The adobada tacos (marinated pork) are so so good! The carne asada(beef) are also very flavorful. The birria tacos (shredded beef form) are delicious! You have to ask for the consomé on the side . I usually go to this place. I grew up here. This place usually has its ups and downs with the food but this time I was just really disappointed in the California burrito. I've gotten the California burritos before and they weren't the best but I was hoping that maybe after a year of not eating from this taco shop maybe would be better and I was wrong. Worst California burrito I've ever tasted has like grilled onions and tomatoes, and it just doesn't taste like a California burrito has no guac in it no sour cream, just cheese, fries, meat and tomatoes and onions. These are straight up some of the best adobada tacos in the South Bay (99¢ tacos); however be advised that it's a call in your order or put it in person type place. I personally wouldn't do online orders from here. I keep seeing bad reviews but honestly I've never had anything here other than the tacos, carne asada fries, and chilaquiles but those dishes are always good so idk what people are ordering that is giving them such bad results. What I CAN tell you is that my family has been coming to this place for their adobada tacos for years because nobody does cheap adobada like this place. The tacos are 99 cents each like literally what in the 2015. I loveee it, and like be prepared they're kinda small and it's not like they're gonna be the best adobada tacos you've had in your life but I really do like them and think they're 100% worth their price. I do 4 tacos if I'm tryna fill up and 3 if I just wanna enjoy some and they always hit the spot. They also have a great selection at the salsa bar and the salsas are actually really good like flavor wise which is a big plus because I've been disappointed by taco shop salsas kinda a lot. They also give complementary chips and have cebollitas and chiles güeros on hand for the customer to grab. The store itself is a little tight which is why I opt for togo and in turn isn't great for groups larger than 4 people. That's why I'm big on call in my order and pick it up, but I won't lie sometimes if it's me my dad and my brother we'll just eat in there. And like it makes it so much nicer to get chips, cebollitas, and chiles when you're actually eating at the place cause they're fresh and warm and can get extra salsa if you want. They were also blasting music today when I pulled up mind you at like 9:30 pm which just shows that the homies get real litty here so just come knowing what you're expect to eat and please don't be experimenting with new dishes, this ain't that kinda establishment. My order had just been bagged as I arrived. Ordered Carne Asada Nachos/Chips to go. They were HORRIBLE! There was only enough meat for about 1.5 tacos. The meat was dry, burnt and cold. About a small spoon full of guacamole on one section of the box. No beans, like they told me over the phone were included. A lot of white cheese and a lot of sour cream. What a gem! The focus is all on the food here, so know that the ambiance is no-frills. Often, the employee at the register only speaks Spanish, but I'm sure you could get by with pointing at the menu if needed. Our favorite tacos are the adobada (I always end up wishing I'd ordered more of them) and the cabeza. The chicharron is stewed, so it's a bit messy to eat and the texture is quite slippery. This business marks unclaimed on Yelp but I will say this business is worth a visit. They offer many specials for tacos and daily manager specials on select menu items. I ordered 1 taco de cabeza with side of fries. No photo because I ate them right away lol. The staff here is amazing only 2 people total and they kept up with the rush hour. Holy crap! This place was BOMB!! I came after work. I had a long drive from San Ysidro to LA. A local recommended this place. It's a decent sized place, in a plaza. I ordered a carnitas burrito (easy handling for a drive) and a large horchata. The horchata was DELICIOUS. The burrito was DELICIOUS and a great size. Ugh, I wish this place wasn't so far away from me, as I do live in LA. Next time i'm down south i'm going to visit. There are a lot of problems with this place, but the worse is definitely that they constantly get my orders wrong. I do not ask for complicated orders, its a burrito meat only. However, they still manage to get it wrong. There are other minor things I see here that added up just frustrates me; they as add a card fee for transactions, they ask how many salsas you want (to be stingy,) they water down their salsas. They are FRESH... and that is important as many taco shops do the from frozen path which is no bueno. Five rolled tacos, FRESH rolled tacos, smothered in lettuce, guacamole, cheese and pico de gallo. So, it is a smidge of a hike if you don't live in San Ysidro but totally worth it.
