We recently had a refrigerator defrost control "commit suicide"! As you know, there's nothing like coming home from work anticipating a "cold one" to discover a "warm one" is there to top your day. We contacted the home warranty company who referred us to Sears. The earliest available appointment was 10 days out so we were granted authorization to contact a local company. We contacted Cal's as we have heard good things and I purchased some stove replacement knobs there years ago. Cal's contacted us and offered to come out the same day but our work schedules would not permit myself or wife to be available. It happened to be a Friday and we were leaving out of town Saturday. We were then given the option to have someone come out on Saturday should the emergency on-call technician be dispatched. We settled on the following Monday (8/3/15) and as scheduled, Charles called to let us know he was on his way and arrived within our appointment window. His professionalism was mmediate as he greeted us, identified himself and told us, "I am here to solve your refrigerator issue"! We expect that a technician will have an un-tucked shirt, a few grease stains, and dripping sweat but this was definitely not the case. Charles looked the part of a true professional with pride. He delivered on that professionalism quickly diagnosing the issue. He used towels to ensure he minimized any water or debris. He ordered the part onsite and serviced the refrigerator so that we could save the food while awaiting delivery of the part and repair. He returned two days later again within our appointment window (that we requested) and as sharp as the first time. He installed the part and we were in business again! Not only did he save us the expense of repurchasing food, he gave us both a tutorial on some of the features of the refrigerator we had not discovered and suggested ways to get the most "life" out of the appliance. It's great to have such a professional appliance service here in Niceville. Your company will certainly get repeat customers and new ones. Had I waited on Sears, our refrigerator may have become hotter than Tisa's Pizzeria! Joking aside, you are a true team of professionals! read more

This review is for Charles and James of Cal's Appliance Repair, llc. I believe James responded to a maintenance request from my landlord about our refrigerator leaking and Charles was sent to repair the issue. I wanted to include James in this review because I'm thankful for the accuracy of the time i was given by James and the fact that he sent Charles to repair our issue lol. Charles went above and beyond to fix the problem as well as make sure there were no other issues. He walked me through every step and gave advice on what I can do to prevent further problems from occurring. After Charles was done, he offered to help me put my items back in the fridge, but of course, I declined because he already did enough (mentioned below). But he did, thoughtfully, clean the area that was leaking and the very little mess that was made in the process of the repairing. Aside from that, while Charles was fixing our refrigerator, he noticed that an error code was displaying on our washing machine and he did not hesitate one bit to offer assistance in resolving that issue too... FOR FREE! I didn't even have to ask for help, he literally and voluntarily jumped to the task of discovering the problem, which only took 2mins of his time, and fixing that as well. For someone who has been living in this area and renting, I've came across a lot of maintenance companies and they haven't shown as much professionalism as the workers at Cal's Appliance Repair. I just got my refund check from my home warranty company thanks to Cal's. The control panel on my dishwasher stoped working. I call my home warranty company and they sent an incompetent repairman. I complained, and they sent me a second incompetent repairman. They then allowed me to select my own repairman and they would reimburse me. I called Cal's. They sent Mel, a competent repairman that quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and setup an appointment for installing it based on when the part was due in. With in the week the dishwasher was fixed. The warranty company did however, require Cal's to call in the cost of the repairs. I contacted Ben, a Cal's employee, and explained the situation. He called the warranty company and after an hour on hold gave up and called me back explaining the problem. I called the warrant company, and after half an hour on hold got through to a representative. He had me do a three-way call with Ben. After Ben answered the representative transferred us to another office where Ben and I spent about 45 minutes on hold. Ben stayed on the phone with me until the representative answer and then Ben answered all the warranty company's questions about the repair and price. The repair was authorized. Cal's Appliances genuinely represents the lost art of true customer service. Ethically committed to each service call, I was grateful for their prompt appointment times, as well as the professionalism granted by the second generation owner. It's a rarity to find a family business in which a longstanding respect for all customers seem to reflect the true symbiotic relationship between business and clientele'. The owner, gracefully shared with me anecdotes regarding his children and wife, and listened to my jokes flawlessly. I felt at ease with with his natural repartee' , as he quickly installed the pre-ordered parts. With eight children and adoring wife he shared daily minutia setting me at ease. He was able to concede to an extra task that I requested ; ( the extraction of a broken door knob , complimentary of my Spectrum Son , and consequent tips as to how to replace it). I'm so thankful that Andrew Tidwell at Sound Choice Realty has Cal's under contract for our rental home. It is always a blessing to welcome honest people inside one's home. I've now used Cal's since 2004 because they're honest. After using a couple of repair companies from the nearest large town, I learned some hard lessons. I was told that my washing machine tub needed replacing - it didn't. After the tub was replaced, it continued to leak, and the company wanted more money. I paid two different companies to repair my ice maker, but it still was broken. In both cases, Cal repaired both on the first call. What I really like about Cal's is their level of experience. I've never known them to be unable to diagnose and repair immediately. They carry a large stock of parts and have quick access to many more. I have them PM all of my appliances yearly so I don't have issues during the rental season. It's been wonderful. Recently, Charles arrived at 6:30 p.m. Despite the fact I told him he could postpone until the following day, he insisted on getting the job done that day. My dryer stopped working and after calling Cal's they sent someone out within two days. I was told upfront what the service call would cost and what time the service technician would be out. Caleb sent me a text letting me know he was on his way and when he arrived he was very courteous and professional and had the problem diagnosed within minutes and had the parts needed to fix my dryer. Charles from Cal's Appliance Repair came out to repair our Ice Maker and Water dispenser at our home in Niceville. He was professional, friendly, and fast... Probably the best part of the service was how he was teaching his young home schooled assistant Matthew the trade of appliance repair. Matthew was a very professional young man and nice to talk with. Charles had to order a part and came back a few days later to complete the repair. Charles and Matthew were out this morning to fix our squeaky dryer for us. We figured it would need new rollers but weren't sure what else was going on, they were both so knowledgeable and made sure we were updated while they were looking at it. We had a refrigerator frost situation. I called Cals, He set an appointment for next day and was on time. The service technician was excellent. Diagnosed the problem and made the repair. The technician was professional, in a uniform, well informed and extremely knowledgeable with current technology. I will definitely be calling Cals back for any appliance repair. This is the third time I have used them in the past 12 years. The first two times I bought an appliance from them , which were Fantastic!!! My used washer worked for 10 years and only needed fixing once . The other appliance I left in my last rental so I'm not sure of the status . My dryer suddenly stopped working and 2 friends recommended Cal's to come take a look. After a thorough inspection the day after I called, Charles found that the control panel needed to be replaced. He ordered it after walking me through the costs and other options. Today he and Matthew came and replaced the panel, as well as cleaned out 10 years of built up lint, and then checked my duct for any blockages. I have used cals appliance multiple times for different things, they are great! Friendly, competent and not out to gouge you for money. They also are very quick to respond. Example of one of my issues: My washer wouldn't work and called cals appliance. Apparently my child's sock was stuck in the hose, they tried and couldn't get it out and I was going to have to buy a new hose but they kept trying and trying and finally got it out so only had to pay for the service call. read more
