Cod croquettes
Shawn H.

We loved this place. We came for an early dinner and ordered a bunch of food: two cheeses, two orders of olives, coppa, rosette, ricotta with ramp pesto on toast, egg and anchovies on toast, ham croquettes, cod croquettes, and a chocolate tart. It was all delicious, with the ricotta, meats, olives, and ham croquettes being the standouts for me. (My wife also really loved the blue cheese with honey.) Definitely will be back here on our next visit to this region.

Didn't even know it was there! What an amazing place to go if you haven't been. We tried plenty and one thing was better than the next. Check out what we had! The romesco and pickled mussels were our favorites but everything was amazing and can't wait to come back again! Thanks!

Local blue cheese with honey...heavenly

We were caught somewhere between lunch and dinner and decided to try this lovely place. It was delightful. From the garden, to the service, food and drink. My husband was happy to sample some IPA's and my white wine was amazing (I bought a case). The tapas options were diverse and delicious. The tuna stuffed hot peppers, seared pork with tonnato and local blue with honey...heavenly. We can't wait to go back, wish we lived closer!

What a phenomenal addition to Callicoon and the greater area. Not only have they knocked it out of the park with the wine selection (broken down easily by flavor profile with handwritten notes on each bottle), but the wine bar and tapas room off of the main shop is flat out spectacular. The service, selection, and ambiance leave nothing to be desired. This place is a home run from top to bottom. I can't recommend any one menu item over another, as it changes based on what's fresh seasonally. You won't be disappointed with whatever you choose.

Summer time upstate, this is where you need to be. The new location is perfect, it creates a beautiful little space outdoors and more parking. The left side of the building is the wine store with a variety of great wines, the French burgundy here is so good! Heading to the right when you come in is the wine and tapas bar with craft beer as well. An abundance of choices will have you coming back for more. We tried 5 small plates, which can be a bit deceptive as they're more of an amuse-bouche, one bite-type of plates. However, they're flavorful and well thought out plates. Ask the staff for matching accompaniments with your wine and you won't be disappointed.

We sat outside for tapas and wine after a tour of local breweries. I don't eat meat so we ordered exclusively fish and veggie based tapas and they absolutely blew us away. Our favorite was the cod croquette - simply amazing. The ricotta was a very close second. Great tapas, great wine, great service. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

The tapas here are amazing, and they are constantly changing depending on what is available from local farms.

They had whole smoked trout with veggies as one of their specials today and my pups and I were in heaven. For $30 a platter, there was no hesitation to order another. The first plate was locked clean. My pups are now napping and likely dreaming of what they just experienced. Staff are warm and easy-going. There is lovely live music being played 5 feet in front of us. The outdoor wood urine oven, fresh vegetables and lovely drinks add to the entire experience. Hidden gem!

The place is still charming as ever, with excellent beverages and bites in a funky garden setting behind a Main Street storefront. Today we had a lovely glass of orange wine -- I'm no wine connoisseur so won't attempt to describe it, but it was enjoyable. Also tried Porch Beer" from Arrowood brewery in Kerhokson which was a refreshing sour.We liked both a lot. Food is provided by a separate entity operating out of a tent in. the back. We lucked out on a strong array of vegetarian options since there was some issue with the pork supplier. We had a peanut tostada! and two kinds of veg tamales, one of which was made from red corn masa. All were as delicious as they were unusual. There is no table service anymore; you order at the bar and at the food tent, but everyone is friendly and courteous. Music was terrific, which I recall from last year. Just relaxing, feel good, low key tunes. Just a little chill happy making afternoon snack. Highly recommended.

And it's not just the creative food, the outstanding wines, or the accommodating service. It's the one thing that all great restaurants have: an absolute commitment to making sure each customer has a fantastic experience. You can serve all the tasty food you want, but without that commitment, you'll always be good and not great. It's something these folks understand. I'm guessing it's also why everyone - and I mean everyone - we saw in the restaurant during our last visit had a big smile on their face. So yeah, we could recommend the outrageously delicious Balkan platter, the innovative pastas, or the proteins with avant garde flavor combinations. We could talk about the deep, rich wines from Croatia and Slovenia. We could muse about the modern surroundings with rustic touches. But all of that is subservient to the main point here: This is a great restaurant operating at the top of its game. It's worth the visit. It's worth a detour. I know - the secret will be out. But these folks deserve it.

Korean Beef Stew: Deeply savory, featuring tender, authentically seasoned beef over mashed potatoes (or ancient bread cubes), garnished with homemade kimchi.
