In the process we found out two other family members had problems with their headstones sinking over time. Cutler arranged to have the headstone lifted and stabilized. The other was over one hundred years old and had cracked in half. Dale again assisted us to replace the headstone with a new one. Cutler took excellent care of us every step of the process. Updating us with photos and timelines. I can't tell you how relieved I was that my 82 year old mother did not have to travel back to Indiana during Covid to take care of this! They were very kind , welcoming to all of my family with all of the arrangements ! Went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied from the viewing to the burial at the Chesterton Cemetery . Three years later when my mother passed away , we were welcomed with open arms . They were very compassionate ,warm, welcoming and very organized with everything that met our needs! AVOID WHITE-LOVE! Funeral Director Should Consider a Change in Careers…read more My fiance passed away this Spring and his family chose White-Love Funeral Home. I was too devastated to care where or what was happening... and I had attended funerals are White-Love when I was a kid in the 90s and remembered it being quaint and homey. Unfortunately, literally nothing has changed or been updated, including the carpet, gross folding sliding dividers, bathrooms, and resting area for the family. I was taken aback when I first walked in that nothing had changed since I was a kid. I made my way to the TV to plug in my computer for a slideshow. I was having trouble with getting the correct input and asked for help. Unfortunately, the staff member was fairly useless but I figured it out on my own. Towards the end of the night, I heard comments about the bathrooms being gross, not stocked, staff members eating with the door open, and other unprofessional mishaps. But I survived it. The next day we had a private funeral, there was no lining up of the cars, and the service had begun before I even arrived. I was so heartbroken. When it was time to pay our bill ($13,000), my mother called several times to see when the funeral director would be in, each time she was not there. My mother left a message with a very kind and considerate employee who offered her apologies and said that she would forward our concerns to the director. Later that afternoon we got a call that the director was in, so my mother accompanied me to the funeral home. When we arrived Donna Love acted as if she had no idea about our concerns at first, became extremely defensive and rude, coming up with excuses right and left, even blaming my fiance's father for some of her shortcomings. Not once did she apologize or offer an ounce of sympathy. We left without paying that day and she proceeded to hound my fiance's father with phone calls saying that she needed to be paid and that we were so rude to her. She never called to apologize to us for her behavior and the poor state of the facility. We had to contact her and force an apology before we paid her. One of the worst experiences of my life. Please do yourself a favor and choose an alternative option for your loved ones who have passed. Donna Love is in the WRONG business.
