While I understand that there are fixed state fees for documentation and registration, your business also charges service or business fees, which are determined by your company and contribute to your revenue. I arrived around 8:45 - 9:00 AM, shortly after they opened at 8:30. Friendly Staff: The young man at the desk was very polite and friendly, making the process smooth and stress-free. Payment Options: They offer a discount if you pay in cash, so be sure to ask about that. You can also handle your vehicle registration there, but note that there may be a fee. Helpful Recommendations: Since it takes about 24 hours for the smog results to update in the DMV system, they recommended going to AAA for immediate registration processing. Had to help my car smog, checked and used my yelp to locate the smog center. Marco and Blake greeted me with smiles. They were very friendly my smog check only took less than 10 minutes. They were quick and very efficient. Although I have received quotes from other smog centers that were much less this facility was close by and I chose to go there. It cost me $95 including tax. Been going to California Smog Center for 20+ years with 5 different vehicles. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. No appointment is necessary. They offer complimentary beverages (water, coffee, soda) while customers wait. The smog check is completed quickly once the technician starts but they can get busy at times. Customers may wait inside the facility or under a canopy in the back where the test is performed if they prefer to watch the technician. I highly recommend California Smog Center. This place is located in the backside. I asked for a quote through Yelp and was advised to show the quote once I get there so that they will give me a discounted price. I went on a Saturday morning and was helped right away and it took about 10min. Sadly my car did not pass the first time but they told me exactly what to get fixed. They do not do repairs themselves so I trusted that they wouldn't just suggest for me to get something that didn't need fixing. I went back the following week on a Saturday afternoon and there was again no line! Left the place within 10 min and passed (: Friendly staff with a smooth and quick experience. Pricing isn't bad either! Make sure to ask for a quote prior or get the coupon on their website. They even have a Groupon post. Two years later, I'm due for another smog check, and it was a no brainer to make a return visit to the one and only California Smog Center. However, if not for the buggy Yelp mobile app which my fellow Elite Yelpers have griped about recently with all of its numerous and debatable software updates, it's very possible I could have gone somewhere else. On my computer, when I was looking up smog centers on Yelp, this listing has a Yelp check-in offer of $20 off any smog check. However, on my phone, I saw an even better offer, specifically the one I mentioned in my first review. I sent off another Request a Quote, which also has its fair share of bugs, asking which of the offers was correct. Luckily, Gus was pretty punctual in responding, even well after business hours, saying he'd honor the better offer as long as I showed his message to the service writer. Here, appointments are not needed, and the best part is that if your smog check were to fail, they give you a free retest within 3 months! That's assuming the year of your car starts with a 2. If it starts with a 1, you'll have to pay more for the inspection, plus $50 for a retest should the initial inspection fail. I pulled up to the station on an early Thursday afternoon, and even though I had been there once before, I was still questioning if I was at the right place. While it did mention smog check station, it wasn't clear that it was California Smog Center until I went inside to check with the service writer, Isaac. Phone in hand with the message from Gus showing on my screen, I asked Isaac, who confirmed I was at the right place. Isaac, a technician working under Gus, was fantastic! Super chill and appreciative of my business. Definitely a wonderful asset to the team! With how customer service has been dwindling in the food service industry, I definitely think Isaac would be a great asset to any restaurant looking to hire front of house staff. After handing him my vehicle registration renewal notice and the inspection fee, he told me to drive around towards the back. After making my way around, he then instructed me to make a sharp turn around and park in front of a red flag by the garage, keeping the engine running while I went back to the lobby by way of a designated carpet. I asked how much time he needed to do the smog check, and he said just 5 minutes. I'd say it took less than that I didn't even bother to grab a cup of coffee despite the time of the day when I could have used one. The lobby isn't very spacious with only four chairs inside, but they do have some magazines as well as various signage on the walls to keep you company. Also some Dubble Bubble bubble gum, and did I mention the coffee? However, like one sign says, they are fast, so maybe the coffee isn't really needed unless they get slammed with a dozen customers at once. After my smog check was done, Isaac called me back, letting me know the inspection resulted in a pass and that he electronically transmitted the necessary information to the DMV on my behalf. All I had to do was pay the vehicle registration fees, though he did recommend waiting until the next day to do so unless you have AAA, which in that case, you could make your payment immediately afterwards. He also handed me back my renewal notice and some paperwork confirming that my smog check requirement was met. Fast, easy, and much cheaper than what the other smog check stations could offer. What more can I ask for? How about a free bowl of ice cream?! lol wishful thinking of course, but if they can actually make that happen, that would be so dope! read more

Same day appointment and was in and out very quickly. My parents were not confident about the tight maneuvering needed (it's tough to move a 40' RV in a parking lot), so they even moved it for them to do the testing and again to get out easily. They took the time to go over what needs to be done to fully register the RV afterwards (it's quite a bit different with a large RV and I had no idea). Totally went above and beyond.
