On Sunday, October 11, 2015, we visited the California RV Show in Pomona for the first time ever. It will be the last. They specifically advertised on their website - http://www.thebestrvshow.com/Campers - 7 different pop-up trailers from four different brands. Out of the "1,325 brand new RVs," we saw 3 pop-up trailers. A-frames are not included in this total. Specifically, we were searching for the Starcraft Comet. It was on the California RV Show website to be "on display." Not so. Next on our list was the Forest River Rockwood. It wasn't there either. The two that I remember that we saw were the Livin' Lite Quicksilver which was outrageously overpriced. Mike Thompson's RV had probably the nicest, non-pushy salespeople out of all of the buyer's displays working that day, but they had only one pop-up trailer, the Coachmen Clipper. It was a nice, sturdy trailer, but it was their top-of-the-line too. I think the third pop-up we found was a Columbia Northwest. Stuff that was on display: motorhomes and vans (class A, B, & C), travel trailers, 5th wheels, toy haulers, truck campers, and A-frame campers. The temperature was 110°F just shortly after noon. We pushed our toddler daughters in their strollers as quickly as we could through the limited shaded areas. They were so miserable that we skipped out on the free Ferris wheel ride. I'm not sure if you can bring your own food and drinks in, but the concession stands are overpriced and cash only. (Very few vendors that I noticed supplied free cups of water.) Parking ($10 per car) and admission ($10 per day) is cash only as well. Kids & active military were free. AAA Westways magazine had a "buy one single day admission for $10 and get one free coupon." If you don't already receive that exclusive magazine, print the coupon from California RV Show website (listed above) for $1 off your ticket. Coupons must be presented. Airstream had a cool jack-o-lantern painted trailer with some bales of hay set up. We saw a green VW Thing. We had a lot of fun at the RV show yesterday. They really brought out the best. Almost every RV there was nicer inside than my LA apartment. We toured and relaxed in $650,000.00 RV'S. I know people that bought homes in West LA for 2x that price that are not nearly as nice. The sales staff we talked with were very knowledgeable and interesting. You have to live and breathe RV for more than 20 years to know what you are talking about. It's such a specialty. It was great to talk to some pros. Cold water is 3.50, Lemonade is 5, and beer is 11. Parking is 10, Admission is 10. Bathrooms are porto pottys. The ones inside the gate are nicer and have sinks. Really need 2 days to see everything. Tremendous discounts all over. $500,000.00 RV's going for 374,000.00. You can deduct the loan interest as a second home. read more

We are in the beginning stages of buying a travel trailer and decided to come here and get our get feet wet. We opted to go on a Monday, which was great to beat the crowds. Tickets were discounted online at $13 each. Parking was a little steep at $12, but I guess that's life in L.A. Overall we were not disappointed. They had every major brand and more from tent trailers to deluxe motorcoaches. The sales people were not pushy. There were plenty of representatives available to answer questions and show us details about each individual camper. They also had a large tent area filled all the "things" that make rv'ing easier. We only ran through there, but could see spending a lot of money in there once we figured out the camper situation. We started off with the thoughts of a bumper pull trailer no more than 25'. Before long we were looking at 40' + 5th wheels and toy haulers. There's a lot of information! If you have an idea of what you are looking for, try to stick with it and not get taken off course..because is really ready to do! (OF COURSE I WANT A GARAGE AND PATIO!, were my sudden wants lol). We did fall in love with a 25' Lance 2465, but at $50k we definitely have to think more on it. The downside to going during the week verses the weekend seemed that not as many brochures and reps were on hand. There were lots of pop-up tents with tables but no-one to man them. But again, we had no problem finding reps and sales people. Written information just seemed to be lacking. Overall a great experience. Lots to consider! read more

We went up to the Pomona Fairplex on 10/8 to check out the Big RV show that was there. It's been probably 15 years since the last time I went to an RV show. So MANY different trailers, motorhomes and luxury coaches to see, 6 hours was not nearly enough time. But after walking around in the mid 80's heat and sunshine, climbing in and out of dozens and dozens of RV's, the show did what it was supposed to do. It got us enthused with RV's and I've been doing a helluva alotta of window shopping each day since going to that show! Now all I have to do is win the Lotto so I can afford to buy one! It looks like people were miserable at the California RV Show in the heat and with the crowds on Saturday. Fortunately, we didn't read the Yelp reviews prior to attending today on Sunday. It seemed like the issues with long lines and lack of shuttles was not an issue today. It may have been that the numbers attending were less on a Sunday, or maybe Fairplex got their act together but we were fortunate to have a relatively smooth visit today. We arrived at 11am and went directly to parking lot 17 and planned to take a shuttle into the venue. This was our first time attending any event at Fairplex and also our first RV show. We went with no expectations. In our group: 3 kids, 2 adults, and a dog. Parking was $10 and we had no issues getting a spot close the shuttle stop. The shuttle was waiting for us as we walked up and we easily found seats on the air conditioned bus with our rather large puppy, no problem. Once dropped off at the front gate our entrance was smooth-sailing since we purchased our tickets online. It was $15 per adult online. We walked right in with those online tickets and then, BAM! You are in a whirlwind of RVs all around. It can get pretty confusing but they provide a detailed map in a magazine outlining the basics of the RV show. You also got a reusable shopping bag for goodies at the entrance. Since we went with no set expectations, it was a good visit. We saw the RV models we were interested in and also checked out a few makes / models that were really different, expensive, or just fun to see. Food was very pricey! Pink's hot dogs were a downright rip off at $8 - $12 for a single hot dog. Multiply that by 4 hot dogs, 1 fries, 2 drinks and that's $54 for lunch. Word to the wise, pack your own lunch!! Definitely bring water. They don't stop you from bringing in food at the gate. The booths were not that informative or interesting. There was NO free stuff other than a few cheap reusable shopping bags, lots of paper pamphlets, candy, and a random Frisbee. People were nice, sales people were not too pushy, but the stuff being sold was too pricey. Some of the RV resorts were there with info but I can get that online... So don't go here for the booths or you will be sorely disappointed. Again on the way out the shuttles were efficient. We did not have a wait to get on the shuttle at 3pm. At that time we were ushered into the bus immediately. Again our dog was welcome on the air conditioned bus. NICE! Overall, the show is a good place to go if you want to go one place to see lots of different makes and models of RVs and if you are ready to buy. Every RV we looked at was on average $10,000 less than MSRP. If you are not into walking around in the sun, talking to sales people, and seeing many models of RVs, skip this event. It isn't for everyone. We definitely were ok bringing the dog and kids but wouldn't recommend this as a good place for dogs or kids. Our verdict on this place is once was enough and we won't ever go back unless we want to snag a deal and buy our next RV. read more

This is the 65th annual RV show and it was my first time attending. This show is pretty darn big! So many RV's, so little time! I suggest that you get up there before or by opening time, or be prepared to wait in the hot sun burning your skin while in line for a charter bus to pickup by the bus loads and drive you to the other side of the fairplex to drop you off. We waited for 30 minutes to finally board although 5 buses rolled up one after the other. Leaving was much easier. There were many vendors, but nothing really popping off to the point of me wanting to buy anything for my RV. The food vendors were few with long waits, so I suggest to bring a lunch and bottles of water (or get them free from the sales people). The bbq stand up there was $11 for a plain chicken sandwich or 5 ribs for $15, and $4 for a bottle of water sold all over! Boys and girls can you say "highway robbery?"....I knew you could. I also suggest to get a multi day pass so that you can come back if you want to see the entire inventory, see one side, then come back for the next side. 1,400 different makes and models to choose from, with supposed deals only to be found at the fairgrounds, at least that's what the salesperson told me. read more

Ok so getting in here was a nightmare. Probably took us an hour or more between traffic on the street, then traffic inside the track just to get to the parking lot, then waiting in line for the tram that takes you to the show. It was a disaster. The show itself was good. I don't really have anything to compare it with. However most all the manufacturers were represented. The ones we know about and follow their lineup had all their new stuff there. Most of the areas were run by local dealers. It's good if you want to make a deal, not so good if you are researching and have lots of questions as most do not know that much about the rigs. Some did have a manufacturer rep on site which I think they all should. Still we enjoyed the show itself. However another issue was the food/drink situation. They only had a handful of vendors selling food and drinks. Only 2 dedicated drink vendors that I saw. This means the lines were huge for food or drinks. Around 3pm (when the lines for food finally died down and we got something to eat) all the vendors had run out of drinks. I saw a bunch of people running from vendor to vendor trying to find something to drink. Plus it was very hot. They have big window where you can get beer but they also have sodas etc. I recommend going here if the line isn't too crazy as they sell the same soda everyone sells for $3 for $2. You can also get a beer for $5 which is reasonable for this type of event. Could have been 5 stars but they need to be better organized. read more

Huge number of RVs to look at, all shapes and sizes. $13.00 on line admission saves you time in the ticket lines. Signs for shuttles to the gate but we never saw one, so we walked in. The good... No pressure browsing, the sales people are there if you need one but they are not hovering like if you go to one of the dealerships. The bad... Parking, not the fault of the show but the venue, we drove an hour to get to the venue and spent 45 minutes waiting to get into the parking lot, the speedway needs more than one lane Turing into the lot, 6-8 cars per turn arrow is just in realistic for a venue of this size. Free parking was a nice surprise. Took about 4 hours to look at the stuff we wanted to see which was about 2/3 of the show. Plan on lots of walking ant take your own water as there are limited food stands and limited water stations at some of the dealer exhibits. May go back again it just depends on what we have going on the next time it comes around. read more

Signage is non existent from the freeway. Only one gate to get in for parking and the line is literally a mile long to get into the parking lot. It's as if the promoters did not know we would be driving our cars and trucks to the event. Once you finally find the single entrance the parking attendents don't seem to have a clue where I'm supposed to park. The event itself was as good as always. Plenty to see and knowledgeable staff. The layout was good. Leaving the parking lot was a challenge also as, again the attendents don't seem to know what they are doing and there was only one exit sigh which brought me to a locked gate. Just don't go! If you do, make sure you bring water because the lines to obtain water are long and there are few people to fill orders. So bad, I think it's not safe for children. I paid $50 * $10 parking and 2x $20 for two of us to attend, and I left because I was horribly thirsty and unwiling to stand in line to buy bottled water. There is free water at the entrance, and I drank 12 cups of it. Too bad! There were lots of great RV s and sales people. Overall, I'd say, it isnt really safe to go there in this weather. After many years of attending this RV show this one is the last. In fact I never made it in side the front gate this year. Inexplicably we was directed to a remote parking lot, after a long wait to enter we were then to wait in a long line for a shuttle to enter the show. You'd think there would be information regarding wait times? This was an unorganized mess, no signage of where to even find the shuttle, no explanation at all in the changes. So long RVIA. read more

Went to RV show today, Saturday. What a mistake! It was hot 100 degrees. Very little shade and water, $3.44 for a bottle? Some food available but expensive. Very few tables with shade. They could have put up some pop-up shade covers. The salespeople were like fleas!, very annoying!. I was hoping for more displays for accessories. My family went not to buy but to do some research on different options, floor plans, types for future purchase. I got to say it definitely was very educational. I have researched RV's and campers online before but it was a great crash course for my wife who has just slept one night in a camper trailer before. My older one had fun time going in and out of as many RV's, campers and toy haulers as he can while younger one (1YO) had fun exploring new environment. He especially loved the top bunk of C class RV's. Great to see all different types right next to each other to compare. My wife went from we probably get one eventually in the future maybe to we should definitely buy one soon. We are pretty clear on which one will fit our family and definitely sold the idea to my wife. Luckily it was cool when we went on the last day. Some of the vendors had shades. Most RV's were running A/C full blast so if you got hot you can always hop in and relax. Carry a water bottle. I saw many vendors had their own water cooler that you can refill. There were Pink's hot dog, burgers, Mexican food, Chicken wings, BBQ, pizza on each corner of the lot where you can rest and eat. I appreciated that sales persons were friendly, informative and helpful, and not pushy at all. By last day, many models were already sold and some vendors closed off models that were sold whereas other vendors still allowed people to walk inside to look around. Definitely cannot see everything single RV in one day. We figured out what we wanted and ended up looking for small And as some have already mentioned...yes a lot of RVs/campers are much nicer than places I have lived in before. Have been going to the RV show for many years now and can say a love the new venue and the new layout makes it a lot easier to find your way and/or find what RV you want to look at. Enjoyed having the food court in one area instead of having to hunt each corner of old layout looking for the food that you wanted :) And did I mention that parking for the first time is FREE ! that is a big plus! read more

Parking is a nightmare, just like previous years at the Fairgrounds. Long line to get into the parking. Very long line to get shuttled from the parking to the show area, just like the fairgrounds. Drove right out of the area and went home. Wasted 2 hours and a online ticket, just like the previous year at the fairgrounds. Never again! read more

I guess this is what passes for an RV show in California... they should see the RV supershow in Tampa Florida, or Hershey Pennsylvania.(where it takes 4 days to just WALK the grounds, with EVERY RV made on display as well as parts and accessories. At Pomona food is typically high priced fair food and parking is $10. Limited amount of new RV's on display. read more

This is a great place to see what the industry offers and narrow down your search. Its one of the few opportunities you will have to compare the majority of RV's offered on the west coast. Last year, I got a great deal on a Honda generator. New models are rolled in the Fall so its a good time to get a bargain on last years model. I would go the second weekend because you are more likely to get a better price. Sure, there are salesman like there will be at any RV dealership. Bring your own water and eat before you go. Check the weather and don't go when it's supposed to be 100 degrees. There is a buy one get one coupon in Octobers edition of trailer life magazine. read more

We have been to this show several years in a row. Today we show up and they were making us park at gate 17 (instead of the normal gate 9) and take a shuttle. We were not allowed to walk on our own. The line to get into the gate was over 30 min. They had 8 lanes open and then everything bottlenecks into one lane to park. Then the line for the shuttle we were told was 2hrs long (it's over 100 out here)! It seems like the organization is a complete cluster #*%@ this year and we bailed out. They really need to improve the parking and entrance. To wait in a line to park and then a crazy long line (a hour plus) to catch a bus to enter the show is absolutely ridiculous!!! 2017 was my first year of attending this show. The weather was hotter than forecasted. It seems like there have been a lot of buttercups complaining about the heat. I found the show to be awesome. Ton's of rv's from every manufacturer to view. While sales staff was very available to answer all questions it was the manufacturer reps that made my day. All where willing to show me in inner secrets of their product. What brand water pump, what type of power converter. A well built trailer is so much more than the color on the outside. If you can deal with warmer weather or think too highly of yourself to stand in line for something than stay home. It will make the show much better for the rest of us. read more

Drive to the wrong gate, get directions from Pomona PD, Wait a half hour in traffic to pay $10 for parking, wait for a spot, wait an hour to get on a shuttle, pay another $15 and you're in!! Gave up. We attend the RV show every year. We love to see the new and best in RVs and going through the vendors tent is always fun. This year, parking was free which was fantastic. The new layout was super easy to be able to see everything without having to find the walk forever to a corner of the lot to find food....Love the big multiple bathrooms...better than the Port-a-potties! Options for eating were wonderful. Snow cone vendors were a nice plus for the hot day. read more

Then, we realized that you have to wait in a huge line to get put on a bus and get bussed over to the other side of the fairplex where the show actually is. This is horrendous! Arrived at the RV Show at 10:20am. The lot on White was shit down.. made you drive to gate 17 which is the fairgrounds main lot about a mile away. Over 300 hundred people in line in the hot sun waiting for 2 shuttle buses that we have only seen 1 in over 30 minutes. The crowd is angry, people are leaving.. as will I very soon.. oh well I guess it's on to Florida or Arizona to buy my new RV read more
