My experience with the administrator, Rose was less than desirable. I have recently become a volunteer for Find A Grave fulfilling requests for headstone pictures. I introduced myself and explained why I was there. I must have interrupted her snack time, because during the short time that I was there, she never stopped eating her popcorn. She asked me if I had emailed her, because she didn't have the time to give me the information as to where the half a dozen graves were that I came to photograph. I had not emailed her. This was my first contact with her and as the saying goes, you can't undo a first impression. Rose expressed how much she doesn't like Find A Grave, and how she doesn't have time for my requests, she's the Administrator. She did begrudgingly look up two for me. I have been to three other cemeteries in NWI. Not one of them made me feel as if I was interrupting their day. read more

My grandson's headstone is located where your flag pole sit in the rear of the cemetery. The ground in that area and also around other headstones are infested by moles. There's a large mole hole in front of my grandson's headstone. There's also several other mole holes all around in that area. The ground is extremely soft where the moles burrow through and it could be a major fall risk if somebody steps in them and twist their ankle. My daughter attempted to solve this problem in a civil manner with Rose, but that didn't go well. Rose caused us some major issues in June 2025 when we had to go to someone above her head to get my grandson properly buried.. Your groundskeepers need to improve and do a better job at maintaining the cemetery. There are several to prevent the more investigation. Please are supposed to be a beautiful and peaceful place to visit and all I see around my grandson's headstone is dirt piling up and Burroughs were the mobiles are destroying everything. If I could rate this place a zero I would, this company is for profit only. They clearly do not care for your deceased loved one and act as if they really are passionate, don't be fooled you are another dollar rather than family. The grass is no longer like a place to pay your respects, the headstones are either covered with mud or grass that has overgrown the monuments. Absolutely devastating for the love ones and our veterans. Their office staff has a high turnover, I received an unexpected check after speaking with an employee at the Portage location it was clearly verified it was okay to cash. Only to find out it was issued in error and intended for a family member. Upon questioning this with the "vice president" his answer was if the check was issued to you in error you can send the money back to the location and we can issue a check to Betty. If sent in error, this was verified before the check was cashed, and definitely an error on their behalf. read more

Since 2015 I have had my 5 yr old daughters favorite toys sitting at her tombstone. I have token care of weeds and anything that gotten bad even fake flowers. This place never done it. They are telling me I have to remove all of her things by the end of Halloween night. My heart is shattered cause my daughter loved all those things. read more

I've written reviews recently about Calvary and I now have to ask everyone to give them a chance. I've learned a lot recently. I live out of state and could not just stop in. I relied on information provided over the phone. I've decided the previous owners left the new owners a mess. As of this week, my family's stones have been found and it ends up my mother's stone HAS been engraved. Please give this new management an opportunity To get things straightened out. They DO have a heart and are trying to make everything right. read more

So after 3-4 months of miscommunication, we were able to bury our beloved family member yesterday. We had plans since 6/30/23 for a cremation burial and because of the holiday weekend and Others who passed away recently was taken care and the woman Donnia "forgot" to add our family burial yesterday to their appointment book. Not only did she messed up on that, She offered for a spray flowers as a way to apologize for their mistake. I went to see the grave and they hadn't compensated for the Mistake they made. Ever since the new owners took over, they have done nothing , but caused the deceased family members more heartache. So glad, I'm not being buried and if I was, it won't be there. I hope nobody else has to go through the same pain we have in the past 4 months. read more

After reading some of the reviews on here, I see that many people are having the same types of issues and problems that I am. My mother was buried here in May of 2022. Her headstone STILL has not been engraved. I have been told many different excuses, and each time I speak to someone, I am given another B.S reason, and told it will be done next month, or in two months. 19 months later, still nothing. At this point I feel as though a refund or at least partial refund is due to me, as well as an apology. However, after a quick visit to the Porter County courts today, I believe that a breach of contact lawsuit is my only option left. read more

I purchased a prepaid plot there and have a heck of a time getting them to deposit my monthly auto payment. I have to call nearly every month when I don't see the check clear after a couple weeks. The corp ofc calls and complains I am late on payment, but it is sitting in the office. The gal who answers the phone says she doesn't receive it and then will 'find' it after I complain. There is some type of admin issues there. They also 'forgot' to order my mom's fully paid for headstone for a year after burial even after checking in quarterly on status. Finally was told an error was made and it wasn't ordered. So they lied about it for a year. They say it is ordered now - not really sure. read more

Since my initial review, Calvary found one of my relatives stones buried on the plot. This after claiming "there never were any stones." Aunt Rose and Uncle Nick's stones are still missing and Calvary is not being helpful. read more

My Mother's ashes are interred at Calvary. We wanted to inter my Fathers there as well. However, the powers that be at Calvary want to charge us a vault fee to bury an urn. The manager Stephanie Coulter was rude and sticks to company policy so I got in touch with the VP Tiffany Gleeson who also sticks to policy despite the fact that I have my Mother's paperwork showing that there was not a vault fee for my Mother which is the exact same urn. All the way from the rude person in the office, Roland to the VP these people prey on families that just want their loved ones buried. Please do not use this facility and their rude and uncompassionate company who by the way, Ms. Gleeson's exact words to me were. There was a mistake made 3 years ago and I assure you that same mistake will not be made again. The home office will also not answer my calls anymore. Did I get upset and yell? You bet! read more

Calvary has nice grounds. However, the lawn crew that trims has killed more than one plant at my mothers grave. And purchase monument /headstone elsewhere since these folks charge 3x what independent monument businesses do. When I brought it to their attention, they said "we'll price match" but didn't say that when we were there looking initially....hmmmm. Gouging folks when they're grieving... nice. This hasn't been a family owned cemetery in several years, so they aren't as customer friendly as they once were. Too bad. read more
