Tip: Come as early as you can for opening. There's a really long line of cars waiting to get in the parking lot once it gets busy. Whether it's Vietnamese coriander, Thai chilis, betel leaves, or guava trees, this is the place to go to get those needed Asian herbs and tropical trees. There's also beautiful flowers as well, jasmine, dahlias, peonies, etc. It looks small from the outside but it's actually really big once you get in. There's a great assortment of fertilizer and pots as well if you need to get those. Take your parents if they love gardening. They'll be delighted with this place. read more

This Nursery we got introduced to with a facebook advertising and when we visited ww found it amazingly a great place to collect plants we needed to start planting in spring! Its is a small lot and space in terms of parking space and may be a bit of struggle during peak hours. The nursery hosts an impressive space for outdoor plants, flower garden, herbs and fruit plants. They have green houses from where we got few vegetable plants. Mow these have yielded a good harvest so pleased with the quality of plants we got. Definitely recommend for you to take a look and will be visiting again myself. The amount you need to spend on the plants will not burn a hole in your pocket. There are only couple of people on the way out to ring in your items but they are fast. My mom is an avid gardener and has talked about this place ever since I took her here for the first time 4 years ago. My folks are moving to DFW soon and she wanted to check out some plants for their new home. I was surprised at how many cars there were when we pulled up. I did get the last one available but there was a sign indicating there were more parking in the back of the building. The storefront is not aesthetically pleasing nor welcoming, but it's the back where all the plants and trees are that we care about. As for customer service, it's adequate. We asked a staff member a question and he was helpful. The greenhouses are in the back where you can find all the Asian plants. Like a kid in a candy store, my mom wandered off to do her thing. She found all the plants she was looking for and even I can appreciate the variety they carry. You will likely find what you're looking for. Prices have unsurprisingly gone up from $1.25 to $1.75. Still not a bad price. They do have trees and larger plants as well and of course flowers. I spotted some cute succulents on the way out. Mom was happy. They have such a large selection of plants, herbs, citrus trees, and some indoor plants. It maybe hard to hunt down a worker, and if you find one, they may even ignore you - again, this is not a traditional nursery where customer service is #1, because here, the price/value is #1. For instance, I've been searching for a Satsuma citrus tree but for some reason, you can't buy/ship in Texas and someone was selling them for $100-$150 on FB marketplace, but here at Doan's I got one for $55. I also got a tray of herbs (18 starters) for $25. The plants aren't all labeled so you have to know what you're looking at, and if you don't pull out your cell phone and figure it out! read more

Blake tried to switch a price form 129 we had been quoted to 289! We were buying 7 More plants and 3 additional plants and he upped the price after also using the I think this is just a display line! He blamed another employee saying she was new- When we said that so many of the other succulents had bug holes, and that he should honor what Any employee quoted as a price, he just shook his head. a complete waste of time and clearly way overpriced!!! read more

This place is truly a magical place. Not only are the prices significantly cheaper than you can find almost anywhere else, but the selection is off the charts. I went during lunch break one day, and it was overwhelming to see just the extreme amount of variety. I am going to have to take a full day off soon just so I can go back and spend two or three hours looking around the place. They had exactly what I was looking for. I'll be back next week to buy some tomatoes and watermelon. It will be the first place I look for my landscaping needs. And they carry jujubes. Great prices for a lot of plants! Lots of Asian types of herbs and plants that are hard to find in Home Depot, lowes, etc. great prices!!! 4in plants are $1.25 each. If you buy a tray of 18, it's $20 flat. The only down side is the plants are not all labeled specifically. So those who knows specific Asian plants know what they are buying. But for those of us who aren't knowledgeable in plants kinda at a loss. For example, they have a bunch of mint plants, but they aren't all labeled specifically, i.e. Spearmint, peppermint, pineapple peppermint, etc. they are all labeled as one: mint. read more

Let me start by saying we wanted to LOVE this place, but it didn't happen. The plants were lovely but the service was nonexistent. My family and I went to the nursery today for the first time. We are brand new to a Irving and I was ready to spend a good amount of money to add houseplants to our new place. My family and I walked through the interior store twice. We also walked around outside and looked at all the lovely plants for at least 10 minutes. Unfortunately we were never greeted or approached by a worker of the nursery. We only saw a potential worker at the nursery when we were walking out. I believe it was a teenage girl. She was on her cell phone and she clearly didn't want to be there. My family and I left without purchasing anything and went to Home Depot. We love to support family businesses but we do expect to receive good service wherever we go. read more

The front building was a bit messy and a let down but once you went out into the greenhouses it's overwhelming how much is out there! I absolutely love this nursery. They offer a wide variety of plants and shrubs. The staff can seem unfriendly sometimes but I suspect that's a cultural thing. I'm ok'd and white so I just ran pick up on when people are u comfortable around me. I just have that look. Sorry. Back to the point. These folks know their plants and are very capable folks. I've bought plants here for at least 20 years. They've held on through thick and thin and have survived the worst that bad markets and Covid could throw at them. Through all the tough times, they've remained competitive and have held prices down. You won't pay an arm and a leg for plants here and you'll get quality products from these fine folks. Stepping out back is more like stepping into a tropical rain forest than it is a nursery. It is incredible: trees, bushes, flowers, herbs. Some areas are covered in water, and require water shoes of some kind, or wet feet. However, this area is easy to maneuver around. The employees are extremely friendly. We needed help locating a rosemary bush and they went and grabbed it for us (I had the Mini-Pirates in tow, and it was 104 degrees out back). We also spoke to one gentleman in Spanish and in English, so these folks can communicate in several languages. We purchased Rosemary, Jasmine, Thai chilies, and some $1 flowers, and all are thriving in our yard since planting them in June. Go to this nursery with time enough to walk around and enjoy the beauty of the place. You'll enjoy your purchases as well, but the entire experience is an adventure. Tons of exotic plants and lots of Choices for yard and landscaping plants. However they didn't have any regular herbs-thyme, etc. we were able to find oregano and Thai basil. Very great prices and large quantity of healthy flowers. I wish they had more patio planting furniture, shelves etc. It was slightly hard to Find help to ask where things were and the greenhouse labels were a little confusing. I went for the houseplants. There is a pretty good selection but I wish it were bigger. There are TONS of things you can plant in an outdoor garden. It was very busy and I think the staffing is light so I didn't see anyone that worked there until I got in line to pay. Went on a Saturday and could not get into the parking lot because it was so busy and parking is very limited. From the front it looks like a small store but I knew from the number of cars lining the street waiting to get in that there must be something more to it. Came back in a weekday, jackpot! Walking through the back of the shop into the outdoor garden feels like entering Narnia through the wardrobe. This place is HUGE. The further you go, the more it unfolds and the more you'll find. If you can't find something, grab someone and ask. They may have it in one of the closed greenhouses and will offer it to you even if it is not active stock. I read a review that blasted their customer service... personally i felt every person I asked for help was super friendly, but keep in mind this nursery is massive and they are all buzzing about mixing soils and compost and actively tending to thousands of plants. The prices here are very reasonable, a fraction of Home Depot and Lowes, and the product is genuinely healthy. I purchased 3 variety of roses, many herbs, ground covers, ornamental grasses and a couple of bushes and haven't had a single one fail after transplant. With Home Depot and Lowes plants I have never had much success. They may look good but under the surface they're root bound and over fertilized. They carry a lot of herbs, veggies and fruits necessary for Asian, SE Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern cooking that you can't find at other stores. I have been back many times since my first visit and anticipate many more as I add to my garden, but you'll likely only catch me there on a weekday read more

The place looks super depressing from outside and when you first walk in that does not change. It looks like a big room filled with a lot of just one particular species of Ivy. They have a lot of fans going but no AC or open windows. The old guy behind the counter told me to wait for a lady that would give me a tour of the fruit trees. Waited about 10 minutes then the lady took me out the back door and the place was a huge lot with lots of plants and trees. I had to ask what the trees and plants were because there were no signs. She wasn't chatty but was happy to give me suggestions as to what types of trees would do well outdoors here in Dallas. Their prices seemed reasonable. I have gone to Bob Well's nursery before which I really liked, and the prices seemed comparable. Bob Wells' had dozens of peach and apple tree varieties, and a fruit salad tree (some tree that literally had all kinds of different fruits grafted into each branch), and olive trees, etc. But it's far from Dallas.. Doan's is a bit different in that they had less of the common fruit trees and more of the exotic trees and plants, (papaya, fig) and they also carried many types of vegetable leaves (water spinach, mint, chili, elephant ear?). The small trees were between $35 to $45. I got a pomegranate tree, jujube fruit tree, pink lady apple tree, pluot tree? etc. they also had plum and pear trees and many other trees that I did not ask about because it was so hot that day. There is absolutely zero shade back there and you will probably feel dizzy if it's above 90°, so I would suggest bringing an umbrella or wide-brimmed hat and a huge bottle of ice water. The lady was very nice and spoke enough English that I could communicate with her. She also helped me load everything into my truck. I came here and like it better than the other nurseries that only have decorative plants. The labeling can be better but the prices are very reasonable. Honestly, if you tell them what you want ( they're really nice to ask) or pull it up on your phone they'll let you know if they have it. You won't find better prices. Found my moms much desired garlic chives and two okra stems ( with okra on each) for $1.25 each and came back and bought a full grapefruit tree with almost right full grown grapefruits on it for like $100( of which is great price for other places for the same size tree you would pay much more). My moms very into fruit trees and this has been the best deals I've seen. Definitely should go here. It's amazing. read more

We bought a persimmons tree from them a few years ago. It has been growing very well. Whenever I called them to ask questions, they were very polite and answered all my questions. The nursery carries a good variety of fruit trees and other plants that other local nurseries may not carry. It is a great place to visit. read more

I love this place it's bigger than the other 2 individually owned ones in Irving. The people are really nice, not like the old grumpy man that owns the nursery on Shady Grove (plus your car won't get filthy from a gravel parking lot, Doan's is paved). My neighbor is a certified Master Gardener and he told me Doan's is where is got his colorful Coleus and other things in his landscaping. He said they had many colors. They really did and I was surprised that 10 and 12 inch tall ones were being sold for a dollar each! Even better if you buy a flat! They also sell Desert Roses which is rare. I always look at them and the huge one that they have on display. read more

Prices are better than Calloways or other bigger nurseries (make sure you ask if they can give you a discount). Staff speak limited English but are super friendly.
