My moms dr faxed an RX to Pacific Island Medical (PIM) back in May and PIM claims they never received it. PIM is not a store so don't expect enter one. It's a warehouse with an office upstairs and you are not able to enter the building at all. I would highly recommend you calling PIM to make arrangements for pickup and payment so that will make your wait shorter. Whatever happened to me today was not at all funny. First off, they told me my item was mailed. I said how can you mail my item when I was told that it has to be paid before it ships? ‍ after much digging, they told me it was the wrong order. Then they couldn't find my paperwork. Whatever the problem was, it took long. And they couldn't tell me what the problem was but leave me waiting outside in the heat. So I drove off with my dog to grab done lunch . When I returned (it wasn't more than 10 mins). I was standing outside again being ignored. So, I acknowledged the worker and said hey, where's my order? So he starts looking for it again. And goes up to the office and doesn't return. Long story short, I ended up getting my money back. This place has absolutely poor customer service. I'm not sure what goes on in the office upstairs, but I'm not giving this company my business! Go shop Amazon!

I ended up running late because of a rain storm that slowed traffic coming from the Pali. When I arrived there the parking lot had many parking spaces. I found a good spot, parked then I walked right in. The cashier and registration desk is easy to find in the center of everything. I was immediately greeted upon entering. The line was short and moved quickly. Although I was a little late they checked me in and the Doctor was able to see me a few minutes after I arrived. Dr. Onizuka was friendly and took his time allowing me to ask questions and do a thorough exam. The girls at the front desk were pleasant and had that spirit of aloha. The facility was clean and the noise was appropriate for a doctors office. Overall I had an excellent experience. I will make more of my appointments here in the future.

I called early in the morning and they were able to schedule me to come in at 3:30pm on the same day! For the procedure I was really anxious at first, because I am not very good with needles, but he was very understanding and patient! He told me to relax and not to worry! We then proceeded to the procedure, which only took 30 minutes and it was super painless! In the end they gave me a sheet on how to take care of my toe! Also, after a week of care you have to do a follow up by either video chatting or coming in person to see how the toe is doing! Overall, I would recommend coming here, staff is really sweet and doctors are super nice too! I live 30 minutes away from the clinic, but it was worth the drive!

Many stayed because they like the Hawaii lifestyle but they know nothing about Aloha. I will never go back there again unless I am unconscious. I don't like hospitals and get anxious when I have to go, and they were so rude to me they turned it into a full blown panic attack. I tried to leave and they physically restrained me after I said these words "You do not have permission to touch my body." They violated my space in a big way, and that is illegal. You don't have a right to hold a patient down who does not want to be touched. I was already out the door at that point. You're lucky you didn't get sued. Then when I was sitting on a bench waiting for my husband, and meditating to calm myself down, they threatened to call security and HPD to remove me. I'm thinking go ahead, maybe they will give me a ride. Then they did send a humongous security guard who told me I was trespassing on private property and had to leave right that moment. WTF? I'm a little old lady who didn't want to be manhandled either. He was my son's age and was polite and just doing the job they told him to do. I don't blame him. It was those nurses that caused the whole incident from beginning to end. None of them could seem to realize that all I was ever trying to do was leave peacefully. I was in the ER for a reason. Did they expect me to walk home? This was all kinds of wrong. Castle has gone way downhill. P.S. There were witnesses.

I'm a retired doc and used to work Urgent Care (we called it urgent scare;) moon lighting...this clinic does NOT give any real treatment, can't read x rays, and labs/xrays are through Castle hospital and then they will call w/results DAYS later? So--ON SITE-there is nothing for URGENT care, NO DOC, only a P.A. or NP. So no complex suturing, (sign says simple lacerations but I don't think they suture), no reading X-rays etc. The Castle facility across the hall does the X-rays but no one there can READ them in the Urgent Care clinic? Unbelievable. I read my own and had a shattered big toe, comminuted=pieces. When they finally called a few DAYS later he said I broke my toe; FORGOT to say 'comminuted', as that is not just a BREAK--that is shattered into several pieces and many times needs pining/surgery to fix. The Radiologist DID say 'comminuted, slightly displaced' but whomever called me NEVER mentioned the MOST important part of that X-ray result! No mention at all! OMG! If I had not read it myself when it was taken (the Castle tech is EXCELLENT at reading but can't say anything 'officially';), and believed it was just a simple break where you 'buddy tape' to the next toe? That could have been VERY BAD. They also do not do referrals? What? So if they have ...let's say, a knee injury or back injury they treat acutely...needing ortho eval...they will not refer? That is highly unusual and I have never heard of an urgent care center that does not refer, does not have any lab results on site, and the staff cannot read a simple X-ray--as no docs! So, they can only do whatever is EASY, non URGENT --very unusual, and useless for ANY injuries. At least in an ER, you may wait, but you will know something is fractured then, x rays READ, (and also officially thru the radiologist later), treated, and also be referred if needed. I'd NOT go here unless it is something really simple, covid tests etc. until they are staffed properly! YES! The staff is nice, so got 5 stars but LACK of treatment ability is ZERO stars=3 stars...sorry! Any UC Clinic usually does urgent cases, sutures, reads xrays, does basic labs on site etc. An UC clinic w/o any docs, can't truly DO anything urgent! As I said, VERY unusual. And, NICE staff. It's not their fault that it is not staffed fully! aloha

She has my huge thanks for being so kind and helpful, addressing all my concerns, and helping me in so many ways. Over the past 2 years, thanks to her expertise as a physical therapist, we increased my endurace for walking with 2 canes from 5 minutes to 25 minutes. I was determined to visit the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN, in June 2026, to celebrate all the progreess I have made to regain my mobility, and to celebrate my 79th birthday. I succeeded in all my wishes when my husband and I visited Nashville this past June. I was able to walk for 30 minutes using 2 canes. I stopped as needed, and rested holding onto the canes, but I did not sit down, as we walked from parking facilities to visit a variety of places in Nashville. Iris Castro's enthusiasm as I leaned to increase my walking endurance and overall confidence in my mobility, without depending on using a walker, has meant so much to me. Gale Warshawsky

This review is for my experience with the Family Birth Center and the postpartum recovery center…read moreafterwards. The doctors, nurses, CNA's and other staff helped make my birth experience go as smoothly as possible. They were all professional, compassionate, and gave me 5-star worthy care. My favorite part was our celebratory meal we got to enjoy on the second night of our stay. I was fortunate enough to be on my way home after only 2 nights. The reason for deducting 1 star is because my discharge experience could've gone better. We went from 2 blissful days of feeling taken care of and pampered, to feeling like we were being rushed to move out. An older Asian lady (not sure what her role is at Kapiolani but I know she definitely wasn't a nurse) came into our room and started basically telling us it's time to get ready to go. She asked my husband where our car seat was. We explained to her, per the instructions from our RN that was last taking care of us, we were waiting for the pharmacy to call to let us know my prescription was ready, then my husband will grab the car seat on the way to the pharmacy. Then we would have someone from their staff ensure that we buckled baby in correctly, and then proceed with discharge. This lady started yapping and bossing my husband around, telling him to bring the car around up front and we'll all walk out together. She then proceeded to call the pharmacy to basically tell them to hurry up and fill my prescription. Her presence caused me unnecessary stress. We felt like we were being hurried to clear out the room. On top of that, I was not offered a wheelchair to our car. I had to walk, 2 days postpartum, freshly stitched up and sore, to our car parked in front at guest drop off. Despite this experience I'm not letting it overshadow my overall experience at Kapiolani. The nurses were so sweet and supportive and made me feel like a rock star first time mom after I gave birth to my daughter in just 11 hours. I left feedback for kapiolani and I do hope they take steps to improve their discharge process for future patients.

The Center had its origin thanks to its namesake, Queen Kapiolani, who started a maternity home in 1890. Kapiolani had no children of her own, but left a legacy of devotion to education and health care for women and children. The Center is comprised of a hospital with emergency room capabilities. A clinic with full time physician oversight also operates at the center. The staff at Kapiolani Medical Center is aloha friendly. My daughter had her baby at Kapiolani, where she received good prenatal and delivery care. The Center is currently fundraising to raise money to support growth. I attended parts of the fundraiser, which was a heart warming experience. The facilities are a mishmash of architectural styles mostly from the 1980's. There is modest colorful art throughout the complex. The dining room on the second floor hosts a decent cafeteria and a Starbucks. The hospital is immaculate inside. The hospital is also a teaching hospital in partnership with the medical school at the University of Hawaii. Today, I also had lunch in the Kobayashi & Kosasa Dining Room. A big bowl of soup was only $4! I had broccoli cheese soup, which was healthier than your average soup, made with noticeably less salt. I loved my soup. The cafeteria offers an interesting menu of Hawaiian traditional meals, craft pizzas, salads and more. They offer valet parking, because finding your own parking is near impossible. There is a parking garage somewhere on site, but I'm not sure where.
