I have never been disrespected more by a business, let alone lawyer in my life. My bf is going through some recent legal issues, and we met with Stephen Levine for a consultation today. I went with my bf for support, also because his legal issues and charges affect me as well. So we go into a room and everything starts off normal. As soon as he starts asking my bf questions, things got very unprofessional. My bf had some problems answering a couple questions, so I either reminded him of details or tried to explain to Levine that we live together and pay bills together. This pertained to a question he asked my bf along the lines of why my bf withdrew a certain amount of money. My BF didn't answer right away and Levine started repeating himself in a rude manner saying "are you gonna tell me why or not!?" So I said " Well he pays our bills with another checking account." Before I could finish my sentence he yelled "I wasn't talking to you!" I was appalled. I got up and I left the room immediately. this is the absolute WORST place to go to if you want to hire an attorney! All they want to do is take your money! They don't know what they are talking about. They are ALWAYS late coming to court for you. They always act as if they are on the other opponents side. They give you big attitude and no results! I understand that nothing is promised but it doesn't hurt to at least try. Ive already spent over 5 thousand on these people. Oh yeah and they were handling a family law case for me. hired mr.knox for my divorce case and paid my retainer after presenting all my paperwork and info,since day 1 in consultation he was very arrogant and short,i was referred to him by a friend that used him for a criminal case so i was very hesitant about a family case.after paying retainer and explained what i was trying to accomplish his only words to me were"the judge will do what he wants to do" ok??? so why do i need you?? he never filed a motion or did he respond my court summons claiming he was gonna contact her attorney to work out a agreement to save me money. (yea right). when our court date came the judge litewrally made him look like a joke asking him why he did not file response and turns out it was free!! how can a attorney not know court fees!! after various emails and calls never did i get a answer to not 1 question from him or his paralegal at all they have terrible attitudes and i got nothing. not a single time did he defend me or fight for me and still got very upset when i asked what was going on and raised his voice to me in the courthouse hallway. i hate to say this but this guy is useless for family law and has no idea what to do. im sure he is a good criminal attorney but not family law.he defended my ex wife not me, everything he said was what she can get or is entitled to not what i can get or do. his paralegal is just as bad i have every email to prove it and her attitude is horrible,when i mentioned this to james he laughed and denied it.if im being charged for every email why the heck will you you not reply?? i have fired him and got a new attorney who has a game plan and knows whatshes doing, paying james knox was money down the drain... read more
