The response to my review is a flat out lie. I am sending it, as well as the emails between Ken and I to to the California State Bar. Since I told his manager I did not want the consultation with a Los Angeles-based lawyer, which does matter, it was of no value to me. I did not want it, I did not want the call, and I never should have been called after I told them I didn't want the consultation. Instead of confirming cancellation, they call me early just to get the consultation in. There was no refund. There was no value. Ken, you best prove that you refunded anything, and specify any value at all that you provided, any at all. Tell me what value you can provide if I was never going to hire your lawyer. I engaged a 30m consultation. Chelsea Quinton Cooper #275383 was assigned to me for an appointment at 5pm. She did not call me on time or make any contact. I had to google a phone number after 10 minutes, and send an email before contact was made. She called to ask me to call back from another number in 5m "if it wasn't a big deal." On the phone, I found Cooper to be very undirected, repetitive, and generally unhelpful, ultimately argumentative and ended the call berating me. She hadn't even read my intake information, and it honestly felt like she wasn't even listening to me. This was a terrible experience when I am in an already stressful situation requiring legal guidance. I lost valuable time waiting for this appointment. UPDATE - NEXT AM I attempted to reschedule, however the front desk person was going to "take a couple hours" to offer me a time. When I initially paid for my consultation I was called in 15m and booked a time. When it was clear he was offering me 0 customer service intentionally, I opted to begin the process of refund. I asked 3x, to which he replied he'd give me a call back. I refused, saying the action must be taken while I was on the phone, and that I required an email documenting that the action was taken and the refund was approved. Instead, he refused and ultimately hung up on me. At this point, I am just calling my bank because this is clearly a fishy business after reading these reviews. read more

Reached out for an initial consultation, everything went smoothly. Spoke with a nice lady who offered support and seemed knowledgeable. She offered to do a demand letter to my landlord for illegal practices for a fee of $700. I paid this fee on Nov 1, 2024. I followed up with her to get a status after 2 weeks. She said she was behind and I understand that this tends to be a common thing in the business so I overlooked it and asked just to follow-up when she can. Another 2 weeks and nothing, reached out and she profusely apologized. Again, I was polite and she was very nice so I said ok and to let me know if she needed any additional information and she promised to get it out in a week. I waited until December 23 to ask for another update and she didn't even know who I was. After some thought I asked for a refund for the service that was obviously never completed or even started. She then promised to send it before Christmas for my review. Again, I acquiesced and said okay because I really preferred a demand letter as originally discussed. Jump forward to today February 17 and not a peep or a response from anyone. I just want my money back at this point, I have no grievance against the attorney, it just seems like they are overbooked but at the end of the day I'm not getting what I paid for. read more

Long story short - I paid $165 for a 30 minute consult and they will not fulfill their services and have fallen through on multiple promises without explanation Full story - I booked a 30 min consult and scheduled with Ken Carlson's associate Chelsea Cooper for Tuesday last week. She never called, and towards the end of our scheduled time I reached out to Ken's assistant Julie to let her know. Julie was extremely responsive, professional, and kind, and within the hour Ken filled in to talk with me. We talked for 11 minutes - Ken is very knowledgeable and pleasant to speak with, but most of our discussion was boilerplate as he did not know my situation and we didn't have time to discuss it, with the idea being that I'd fill in the specifics with Chelsea another time. I contacted Julie the next week to let her know that we'd only fulfilled 11 minutes of my 30 minute consultation. Julie gave me her email and spoke with Chelsea who told her that she'd call sometime in the afternoon on Friday but didn't want to commit to a specific time. I cleared my schedule and waited around my apartment for a call, but once again, nothing. I don't know what's going on in her life, maybe some emergency, but it's now end of business on Monday, almost two weeks after our initial scheduled appointment, and I haven't heard anything from Chelsea. I'm not going to keep pestering Julie, and suffice to say I shouldn't have to hound someone just to fulfill the service I purchased. read more

I paid for 30 minute consultation I didn't get even close to 30 minutes. I talked with Brittney Tolbert she didn't seem to be listening to what I said, I felt rushed she said that since I didn't use all my time she would review my case for free- How is that free that is what I was paying for? She did not inform me how the service works which caused a problem in the end. After leaving court I called Brittney to ask what I am suppose to do when the clerk told me something different than what Brittney told me to do. She was so rude to me maybe she was busy I dont know but still. I had to ask her something else about the paperwork she drafted. I wasn't eager to call her bak after the response I got previously but I had to make sure everything is done right and I just wanted a quick answer. Brittney scolded me for calling her bit my head off really. She told me she was too busy to answer questions all day. I hung up feeling awful for taking so much of her so valuable time. She proceeded to send me 22 text messages rambling on and on first started with apologies and excuses, after contacting Julie to see if I can get another Attoney Brittneys text messages turned nasty and rambling excuses after Julie told Brittney I wanted someone else. This is probably for the best it would not have been a good thing for me to have an attorney that is so unhinged and stressed out or whatever is going on with her. She never told me not to call her I didn't text because I was driving. The phone call would have taken less time than her 22 messages. This is my honest review of dealing with directly Ken Carlson for about approximately 8 months of litigation. Everything started nice and sweet when he was filing papers for us and the unlawful detainer was going well, there was some paperwork done that was not correct and the paperwork got denied. He said this is normal and that we should file a rid of mandate. This paperwork takes it up another level got denied and I ended up out on the streets. I paid this man over $20,000. The paperwork was only a few thousand dollars but after he does the paperwork he expects you to represent yourself and you can't ask any questions about the paperwork even if it's wrong. Even if it's on timely even if it's denied you still have to pay to ask him a question and that is called a consultation. The point of this is to delay the judge but not win any case, but during this delay process you're paying more than you would have paid in rent, and the landlord is asking for back owed rent. Which apparently is legal to do in california, and that being said you not only lose your case but you lose more money than you would have spent on your rent and you end up on the streets with no money. A very vicious cycle that I went through and I'm still repairing the broken parts that Ken Carlson personally delivered to me with a bad attitude and very rude and disrespectful to me. As a business owner I can understand running a business and generating money but this Teeter totters on extortion and it can definitely be looked at upon as inappropriate gouging of price on customer. Buyer beware that you will constantly be advantage of and this is not a good company, your best bet in California is to just move because the landlord will always win in the state of california. read more

. If you are being evicted from where you live then you must do yourself a favor and hire Ken Carlson. You need him! I can't say enough good things about this man and Kevin and Julie. Ken is knowledgeable and he has the wisdom and experience you need on your side. Trust me when your getting evicted from your home you want a lawyer like Ken who has the skills and experience to navigate the complicated legal system and Ken knows exactly how to combat the dirty tricks that the other lawyer has up his sleeve to try to get you evicted from your home. He gets his/the point across without bullshitting and he is an incredible letter writer and terrific negotiator. He is a fair minded man, he's affordable, he's honest, he's extremely intelligent, always punctual, aggressive in all the right ways. Ken fights for his clients and no matter what they do he's got their back. I can't say enough good things about him. I adore the man because he saved me and my mom from getting evicted and losing our mobile home. He saved us from being homeless or living in our car because he's an attorney with morals and dignity. Ken won't need to cheat or lie or conduct himself in any underhanded way because he has class and he knows the right way to ensure a successful outcome. The outcome from my case was over 2 years of free rent and no utility bills during the eviction process, and because we were unlawfully evicted the mobile home park had to pay us $75,000.00 to move out. As long as you listen to everything Ken tells you to do and follow his directions your case will be a success as well. But you must listen to him no matter what he says. If you mess up your case by not following him then it's on you. Ken doesn't need to kiss anyones ass because he is an expert at his profession and no judge or commissioner or clerk of the court can escape his wrath when they have treated his client unlawfully. He is truly a successful attorney and until I met Ken I hated attorneys but now I know that there is at least one honest one out there and his name is Ken Carlson. I have been meaning to write this review forever (Since 2022) - I'm not much of a reviewer but I'm so grateful to the lawyers at this group! It's definitely the BEST money I ever spent and I wish I did it much sooner. I think I spent less than $200 overall. I was being bullied by some horrible property managers in San Diego and thanks to Ken and his associates, I got them off my back within the same week and got immediate mental relief as I was assured that they wouldn't be able to do any of the things that they threatened me with (evict me, etc) The lawyers were super supportive and it was really easy to work with them as they respond by phone calls and texts very quickly. I literally can't recommend them enough, and I know one other person who they were able to successfully help after my recommendation. Unlawfully Neglectful. I filed a claim with the Bar Assoc and will press further. Monique Harris, Mike Hanna, and Ken Carlson took over $3000 from me to file a Legal Complaint. IT NEVER GOT FILED, NOR WAS IT EVER WRITTEN. I would get emails saying: "The time you paid for has exhausted please remit another payment". Each time I would send them an email asking for a detailed description of what was accomplished and then paid them. I never got a detailed description of what I paid for, or what they had done. I even made additional payments to cover future emails, letters, phone calls and the writing of the actual complaint, yet when I would call/email, they would not return my calls/emails. After a few months, I got an email saying my Complaint is in the beginning stages. That's it? ...the beginning stages! Based upon her unprofessionalism, I had to ask for Monique Harris for her bar assoc number 3 times! For instance: she sent me an email telling me to "resend the email with the attachments in the way I told you", which she never mentioned HOW to send them, then charged me for sending and receiving the email. Later, she pointed out a place on the website that indicates how to send attachments and if you don't send them this way they charge you! From the beginning they tried to upsell me to choose to litigate instead of small claims, it often felt like I was working with a salesperson and not an attorney. In the end I realized I was paying premium legal fees and getting nothing in return. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO SPEAK TO YOUR ATTORNEY OR GET STRAIGHT ANSWERS....Go the extra mile, get an attorney you can meet with, one who has a physical address and has a Secretary or ParaLegal to help with the paperwork. Working with caltenantlaw was a disorganised mess that resulted in nothing ! THERE ARE MANY, MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS AGAINST THIS FIRM AND IF YOU GO TO THE CALIFORNIA BAR ASSOC SITE YOU WILL FIND THAT KEN CARLSON WAS EVEN SUSPENDED FROM PRACTISING LAW FOR A YEAR DUE TO MISCONDUCT. read more

Ken is fine. If he passes you to Mike Hanna do yourself a favor & RUN. Mike screwed up my case BIG time. He was paid to complete & file paperwork which he had a MONTH to do but just didn't bother. He was constantly contacted & reminded about this paperwork that had a deadline, yet he still failed to do the work. There was no excuse/reason as to why he didn't do it. Not even an apology. This resulted in my easily winnable case being transformed into a complete nightmare. The whole case should have been thrown out. It's still going on. If he did the work he was paid to do, I wouldn't be in this mess. After massively botching up my case Mike did some free work, as he should have. If he didn't mess up so badly he wouldn't of had to. Even then he was making a range of mistakes with paperwork, filing, WHERE to file. The number of mistakes he made is absurd, I had to point them out to him & have them corrected. He gave legal advice that was either regurgitated from Ken, wrong or he seemed like he was making a blind guess. He has poor communication. $75 per email, $6 p/min hotline; to talk to someone who doesn't even know what they're doing?Absolute joke. His response to most questions is "Let me ask Ken" - is there anything you do know? I'm calling your $6 p/min hotline to receive legal advice/help from you. Mike would always say "I'll get back to you". Never would. I'd follow up with emails+texts asking if he could get back to me like he promised. If he did decide to grace me with a response, it wouldn't be until days later after constant persistence. I asked multiple times if he had any issues with me due to the way he was treating me + my case, only for him to deny he had; yet continued with his unprofessional behavior. Mistakes related to my case could have been realized if he put the effort into doing some research. I found legal arguments for myself just by looking online. I am not educated/trained in law, yet I found discrepancies in my case which he didn't pick up. It's questionable whether he actually looked through my case file. If he had any passion for the line of work he's in, maybe he would put in some effort & find these things out for himself. I raised my concerns to Ken. Pointed out mistakes made, his insufficiency when it came to communication... I asked if my case could be reassigned to someone else. Ken denied + advised that if I wanted to get ahold of Mike I would have to call his hotline. Why should anyone be paying for "I'll ask Ken" or to chase him for not getting back on something as promised? Money is the motive, no professional pride. Mike is a provisional lawyer under Ken's supervision. I don't think he's getting the supervision needed based on his level of work, that's if he decides to do it. This is my life that has been messed up due to Mike's actions & lack of. As stated, Ken knew of my concerns & didn't do much to ease them. He is as much to blame as Mike. Ken once said to me, & I quote; "I don't think Mike explained it correctly, so I'll explain". Why have him working on my case (which he clearly didn't care about) or anyone else's if you, his employer don't even have confidence in him? At the end, both Ken + Mike completely ignored me after having sent emails asking for help & asking if they had any issues with me. To even have to ask that question is a red flag in itself. I have a hearing coming up which they were supposed to be helping me with & there's been nothing but radio silence. They've left me in a mess they essentially created. Not only that, they don't even have the courtesy to let me know that they decided to recuse themselves from my case. If you want a professional lawyer who cares about their clients, I would recommend elsewhere. Because of their incompetence, I was on the brink of filing for bankruptcy- which I told both Ken & Mike, asking for help only to be ignored. I've now paid a PARALEGAL to look at my case who noticed my judgement is void & is fixing their mistakes. read more
