My husband went here today to select some plants for our patio. He had trouble finding anyone to help. He finally found someone and asked where the plants were that did not like bright light. He was told that they were "scattered all over. You just have to read the tags!" We hav traded with Calloways for years and have always received excellent help. He left and went to the Hurst location that immediately and cheerfully took him to the plants he was looking for. We will not be back to the Southlake location which is actually closer since our move. read more

Beautiful Nursery and good service. I have been looking for pinion wood ever since I got my new chiminea. What I am finding is that in the summer time if you want pinion, Calloway's might just be your one and only option, because most places don't stock it until Fall. As long as I was here I had to look around. Calloways is not the low price provider in the DFW nursery market, but they are one of the better on quality in my opinion. This Calloways location is located conveniently on the highway which I appreciate. The lady who was my cashier recommended a poinsettia as a low maintenance plant and guided me towards other low maintenance plants. I ended up with the poinsettia and pothos that are doing well and enjoy the bright indirect light. The prices are decent and they provide a plant holder/cover for the plants which I appreciate. There are plenty of places to park, service is friendly and they had a fireplace that brought a lovely aroma of cinnamon. I look forward to returning. read more

Calloway's Nursery - Monstera - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Southlake, Texas

Calloway's is really *the* chain nursery in this area. They keep a decent stock of indoor and outdoor plants, including trees. Prices are not the lowest, but not as high as the typical local farmers market. If you buy a tree here, they will put it in the ground for you. And, they have a guarantee that covers satisfaction (i.e. if they plant it and it dies, they'll refund or replace it). The nursery is fun to peruse, though not quite as tightly organized or colorful as Home Depot. HD also has a slightly more convenient pickup area for bags of mulch and soil, though they go out of stock. But, for year-round landscaping, Calloways is fun place to shop. Though, if you're looking for pre-made baskets, these are pretty generic. This location is the nicest one of the few we've frequented in the area. The last time we came, they were out of stock on several flowers my +1 was looking for, not too strange given it was late May. The gardening staff is very helpful, quick to answer questions and knowledgeable about the plants. read more

I like this store. The employees are very friendly & helpful. I bought 2 lemon grass plants on sale in June 2024. They were triple the size of those being sold in Walmart and Lowes. Also they were at least 50% cheaper. Calloway Southlake carries a lot more plants & plants are well organized. I will shop there again for sure especially when there are sales going on. read more

AGAIN, the worst customer service. I said hello three times to 'Chase' at the register and for not so much as a 'hello' or 'how are you'. This time I turned around and walked away. Not the first time the customer service here has lacked - the manager is obviously not doing her job. So many other options besides this Calloways location. First time customer and so disappointed about their delivery "service". After paying for delivery and describing gates to enter back yard etc. and spending over $2K on pots and plants, I come home to find my 5 giant and very heavy pots just sitting on a palette in my driveway. No call, no heads up, no delivery to the backyard like I was promised. Called the store twice to get this resolved and got two different responses: (1) that's how we deliver and you're out of luck, and (2) delivery was wrong - it was a week early without notice, and we agree you contracted for planting (next week) and they should have been put in your backyard when the landscapers showed up to plant the plants you ordered as well. To avoid them being stolen or hit by our cars, my husband somehow hauled everything to the backyard today. He texted the store to let them know and then they sent a kid to our house (who would never have been able to move them anyway) who quickly left. What the heck. read more

I am so bummed. I went hoping to get some guidance from people who really know their stuff since it is a nursery. When I asked for help the employee told me he doesn't know anything about plants but that he could help me get them in my car. I asked if he could point me in the direction of who does know something about plants and he told me there are only two people who work there who know anything about plants and only one of the two was working right then. So I waited in line to speak to her to make sure the plants I had in my cart were good for the amount of light in my home. She confirmed they were great so I excitedly took them home. I expect an initial shed of some leaves as a plant changes environment but both ficus trees I got looked sick within a few days and just got worse no matter what I did. I bought 4 plants from them and 3 of the 4 were sick. I am still trying to save one but two are just too far gone after months of trying to save them. When I finally gave up because they were beyond saving I pulled them out of my pot and there were thousands of grubs and millipedes in them! They were totally infested! Now I am worried that their infestations might be effecting my other house plants! My fiddle leaf fig hat has been rocking it for a long time that I got from Home Depot just started to look sick so I am going to see what can be done and check if it has grubs too. The trees came infested. All my plants at home were healthy until I brought these in. Absolutely don't go here. Again Home Depot was more knowledgeable and had thriving plants compared to here. read more

Who the heck gardens in this kind of weather?! Me, I guess - although not normally. Usually I do my thing in April like everyone else, but this year there were events that caused a delay. Anyway, the majority of the areas I usually tidy up each spring by adding fresh annuals to the existing perennials really didn't need any work aside from thinning due to this past mild winter. All I needed this year were some plants for a couple hanging baskets and some pots I keep on the back porch for color. I checked out one of the local big-box stores and found absolutely nothing that interested me. Then I remembered Calloways. I have no idea why I had never shopped here before, but decided to check it out. While not full of all the kind of stuff you'd likely find here earlier in the year, there was quite a bit that interested me that I thought would work well in my pots and I loaded up my cart. The staff here were extremely friendly offering assistance and water. Too bad they couldn't offer up some a/c! (I can't imagine too many things worse than having a job in Texas that requires working outdoors all day.) Anyway, I found plants that I liked in a minimal amount of time and was soon on my way. I planted the pots and everything looks great (see pic of one of the pots). They are having a promotion now where if you join their garden club and spend over $100 between 01 June and 31 August 2012 you will earn a gift card to spend there another time. The amount of the card depends on how much you spend in total during that time, but starts at $25 if you spend between $100 and $199 (see their web site for details). Not too shabby if you're willing to sweat in the garden a bit this summer. read more

Unfortunately our family returned from a month vacation in August to 100 degree plus weather and large pot plants that did not make the sustained heat despite sprinkle system. Southlake Calloways has been our nursery of choice in the past due to their excellent collection of trees , plants and beautiful ceramic pots. Being a reward member has assisted us with discounts and coupons. Labor Day morning I received a timely 30% coupon and we decided to look for several plants that would replace what we had lost. Fortunately we were taken under wing by Teresa one of the expert nursery staff. She identified two beautiful Holly trees which would withstand the remaining summer and the unpredictable fall and winter. She was very knowledgeable, personable and professional. She also assisted with smaller plants, ensuring that all of our plants were of the highest quality, and assisted with loading them in our vehicle. We were very pleased with her very personal customer service. Calloways at Southlake and Teresa will see us again. read more

Calloway's Southlake had a nice selection of plants and frequent sales in different varieties that they'll notify you about via email. Took a class on butterfly and hummingbird attraction, which was great. They don't always have what I'm looking for, but sometimes surprise me with what they do. They have a rewards program and will even plant for you. Really enjoy just meandering through the rows and seeing the new colors. read more

Both on the phone and in person, the customer service is lacking. They will point you in the general direction of what you are looking for and not make any suggestions for alternatives if they don't have an option. Many employees know very little about the plants and make no effort to make up for that fact with how they treat their customers. Prices are higher than other local plant stores. read more

I absolutely love this Calloways location. I come in a little bit too often before I go to work a minute down the road. Scotland is the nicest and most helpful employee that they have. They always have a new selection, and the one time I found I had spider mites in my Ivy they let me return every Ivy I had. Needless to say I overreacted a bit but they were so kind and did not make me feel bad for abandoning them. Also unlike most Calloways, this one seems to not overwater their plants. Overall it's the best calloways in DFW. AND they always get a big new selection of stuff so they do not look picked over. read more

Our Christmas tree this year is one of the best we've had in 23 years of marriage. The tree is extremely fresh, and after 3 weeks in the house, still consuming plenty of water - no falling needles here! They flocked the tips for a nominal charge, and it is absolutely beautiful. What a great little place! I don't have a garden, as I live in an apartment - but I needed some soil and pots to do a little planting on my deck. I was driving by and never noticed this place before but I turned in and I'm glad I did. It's a really cute place - the "inside" is like a big open garage kind of place - lots of garage doors opened to the back area. Tons of stuff - pots, soil, mulch, gloves, gardening tools, decorations. The back area had more pots and plants. And cheap too! I got a couple small-ish pots, and a bag of soil and I don't think I spent $20. It's a great little place - I was tempted to buy stuff for my mom, who loves to garden, but she's back in Boston! We come here every year for our flocked Christmas tree. The trees are great and there's a good selection, but customer service is horrible. They just helped a young and perfectly capable woman carry a small potted plant to her car right after she checked out, while we've checked out and have been waiting for our tree for half an hour. I called on my way home from work and asked them to hold something for me. I left early to make this happen. They said they would but then turned around and sold it before I got there. I was literally on my way there. Also no service recovery was attempted. Basically a smile and screw you. I would have gone to a different location. No attempt was made to even figure out if they have any anywhere. It's ludicrous when I consider how much money I spend here. Now I'm just screwed. Thanks guys. I would like to give zero stars. After going to the marvelous flower mound location, southlake is disorganized and some of the selections of indoor plants were dried and dead. I'm surprised the managers feel okay selling shriveled plants for profit. The cashier was friendly but a bit patronizing. Probably won't be back. read more

Truly impressed with the level of client satisfaction this store offers!!! It is the best seriously! We were told about their guarantee regarding backing their healthy plants when we purchased them, but in the back of my mind I still thought surely they would hassle us should we ever need to bring anything back. Nope! I was wrong! Unfortunately the 2 lavendar plants and 2 salvia plants (Salvia supposed to be very easy to grow out here) did not do so well. I planted them last Spring and they did grown about two-three times their size and looked to be doing well at the onset of Summer ... however, just started going downhill from there. I fertilized, pruned a little, cut the watering a bit....but sadly nothing helped and they just looked terrible. They probably all but died a month or so ago, but we were so busy and did not have time to return them. Finally we dug them out and brought them to the store and without question, Calloways totally refunded our money. I thought they would question time of death due to the cold weather and we'd have to convince them they actually died while it was still warm out. Can I say WOW!!?? Really AMAZED! We will be purchasing from Calloways again in the Spring when we redo our flowerbed. Super happy. Great experience! Totally recommend! read more

Nice open air nursery selling the usual seasonal color, though I would have preferred to see more perennial color during my visit and hardier plants for our Texas climate. Much of what I saw while shopping were annuals and less-hardy varieties of plants that would probably wilt at the first sign of heat waves here. Most of the patronage seemed to prefer potted type plants, which could explain some of the fewer numbers of landscaping options. read more

After reciving my Fort Worth newspaper highlighting the full page Calloway ad featuring the "BABA BOOM & BABBA BING" BEGONIA'S FOR $.99, I rushed out to the Southlake store to purchase these plants. What a disappointment. No one knew anything about these begonia's & said they "NEVER" kept an ad. ( who doesn't keep an ad??) The begonia's on sale were not these big begonia's but the everyday selection. After spending $100.00+ amount on other plants I am still disappointed in Calloway's & feel that this was a lost leader promotion. I need to rethink as to why I purchase plants at this store. read more

I go out of my way to shop at Calloways Southlake store. I always find the employees to be the most knowledgeable and kind. Their store is always brimming with a fabulous variety of plants.But I think what sets them appart from all the other nurseries are their employees. I've had the pleasure to talk to both the manager and assistant manager and they have guided me along with true interest and helpfullness. My husband and I visited the Southalke location on Mother's Day. I was ready to plant flowers and was excited about our lengthy trip to Calloway's. My husband did not understand why we passed several other nurseries on the way. I assured him it was going to be worth the drive and a wonderful experience. Last summer I wandered in with two empty pots and was looking to fill them with color. A kind young man said Calloway's would do everything for me, which I though was perfect! I told him what I wanted and what colors I liked and he did the rest. They were gorgeous and lasted all summer without problem. So this year I was looking for the same service. We looked around for a few minutes and finally located an employee. My husband told her we needed some help planting the pots and she said "Keep Walking, Happy Mother's Day" and a few other phrases I don't recall. We both stood there in complete bewilderment as we could not believe we were being treated so poorly. She realized she had misunderstood and apologized, but the damage was done. Even if we had asked for a giraffe to put in the yard the response is never "keep walking." The irony of the situation is her badge said "Customer Service!" We took her advice and kept walking. In fact, right to a nursery much closer to our home and received superb service. We will NEVER shop at any Calloway's location again. read more
