After sharing my experience, I was contacted by a woman named Olivia who wanted to follow up with me about my experience with CalMed Hawaii. I told her I didn't know it was a national company and i was grateful for her reaching out because I thought that the woman I spoke with before (Emmaline) was one of the highest ranked employees, so I thought there was nothing else i could do about my situation. I talked about my conversation with Emmaline, Olivia was super open and patient. I also let her know that ALL of the conversations I had with the other workers all went well and the service was great all in all, just the way that Emmaline handled my situation was super unprofessional. Olivia reassured me that she had found where the fault was and took care of my situation with no hesitation. I'm so grateful to Olivia and I apologized for my part, she was so understanding and reassuring. i just wanted to give her a big hug because after knowing it's a bigger company and knowing the woman I spoke with previously wasn't at the top of it all, made me feel much better about the company because I know that the company is in better hands than what I dealt with. When we asked about an adaptor for my pump to bottles, they didn't have what we needed but they gave us a couple adaptors for free just to try. They have signs "overly" with arrows so you shouldn't get lost finding their office. I came there and it was just me. In and out in less than 10minutes. They also have the latest style pump. What a wonderful group of women that work at CalMed Hawaii. I am on vacation and use a cpap device, lo and behold I arrive here in Hawaii and somehow lost a part to my mask. For any of you who use a cpap machine and rely on its ability to provide useful sleep, you know it's a recipe for disaster. The first night was horrible, I tried to use it all taped up and no go!! Enter the wonderful staff at CalMed. I called first and was going to purchase a new mask and headset, when I told them what I was missing and all I needed was the elbow valve part, they said "Oh is that all you need? We have an extra one here" So I offered to pay and they said no it's ok. I thanked them from the bottom of my heart and I realized that beautiful people live on this Island and so I will sleep tonight knowing that there are caring people here in Honolulu. I found out about CalMed at the baby expo last year. They are very helpful and reply back to you really quickly. Since I was at the baby expo I just filled out the form with my insurance and what type of pump I wanted and they did the rest. They called my ObGyn and got the prescription. They contacted my insurance and got everything squared away. I received the Madela breast pump mailed to me a good 2 months before I gave birth! They did inform me that the pump (madela pump in style with tote bag) I wanted was not completely covered by my insurance and that it would be $25 extra, but I say hey $25 is way better than to have to buy it for $300 at babies r us. Expecting moms need to know about this. A lot of times they're not told how to obtain the breast pumps covered by insurance, and CalMed just streamlined everything and made everything stress free. The last thing an expectant mom needs is to be scrambling to get a breast pump right before giving birth or after giving birth. read more

All pregnant women should know about this place. Emma and Andrea were so helpful and genuinely nice both on the phone and in person. In addition to pumps, they have quality maternity belts which you can buy for retail price if not covered or reimbursed by your insurance. Tell me why it is so hard to buy one on island? Not many options at target and whenever you Yelp or google maternity, it's just a bunch of maternity photographers. I needed a belt fast because my online purchase from motherhood maternity which initially was supposed to be shipped in 5 days, instead is taking 30 days. And to be honest, I'm tired of being from Amazon when I'd rather support local. When I called, Andrea answered all my questions about pumps and belts, and when I got there Emma was so polite. She let me try on 3 different belts and encouraged me to fit them on in the restroom in case I needed privacy. Using my HMSA HMO, Initially Andrea thought I'd have to pay retail price because I still had a substatial deductible, but Emma says I can likely request a reimbursement from HMSA, which I'll try. Even if don't get reimbursed I'm pretty happy, because paying $40 is better than 5 more months of chronic baby bump back pain. Emma also told me that a lot of women, including those with quest can get a maternity belt covered so long as their doc fills out the CalMed form and faxes it over. She will drop off the belt (and pump if you got one) to your house! Wait that's not all... this place has lactation support that they hold via zoom! So if women are having difficulty postpartum they can sign up! Wow, wish that more women knew about this gem of a place. I will definitely spread the word. read more

So fast and friendly! I submitted my form for a breast pump through my insurance on their website and received an e-mail the same day to call in to confirm my information. I was stuck in meetings all day so couldn't call back before they closed but someone from Cal-Med called 2 days later! They scheduled a delivery time for that week and Anthony dropped it off with me. I had a GREAT experience with Cal-Med! I would recommend anyone getting their breast pump to get from them because it was so easy and fast! I initially was going to have my OB's office order my breast pump, since that seemed to be the easier route.. but I found out that the Long's pharmacy they usually order from and actually pretty ALL except one all the way in Hawaii kai had their breast pumps on backorder, and that Longs was "having trouble" ordering some (no idea what that even means!). Researching the best place to get a pump was stressful because I'm a first time mom and even target's program is terrible (limited pump options, have to call mainland etc... wouldn't recommend). My coworkers all recommended CalMed Hawaii, so I went online and filed a claim. The only reason for -1 star is that I think their website/claim form should be updated.. filing a claim was easy but after submitting I was confused with what the next step was because there was no option to select the desired pump! No where on the site says the steps or what to expect, just takes you straight to the form for breast pump purchase through insurance. I called them and the employee was really helpful and thorough on letting me know that tomorrow I'd get a call back from them after my insurance was verified. I was disappointed to not get a phone call the next day and was dismayed since some reviews said they take awhile but the following day I did! I was able to pick up the spectra S1 (has a battery pack.. no where else Had this model, all else have the s2 which has to be plugged in) the same day! (I live in Aiea and they are located in halawa, so it was very convenient.. you can also opt to have it shipped to your home). I was also told that they do supply extra parts Incase i need any since that particular model most extra parts are only online. Without a doubt, best selection of low compression socks. I run and forgot to pack my prescription socks so I needed some I could buy without a prescription (didn't have the Rx with me). My OB referred me to this place to get a maternity support belt when I was about 4 months because my previous pregnancy I've always had strong pelvic pains and really intense back pains, basically my baby would find and sit on my sciatic nerve which made my pains worse. I've had the worst experience ordering from this place, I went on almost 3 months trying to order something from them, nobody keeps in touch with you, the manager lied saying i'll give you a call back and they NEVER DO!! They have all the excuses, then I got told it was shipped called a week later spoke with a different person and he said "I don't see anything that was shipped" and suggested to call me back and what a surprise NOBODY called smh I had to call myself to make sure they got my order, waited for long periods of time. Not once someone called me from there and every time I called they would make an excuse as to why my order didn't get shipped smh I don't recommend this place to no one! I didnt know about this place until called HMSA and they recommened Cal-med for the covered breast pump. Very easy process- visit website, do research for breast pump, full-out online form and wait for Cal-med specialist to confirm your order for pick-up. I believe more people need to know about them because it was a very easy process and my wife is very satisfied with her NEW breast pump that was ($0) covered by our insurance. I spoke to a "supervisor" named Emmaline at this location. I had a prescription to rent a breast pump. No one advised to me that you need to pay for the tubing adapters with the membrane caps in order to use the hospital grade breast pump. They even didn't have enough drivers to delivery the pump to me. Being an understanding person I went to pick up the breast pump just to not have the tubing to operate the pump. I figured it could of been easily resolve, but no Emmaline got very disrespectful with me wouldn't even listen to what my issue was. Before that, instead of double checking her sources to make sure she got my paperwork before giving me the breast pump, she left me a snappy voicemail about not receiving it , instead checking first before having me drive to pick it up. Also she kept saying I have to buy a pumping kit when I shouldn't have to buy the pumping kit to have the tubing to have the suction work. I never heard of that in my life. If I did have to buy a pumping kit to do that, why wasn't I advised of that when I called inquiring about renting the breast pump. Honestly if you are a new mom or any moms do not rent from this company. The service sounds cool but you will deal with people who can not act professionally and talk to you like you owe them something. Its already a lot having a baby, save yourself the trouble and rent from Janz if you need to rent a breast pump. CalMed was recommended by my OB-Gyn to order my breast pump. All I had to do is to complete their breast pump claim form on their website, called them a week after, they had me choose which breast pump I wanted and they'll ship it for free. The only issue I had was after you submitted the form, I didn't get any confirmation that they got my form or if I was even qualified or not. So when I called them, the lady said "normally" someone will call you 2-3days after you submitted the form to confirm all the details, which never happened in my case, but hey you can always call and ask. They were very nice over the phone and I didn't have to wait long to get assistance too. So now I'm just waiting for my FREE breast pump. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wanted to avail of the breast pump, but of course it still depends on your medical insurance if they cover it 100%. FYI, I tried ordering thru local pharmacies (Walgreens and Longs) before I tried CalMed, and said there were back orders and may have to wait 3-4weeks. Walgreens also wanted me to drop by before 4pm so they can check my insurance coverage and what not, but I work til 8pm so that aint happening. (seriously????!) This company claims they are all about customer service, however, my experience with them thus far has been terrible. I have spoken to representatives on the phone on 2 different occasions trying to get ahold of a certain product they carry. They told me the fastest and easiest way would be to submit a claim online through their website, which I did. I waited one week and when I didnt hear from them, I inquired. I was told they didnt receive my claim and to resubmit it. This is concerning because where did my private information go? I was then told that they would be in contact with me within 3 days, and again, its been over a week. I was hesitant to write this review because of the holidays and I know offices are closed, but I have accounted for those days. This has also made everything so much more stressful for me. Their website even states they will be in contact with you within 3 days, and they even give a number to call if you dont receive great customet care. I havent called that number yet, but I am thinking I will soon. I really need this product, and it's been pretty hard to find elsewhere. I feel like they are just giving me the runaround, and I am wondering if I should start looking somewhere else since I know it will take me awhile to find somewhere else that carries it. I will update this review when I actually hear back from someone or get some closure regarding the sensitive personal information I sent in my claim. Super easy company to deal with. All you do is fill the form online for breast pump and they will call you to confirm and ask which option you want. They usually will call a few days or maybe a week after you fill the form so be patient. I missed their call but was easily able to call back. They shipped really fast. I called on Friday afternoon (close to closing) it came in next week Tuesday. They take care of everything. I was also surprised I got extras. Besides my pump and parts, I got extra bottles compatible to the pump, a pump bag, and cooler bag. Awesome! read more

I was having issues at other pharmacies trying to get my insurance-covered breast pump. A friend of mine told me to reach out to Calmed Hawaii, which is where she got her pump after experiencing similar issues. I filled out their online inquiry one evening, was contacted the next day, although I was working so I missed the call. I called back the following business day, which was after the weekend, and they had already contacted my insurance company, verified some information with me, and gave me 3 pump options. It went very smooth and fast, considering one of the pharmacies I went to took over a week to get back to me to tell me it was declined. They gave me the option of getting it mailed to me, or picking it up. Definitely recommend other expecting mom's to go through them for your breast pump. read more

It was really disappointing to know that Target doesn't give our breast pumps that are covered by insurance anymore. With that being said, I had to call around to see which pharmacy will. It was such a hassle because they either didn't do that or they didn't have any in stalk. So I had to google places that do. & Cal-Med was one of the options. So I contacted them, within a day or two I got an email back saying they couldn't do it because something went wrong with my insurance. I have HMSA Quest. So I called my insurance, they told me that I have another primary insurance.. Anyways, long story short, I called Cal-Med back, talked to Bridgette who was very nice & she said she would call my insurance back & try to get things figured out. Within half an hour she calls me back, gave me the OKAY! She got everything situated. I was already in the hospital, I just had given birth the day before. Bridgette asked me what hospital I was at (Queens) & she would have it delivered to my room within 5 hours.
