for anything you order. They are all very friendly and willing to complete a request even if it is not their immediate job duty. The sushi selection is very good and while I usually stick to Nigiri when I do the AYCE menu, my husband very much enjoyed their specialty rolls. We loved their half order portions as it allows for us to sample various rolls without commiting to a whole one. The ambiance is nice and bustling but without making it too overwhelming. He was aware we were in a time crunch so he took our orders & brought them out seamlessly. He was kind, funny, and was able to display a level of hospitality I haven't seen in a long time! The food was delicious and I love coming here for the food, HOWEVER, the service is was really exceeded my expectations this time. Thank you for taking care of us Justin!

Parking here is no problem, they have a sizable lot, as well as valet parking. The place is pretty big, clean, and nicely decorated. One we got our table, we went to the salad bar area and got a plate of whatever items were going to complement our choices of meat. At the table, we got a tab where green meant we wanted to be offered a cut of meat, and red meant stop. I mainly went for the lean beef and chicken cuts. The meat options were tasty, and the variety at the salad bar was pretty good. At the tail end of dinner, we were offered cinnamon flavored pineapple, which is one of my favorites. This Brazilian steakhouse is on point. The staff here was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The meal was as satisfying as the experience here. I recommend it.

You'd think that they have this for the Americans, but don't overlook the sliders, they're not your usual dry burger sliders! They're al pastor sliders complete with pineapple! They also have cocktails and margaritas but I decided not to get alcoholic drinks this time around. The dessert section is huge. Each dessert is a bite-sized portion so you can try a little bit of everything! And of course the meats! I loved the beef, pork and the sausages that I got. For some reason, all the chicken ones didn't really hit the spot for me. They weren't bad though. The grilled shrimps were particularly juicy and good.

This place named itself "sushi bar," but it also says it's an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant?…read moreThat feels like an identity crisis lol. I was given chips, salsa, and an appetizer soup thing in a cup. The chips were fine. I thought the soup was alright. I didn't like the salsa as I found it too watery and lacking in flavor, more like a hot sauce than a salsa. I ordered two hand rolls, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin roll. I thought they were good. I found the salmon skin too crispy and deep fried for my preference, but it was still good. Finally, I realized that not only do I never eat authentic Mexican seafood, I'm not even sure what that entails. So I dug through the menu and saw something called "Don Tono," described as stuffed with seafood, but without much other explanation. I asked the waitress what this Don Tono is exactly, and to my surprise, she wasn't sure either. So, of course I had to order it. It was a big thing of aluminum foil with goodies inside, kinda like a seafood bake. It was good, although I found the flavor to be a undertuned. I would've liked some Cajun seasoning. The best texture and taste was probably the fish itself as it was light and flaky without being mushy, and it absorbed the umami of some of the other seafood. I thought the shrimp and shellfish were just okay, and maybe just a tad overcooked for me. Honestly, I was also not a huge fan of the cheese here; I feel like it doesn't quite fit. I also got some rice and salad with it, which were both fine.

But, it's enough to get your food fix on some of the basic traditional Filipino dishes, desserts, etc. It could also be a dish to take to work, or maybe something to get for dinner because you were just too tired to cook. Whatever your reason for making it over to Dona's Filipino Grill, I really think there's a dish or two out there that you will like or grow to love. I always say, don't knock it, until you try it. I am now a fan of this place. Another reminder, Dona's Filipino Grill is not over board, nor is it under. All I know is that once a food tray is empty, the cook may not replenish that dish for the day. I'm reminded by my daughter, if you want to get the best selection - right off the grill- best to make it over earlier than later. Of course, there may be popular dishes that, more than likely, will be replenished. Otherwise, good luck, if you make it after 4pm. For big birthday parties, my daughter has ordered large trays of lumpia. Make sure ahead of time. Price, portioning and taste is good. Again, don't expect much. I usually prefer not to read reviews until after I've visited a place. So, I would say, it won't hurt to give Dona's Filipino Grill a try Oh, and please don't compare this place to Tita's Kitchen ...not fair
