I hadn't been to this water park in many years and had heard that it had undergone a change in ownership and there were some updates that longtime regulars weren't thrilled with, like not allowing outside food and beverage in. Upon entry, we had a brief security check and then got our tickets and got in quickly. We had our own water bottles and some snacks and no one batted an eye...so it didn't seem to be that big of a deal for outside items. The park was bustling on a busy Friday but lines seemed to move along well enough. We stuck to the kiddie areas with our toddler and those were even less busy. In general the park was largely familiar to me as someone who had been to the park numerous times as a kid which was both nostalgic but also a sign of the parks age. I didn't see any attractions that were closed which is always a positive. We found as the day went on and the park filled that we were still able to enjoy many of the attractions which was nice. The wave pool got a bit busier than I would've normally enjoyed but the kiddo was having fun so that's what mattered. Food and drinks were reasonable though wait times for them was way too long. Lunch took me almost 20 minutes to receive once my order was placed. Overall we had fun but wouldn't rush back.

It's run by a couple and they have been owning it and running it by themselves for years. One of my favorite features of this movie theater is they sell all of the movie posters that they get from the production companies. I have several that I got for six dollars each from Marvel Studios. They decorate this one hallway as well with dozens upon dozens of vintage cameras. I could spend hours just staring at them. Please make this part of your next visit. Even if you don't see a movie to step in and enjoy the shock and awe.

Old-timey movie theater with the original cameras and new posters lining the walls, it is such a great way to see a movie. They have all new showings that you can currently find in an AMC and show some movies with open-captions or 3D (check their website to see the times/type of movie). The staff is super friendly and they have lots of drinks, snacks, popcorn, and candy to choose from - they even offer popcorn to go if you're craving it! I absolutely love coming here and you should definitely plan to stop here on your trip/visit. They also sell large movie posters for $6 which is a STEAL and have so many films to choose from - I will definitely be back to grab some posters.

We rounded up our adult children and made them come with us to check out the park. To be honest, this amusement park is far from it's prime. I'm sure back in the day when it first opened, it probably was so much more exciting and fun. The amusement park looks really run down. Some of the game stands were looking pretty sad. There were a lot of arcade type spots, some were nice and some needed some tlc. There were a few of the rides that were open and operating. Some were still down. The roller-coaster gives you some butterflies while riding it but it's still very tiny. It's about 8 bucks for a very fast ride. So, you're really paying for the core memory of the ride and not the ride itself. I can see this joint being fun for kids and teens. They don't know any better. The bright lights and arcade games is exciting for them. For my older kids who are in their early 20's, we were able to distract them with a few games for some tickets but the interest didn't last long. For a smaller amusement park, it does it's job. It would be a fun date night just to walk the beach, share a fry bread and ride the roller coaster. I'm happy I got to check it out with my little family tonight. Several games in the arcade are not working correctly, the staff knows it, but they are super friendly in spite of that. But the real reason to come to this amusement park is.... FASCINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sylvan Beach is one of only five or six amusement parks left in the United States that still offer this PERFECT game which combines bingo, roll-a-ball derby, and skee-ball. Go watch a Youtube video or two on Fascination Bingo and you'll be as hooked as I am. Be the first to light up five slots in a row on your grid and win redemption tickets and bragging rights! They offer bonus tickets if you light a harder line (like the center row or the back row), or if you get a double or even triple bingo. There's room for 40 players, but half of the lanes don't work as these were constructed back in the early 1900s and are close to 100 years old - so if you don't snag a lane, watch a few rounds and jump onto one when someone gets up! 50 cents per game, can you beat the price? No, you can't. The two young ladies who operate the Fascination parlor are sassy and sweet, engaging to all guests young and old, roast you beautifully if your ball gets stuck, and genuinely love their job. Bring hydration to the Fascination Parlor - there is no air conditioning and you'll be jumping and celebrating your wins - it's a hot-yoga-esque workout! The beer is very expensive and they poured it into what looked like a five or 6 ounce cup and it was nine dollars. You could get the same size wine for the same price or you can get a can of various flavored ciders. It didn't really make any sense and it was insanely expensive for the beer and that is my only negative feedback. Why couldn't we just get a can of beer? Otherwise we had a great time and we had fun being big kids.

The young lady working it yelled at my kids "only one at time" in such a rude manner it made my daughter cry and want to leave ASAP. No one told us that was a rule, would have appreciated knowing that before they yelled at my kids. Generally disorganized, a lot of things not working. Not worth the money and time spent. Would not recommend. My brother who lives in upstate and recommended it apologized for it being such a bad experience. My partner was here as a little girl, some 65 years ago, and on that day many years ago, it was time to go, and she didn't get a chance to see the reindeer one more time. We decided to come up to see the reindeer one more time. Everybody at the park was very friendly, and we are glad to say that the reindeer are being kept very well. They look extremely healthy, friendly, and you can even feed them. Even as "old people" both myself, and my partner really really enjoyed the place, and we could feel the magic of the place.
