Catalytic converter on car was laser etched with authorized State of CA, Air Resource Board Executive Order D-562-75 (see photo). Tall non-asian technician told my Dad he needed pay $100 in order for it to pass and needed to pay another $65 for testing. Will be reporting business to Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR).

J & B Smog Conveniently located in the small plaza between different auto shops. The process is actually simple and fast. The technician is friendly and funny. You can ask for discount if you pay cash. A little secret I've found out. Every 2 years we need to have the smog test based on the requirement of the law. And there are many different places that you can do so and the prices are also different. This is one of the cheapest I have found. In other places, you end up paying somewhere around $70 and here I pay $55. A little saving for the gas, not bad. It is usually not busy because the process is quite fast. Bring your document and it can be done within 10 minutes or so. Recommended. Even though the office does to look fancy, but you don't stay too long anyways.

The wait was super short (under 30 minutes), and he even offered. My vehicle passed with flying colors, and the price was fair and transparent--no hidden fees. This is great Star certified smog test center. The test was very quick and efficient and I was done in 10min. Tech was nice and helpful. Along Pioneer but it's on a corner so you have to turn on Arkansas St to access the complex. read more

After a decidely unkosher smog test experience at Purrfect Auto Service in Artesia, where they said I failed the visual inspection & needed a new exhaust manifold, transmission, O2 sensor, yadda yadda yadda - I looked for a new STAR station to have a smog test done for my truck. Mom recommended I go here, so J & B it is! With a small parking lot shared by several businesses, J & B is a quaint, STAR test-only station. With only 1 customer ahead of me & being a walk-in, I watched a little bit of the World Cup (Mexico vs. Cameroon) before my vehicle would be serviced. After about a 10-15 min wait from the previous customer to my truck being completed, my truck passed & my paperwork sent to the DMV. $60 for the test, which isn't the cheapest, but I was highly satisfied with the results & speed of service. Mr. Kim prefers cash or check over debit/credit, so try to oblige him and he'll get you going in no time. J & B Smog, you now have a loyal customer! My previous smog experience left a sour taste in my mouth and you happened to sprinkle a little sugar on my tastebuds. Gamsahabnida, Mr. Kim! Highly recommend for your smog needs! read more

They were able to help me with my smog check and let me know what was wrong with my truck all the way around. I needed an oil change and they took care of it no problem. Also was able to tell me which tire pressure sensor was bad and was able to tell me about my stability track. On top of all of that they topped off all my oil and fluids. Check all of my filters. It was just a really good experience that I haven't had from a repair shop in a very long time not even the dealer does it like that anymore. I really appreciate how transparent they are. Five stars really aren't enough stars for them. And the best part is, it's a price you can't resist. Thank you guys!

He could have easily run the test and charged me, but he chose to do the right thing. Really appreciate the transparency and professionalism. Mr. Kim, John, his son that runs the day to day, Mike, Mario and Mr. Han are the most professional, honest and nicest people you'll ever meet. It gets busy there and I've noticed some reviews of rudeness and impatience. I've never ever experienced such. I'm certain, in those instances, the shop was full and those dissatisfied people did not have the patience. Guaranteed that if you're the first one there in the morning, their attentiveness is spot-on. John runs an extremely professional, honest business and I fully recommend them to anyone needing any sort of automotive service. They are highly rated and have been in business a very long time. Again, just make sure you get there early. They are always busy for a reason.

I drove out of my way to visit this particular location because of the great reviews and I was very glad I did. The employee I dealt with were incredibly polite and helpful. From the time I arrived until my car was ready was only about 15 minutes on a Sat. morning. Effortless transaction - will definitely drive out of my way again to Artesia next time. My husband was looking for a place on Sunday to do a smog check on my car. This location was the only place around our area to be open on a Sunday. Felipe was very friendly and the service was fast. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. read more

The guy who does smog check is a nice friendly guy and their prices are good as well. They don't over charge anybody just for smog check.

Open on a Sunday with in and out service. Prices are the same as everywhere else and got $5 off for a check in.
