I recently completed my third smog test at this location a couple of weeks ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner was friendly, mentioned that I didn't need to bring the Groupon coupon before that they would just automatically enter it upon arriving.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was no wait this time, took me 10 minutesor so to complete. There were no extra fee up charges compared to other places I've been to in the Long Beach area. If you need a smog check and are within driving distance, consider going here to complete your auto registration. read more

But if you just want a fast, no frills, and reasonably priced smog check ($60), then A1 is your neighborhood place to go. I've been to A1 Test Only & Smog on several occasions to get a 2013 Toyota Prius as well as a '90s Honda smogged. This place gets busy, a sign of a good business, and they are pretty efficient with their smog tests. I've seen other cutomers come in and were given some advice on what to replace before getting tested in order to pass - free of charge. I don't remember the actual prices I paid for my smog tests but do recall they were much less than other smog test stations nearby. If you're near the area and in need of a smog test, be sure to give A1 test a try. read more

They told me I could bring my car in anytime between 8am-5pm (and even Sundays 8am-3pm). I dropped off my car at 8:30am, and it was ready by lunchtime the same day. On top of that, they even offered a complimentary shuttle ride home--something the dealership no longer provides. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Mark's customer service was outstanding both over the phone and in person. The shop itself was clean and well-organized, and I noticed several repeat customers while I was there, which says a lot about their reputation. Most importantly, my door handle works perfectly now--just like when I first bought the car. I'll definitely be coming back to Action Auto for future repairs. Prior to agreeing to the $200 diagnostic, I asked Brian whether any of that fee would be credited toward the repair if I moved forward. He told me that **half** would be credited, meaning $100, which I felt was fair. Based on that, I expected something close to the following: * Diagnostic: $200 ($100 credited) * Labor: $200 (install time is .9 hrs + 1 hr diagnostic) * O2 Sensor: $179 (the same OEM part costs $59.98 at any auto parts store) Brian then quoted me **$579 total**. When I asked about the previously mentioned diagnostic credit, he declined to honor it. I also asked if I could bring in my own part. That's when things really went downhill--and honestly, I wouldn't have posted this review if it weren't for what he said next. In a very belittling tone, Brian responded, *"Do you bring your own lunch to a restaurant?"* He then continued by saying the building costs $10K a month and that they're expensive because they can be. The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

Mr. Kim, John, his son that runs the day to day, Mike, Mario and Mr. Han are the most professional, honest and nicest people you'll ever meet. It gets busy there and I've noticed some reviews of rudeness and impatience. I've never ever experienced such. I'm certain, in those instances, the shop was full and those dissatisfied people did not have the patience. Guaranteed that if you're the first one there in the morning, their attentiveness is spot-on. John runs an extremely professional, honest business and I fully recommend them to anyone needing any sort of automotive service. They are highly rated and have been in business a very long time. Again, just make sure you get there early. They are always busy for a reason.
